Is there a ship your captain will never leave?

djf021djf021 Member Posts: 1,382 Arc User
The last couple of years (and here and there the whole history of the game really) have seen some great ships come out.
My main used to fly the Avenger, then Arbitor, and now currently flies the Inquiry. She breaks in new ships here and there, but always goes back to the Inquiry.

Is there a ship (or ship line) you won't ever leave?

Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

I create new captains for new themes, so many of them never leave their endgame ship or ships (one flies the Herald ship set, one the Tholian ship set, one the Fek'ihri ships).

My TOS human captain flies a TOS Connie forever, because he is a TOS captain.

The Vesta for my main. He's flown the Nebula, Scryer and Intrepid but I tend to return to the Vesta there.

Sovereign for another. Even the Universe - which I was really happy to win a long time ago - couldn't keep him out of that.

In fact, I like these two ships so much that I've even created new characters just to easily fly them with different builds, these characters in some cases being former bridge officers or captains who commanded the same ships in some earlier or later time periods.

I also have dedicated toons for the Akira, Prometheus and Luna. Although the Luna character is currently flying the Terran Nebula, I'm already missing the ship so I'll probably return to it soon.

Usually, any iteration of T6 Intrepid will do, and the Crossfield Spearhead/Refit. I keep flitting between them on PC and XB.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

I have a serious case of altitus, but there are a handful. Any Event Campaign ship, plus I worked my tail off for a TOS Constitution-class about three and a half years ago.

So far for a few years now I've been stuck in the MW-FDC. Every new ship that's come out I've flown for parts or traits but I have yet to find a ship better then it. The seating is near perfect, the cruiser effects on such a small ship is pretty sad but that fine, it's pets and weapons were once top of the line but they are in the top 5. so its hard to say its not the most op Federation ship for a Tac captain in the game.

A new trait here, a new console there and its right back to being the top ship of the line for a Federation captain that can afford its price tag. Hopefully in the future they will release a better federation ship so I can get out of it for it since I'm getting cabin fever from it.

Personally I want something along the Intel looks but with MW ship seating and Terran Fire power since I'm not big on the ToS look. Maybe Late TNG or Voyager or maybe Picard in the terms of skin would be nice. Something sleek and fierce. Without a neck or a smaller neck profile would be nice.
Even god rested. No work ethic.

Vorgon Carrier and Romulan Carriers Frigates. There are no other ships that can compete against the Romulan Carriers for pet DPS or the Vorgon Carrier for its unique flight speed boost to weapons.

My Romulan Engineer always returns to either his Fleet Ar'Kif or his Fleet Mogai. Both are very long in the tooth. Neither seems to be a Warbird one sees often or sees many of ingame. The Fleet Mogai is a very old friend on which I finally learned how to start building ships correctly. The Fleet Ar'Kif is a prodigal, newly returned due to my recent fascination with all things carrier-based. A tweak here. A new Genetic Sequencer there. A couple of new DOffs. And Bob's yer uncle.

Some of my Fleetmates have commented on both Warbirds being released into the game so long ago. I haven't chased DPS or, "the Meta" in years. Or dove into the deep end doing the Min/Max stuff either. But I can take either Warbird into Hive Elite or Kobiyashi Maru and contribute significantly to the success of whatever team I'm part of. While having loads of fun just playing STO. Without being frustrated by my lack of the latest Console or Trait or weapon.

Pretty sure I'll be using both Warbirds until this game sunsets.

Honestly I never thought I'd leave my Vizier on my main, as it fit my playstyle perfectly. Then I got a Walker, then a Temporal Connie, then a Sagan. Still got all of them commissioned, and I honestly do need to reoutfit the USS Lexington again. She didn't have a loadout saved so she's basically been stripped of gear because of it.

Although on my DSC Character I think the MW Connie will classify as never leaving for her. Fits playstyle AND has Elite Valkyrie Fighters on her now.

I have over thirty characters and more than half of them have permanent ships that they always return to after leveling other ships for their traits since I make most of my characters based on a theme or background quirk (which often includes a particular ship). A few examples are:
    • A Romulan crew who captured an Elachi walker during the Viranat attack (and yes, it is not literally possible to do so in the tutorial but things like that is what the character bio is for) and flew it to safety, then found that D'Tan's nascent Romulan Republic was so short of ships that they were stuck with it long term.
    • A Klingon boarding party who were stranded on a Europa heavy battlecruiser when their ship was destroyed and managed to take it over just before J'Ula's weapon malfunction sent them all to the future.
    • A merchant marine captain who turned to pirate hunting during the 2409 Klingon-Federation war using a Seneca carrier (renamed the (U)SS Echo) disguised as the freighter base model. While their specialty is the aforementioned pirate hunting, they also do a lot of undercover work for Starfleet Intelligence (not S31) since they are pretending to be a freighter crew anyway, especially after the war ended.
    • A Kobali captain and her Delta Alliance crew in a Nihydron Destroyer (she was supposed to command a Samsar but that has never happened due to the disgustingly low epic phoenix token odds. However, should one become available I might switch her).
    • My first STO character was adapted from a Fasa/Last Unicorn Star Trek crossover campaign I ran. She was an NPC who flew a Fasa-constructed Rihannsu (long story) "electronic" warfare scout who would often aid the player characters when they needed a cloaked ship for an operation (somewhat similar to Rios and the La Sirena in PIC).
The Faeht is an almost perfect match for her ship functionally, and even though it is a bit bigger it is even reasonably close visually (it was supposed to be a small support ship meant to escort the Winged Defender class and had the underslung cannon mount arrangement and a few other touches from that ship, but the general lines were rather similar to the Faeht in STO). I doubt that an even better match will come along so she will be using that as her primary ship for the foreseeable future.
    • A TAS Klingon who was the science officer of a Klolode-class (TAS style) D7. She was sent down to the stasis projector in an attempt to convert it to use it as a defense when they were being overwhelmed, but when the bridge was destroyed the surge from the hit caused it to shift the ship too far out of time and it stayed frozen and hidden until the start of the Iconian war. Despite being extensively damaged the need for ships was great enough that it was repaired/rebuilt using parts from a restarted DSC era shipyard and converted into an MW hybrid carrier model.

I have a serious case of altitus...
Glad to hear I'm not alone...

The various ships my mainly used characters fly:
    • NX Refit
    • Kara
    • Scryer
(I didn't like the looks of this ship but fell in love with it while trying to level out the Trait and now I use it permanently on this character)
    • Paladin (with the Ranger skin)
    • Thozyn (Flew the Kumari until we got the T6 variants!)
    • Resolute

I have one sci character who won't leave his Paradox. Well, except for breaking in other ships now and then for traits or something. Or if he happens to be doing endeavors and needs another ship outfitted for the space energy damage ones. Then he hops back into his Paradox.

That ship was a gift from a very good friend and he was the one who wanted it. That character is my ToS recruit too, so it fits him.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

I do the same thing! I have a character I consider my "main main", and about twelve I use more often than the rest. But I've got I think around 47 characters, because I keep thinking of themes:

Fed Dreadnought Cruiser captain, Rom flight deck warbird captain, Klink Raider captain, and so on and so on. Every single one of them was created for a specific purpose.

My Klingon science captain uses the Paradox. It's an excellent ship, and I haven't found a better science ship to put her in yet!
