Is there a way to turn npc chat back on during missions?

    What you mean by NPC chat? I would love to help you but I really need a clarification as to what you mean, since as far as I know you cannot chat directly to NPCs outside of specific promps.

    Like when they’d normally say something alerting you of a sutuation such as Admiral Kensington telling you to prepare for attack in Defense of Starbase One.

    Ah the NPC alerts, I'd try either gameplay settings or char settings. Now if they're gone due a bug I'd report that with as much detail as possible (like what system you're on).

    I'd suggest checking Chat settings, as there are options for customizing your chat tabs there, including turning on and off various channels. For example if you don't want to see everyone's emotes register on your chat box, you have an option to turn that off (A bit of a necessity during Summer Event Dance Party).

    I believe there is also an option in there for NPCs there.
