With this console, Transphasic containment, and various Fek'Ihri related items, I wonder if a fire build is becoming viable?
Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

Well... I got an old Rezreth mounting Terran Taskforce Disruptors to look like lava beams since her name is Volvagia, named after the Subterrarian Lava Dragon from Ocarina of Time.

Awesome! I might have to try it!

The advantage of the Terran Taskforce Disruptors is that they are red, and don't have the arcing energy around the beam like standard Antiproton. Also Disruptor has a lot more support than AP so squeezing out a few more decimal points of performance is easier as it is a Disruptor build.
I don't know how the Lethean Disruptors look yet so I can't comment on them. But I heard they were red.
I'll be honest, wasn't fond of the ship design when I first saw it but it's defiantly growing on me. in contrast the stats are fantastic, add on the breen equipment and this would make one hell of a "Fire and Ice" theme

Not at the computer right now, but I own the Lethean pilot ships. Does that give me access to the Lethean disruptors?

The only event ships with mechanics gimmics before were the Dyson Sci-Destroyers, all others were without the gimmicks or needed additional purchases... or something.

They had their "Tactical Mode" that enabled the extra weapons and disabled the standard Science-Vessel stuff.
There's only two other Event ships that have interesting stuff going on, as I recall:
The Risian T6 corvette (with a small 'C') which unlocked the Fleet version at a cost of one module.
This had full Pilot capabilities!
The second was last years' Farpoint Cnidarian. (I still find myself puzzled that it was seriously given as a ship!)

True, many of the free ships seem to be designed to try and shake people out of the narrow meta rut and encourage a diversification of playstyles, which I think is a good thing, though not all of them used special mechanics to do so.

Yes. Just like owning an Andorian ship grants access to Andorian Phasers.
I think it was stated to be a battle cloak, I'm having internet issues currently so I can't check the stream but that's what I remember was said.
A bit, but reminds me more of this ship.
A Mongo ship from the 1979 The Adventures of Flash Gordon animated series. Just change the colors a bit and it's very close.
