SUGGESTIONS - NEW HAIRSTYLES, ERA UNIFORMS FOR NPC'S, Triexians?

reelaren#1184 reelaren Member Posts: 6 Arc User
Would be a cool feature to add different Star Trek era variations of the NPC uniforms, instead of just having only the stock game Federation uniforms for STO, having different NPC's wearing eras like TOS, TNG, DS9 etc would be a lot of fun. y1hlopxhy6vi.png

Also, more facial/head accessories like Ro's headband and new hairstyles for Male and Females would be a nice addition.

Any species that isn't built using the the default humanoid skeleton will pretty much never become playable, too much work for too little return. Now as unique NPC perhaps, but not as playable. (as NPCs can be built for a single outfit something you can't do with playable characters).

Note that most NPC's wear the Odyssey uniform instead of the First Contact one.

I think things should remain the way they are. Some (already existing) differences based on function make sense. Like having slight alterations for the dress variants or extra pockets for expedition outfits.

But other than that things shouldn't vary too much. It's called an uniform for a reason after all, if the people wearing it are from the same organisation (and they are), then their attire should look the same too.

More head options would certainly be nice to have though.

Also, now that I'm looking at that picture of Ro: more options to give our toons tennis faces, during fights for example. :p

There's no mention of Triexians at all on Memory Alpha. And they're very good at getting every bit of alpha canon Star Trek lore.

After searching Memory Beta, which is the Beta Canon archive for Star Trek, they do exist there, however not as the same species as Edosians. They "bore a resemblence" to Edosians. And the majority of their appearances were in novel and not any form of on screen appearance. While Memory Beta lists a TAS and LD episode as well as novels and short stories... Memory Alpha, which covers on screen Canon... do not even have an article on Triexians. So that relegates them to Beta Canon existence only and not on screen Canon.

    https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Edosian
    https://memory-beta.fandom.com/wiki/Triexian

So no... they're not the same thing according to research.

Starfleet have something for that, it's called Temporal Investigations, Those types of NPCs would all be part of the Time Police, unfortunately ESD or The Academy has no such building to house that part of Starfleet, so you'll never meet them.

All I really care about with npcs is I wish there was significantly less shuffling through the halls and going back and forth so much the doors are opening every few

The only time during operation where you'd see the hallways packed like that was a evacuation

Another suggestion is expanding the skin and hair tones, especially for the "Alien" tab in the generator. For instance, it is impossible to properly do an Ithanite because there is nothing even close to the copper/gold skin tone they have, the closest they have to a gold undertone is a standard human olive skin tone, which is way too light for the Ithanites shown in the show, and they are far from the only race with that kind of problem in character generation.

Another problem is that if you are making TOS characters the only boffs who can use the other insignia (the ones mistakenly identified as "ship insignia") are the ones from the TOS tutorial itself.

For example, I made what was supposed to be a TOS-era merchant marine crew (what is erroneously called the "Antares insignia" is actually the Starfleet Merchant Marine badge, the Antares in TOS was a supply ship). Unfortunately, after getting to 2409 it turns out that even with the TOS uniforms unlocked in the c-store the only insignia available to the 2409 boffs is the "active starship duty" delta.

I'd like to see more skin tones too.

For most of my aliens, it's difficult to get a good, human-looking one. Most of the times you can choose various sorts of brown and that works if you want that colour - otherwise you have to pick orange or shades of white that make them look way too pale.

it would be hard to do, and it might be FCT topic, but it would be nice if the crew and I wore the same uniform...

Its not FCT per se, but could be rolled into #10 regarding full custom ship interiors. There's also the detail of needing to make a batch of NPCs with every uniform combination there is, which is rather space heavy.

Speaking of FCT, I am gonna go talk to Baddmoon regarding editing #15 as that changed with the avialability of the Valkyirie and Kodai fighter pets...

    I'd like Killy's hair, Burnham's braids, and Landrey's ponytail.

    I'd like Killy's hair, Burnham's braids, and Landrey's ponytail.

Most things we get are kinda like lego pieces. Mix and match. However its possible that they specifically modeled those three hairstyles onto those particular character models and thus... its not lego piece like.
As someone who is a costume fiend in STO... I feel the pain. That ponytail would be nice.
