Launcher just updated now getting crash error on start up

Has anyone just had this happen to them?

    I just had mine do this also, it updated and now it crashes, I hope this doesnt continue, I have stuff to do tonight AND the Risa avent in the AM. Cant afford to miss a day. I also sent in a support ticket and will continue to try tonight hoping for a solution before morning otherwise i am going to loose event progress and be who knows how many days behind this will set me till this is fixed. ;( not good.

    I just contacted support on chat.
    I have been informed that they will be bumping this up asap to the developers for immediate review.
    Hopefully a fix doesnt take long.


    Update: i started getting a file error on my launcher. below is the fix. after that it should work.

    Go into your task manager in windows and terminate all cryptic launcher sessions showing up in your task list,
    Then restart your game and it should be ok.

    Had the same issue as everyone here. The going to task manager tick worked for me.

    Update: just had another launcher update at around 7:30 cst. Hopefully fixed what was bugged.

    Checked the forums for Neverwinter and Champions Online and it seems this issue is affecting them too.

    I'm not having that problem myself... but I am having a different problem. Every time I exit the game... I have to Task Manager kill a process afterwords because the launcher is still running somewhere invisibly, thus making Discord and Steam say I'm still playing?
    Minor annoyance honestly, but... it does involve a launcer process?

    Actually Rattler, I noticed the other day that discord was registering STO incorrectly as Neverwinter.
    Not sure how long its been like that cause earlier a few months ago it was indicating correctly. only recently in the last month i think something changed.

    Yeah. I've seen something similar before when it was keeping my mic open after shutting down STO. It is the Launcher handling that, because it'll use the same driver process as it does for linking Steam.

    Yea I noticed it too. Discord will recognize the Launcher as STO, but the second the launcher drops and the game starts up... I had no idea Neverwinter involved starships. ;)

    My Cryptic Launcer has the little popup window that says, "Trying to update the launcher. Please be patient." I was playing for a few hours earlier today, but then went to Tribble to test a few of the Vanity Shields... Now I can't get back in... Gets down to 48.8 mb remaining, then starts over...

    Stuck in a launcher update loop.
    Starts at 113 then when it gets to 81 it disconnects and starts over.
    Been hours now.
    Few people on reddit having same issue.

    Figured out a fix.
    I started a new download.
    Once the StarTrekOnline.exe had completed (225mb) I halted the download.
    I then copied that new .exe into the previous install over the old one.
    Launched the game and got a 50ish mb patch and all is good.
    Hopefully this helps someone.

    I'm having this problem. Get the "Trying to update" message.

    I really don't want to download the launcher again since it wipes out keybinds across all character.

    Edit: Every once in a while, it pays to keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results. I kept trying to use both the STO launcher and the Arc launcher until finally it updated and allowed me to launch the game.

    same here launcher saying updating please be patient then keeps stopping and resetting get to 109 then nothing

    I managed to get as low as 47 MB before it looped back up, and started resetting around 109-105.
    Its been reported to the CM who has passed it up the chain. If anyone can provide any more information, please do so.

    And for extra added fun, it's one of those intermittent errors, because it hasn't hit me yet at all. Tracking down an error that doesn't occur every time is just so much freaking fun!! :frowning:

    Anyone else having to do that constantly? I've had to do that for well over a year now on several PC's. Seems like something that should be looked into
