still crashes to desktop a few seconds after the character list comes up. ESD background shows up and it pauses for a few seconds like its trying to load the character models then crashes. Win 10 Intel HD 4600 Intel i7 here is part of the response from my ticket about this issue "Upon further review, it seems that the crash issue occurs with Intel Cards. Please do not worry as our development team is aware of the issue and they are working on a fix. When we have more information about this issue we will be sure to let the community know through our official news page forums."

Bring up the launcher and click 'Safe Mode' and then Save. Start the game up and you'll have to set your graphics options. This 'should' resolve this. It's usually driver update that causes it, which invalidates/corrupts the gamepref's file.
Reinstalling the game won't have any effect if your gameprefs file isn't deleted (which a standard uninstall won't do), and isn't really worth doing at all. Use 'Force Verify' in the launcher options which will check for file issues, and is far quicker than a reinstall. You should only do this if starting in Safe Mode does not resolve an issue, with restalling (after deleting ALL files) being a last resort.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
