Wow, very well done. the VA has stepped up considerably.
I went in as a tac with a GW intrepid. definitely the right ship, not going into details. I can't remember what the special abilities of the sci and eng Inquisitor are, but i definitely would not have made it through without the dark matter and drones the tac gets.
Hit all the right spots did this episode. Played right through without an issue too.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
I did the mission on a sci char and it was... tedious. I didn't much care for the episode, too many time gates, too repetitive. I also think that lately, they force us to play as someone else a little too often.

Agreed. Ground missions for me are like pulling teeth at the best of times. Trying to play this episode as a sci char while the server was borderline overloaded, rubber-banding all over the place (100m into the air at one point), invisible stumbling blocks, without any of my hard-earned equipment or abilities was the absolute worst. Shoot things, operate a console, shoot things, operate a console, listen to Tilly's vocal fry, operate a console, shoot things, operate a console, shoot the same thing a thousand times for about 10 minutes, it's over thank god. The space part was marginally better, I would class it as about 30% as fun as one of the better space TFOs.
Well, got quite the beautiful bug where I finished the mission (which is, as usual, visually beautiful, and as usual, plagued with a lot of things the game has wrong (different much weaker character, timegates, 2/3rd of the mission being mostly a tutorial for the TFO, lots of enemies and a sci inquisitor still weaker than the other classes, and seeing the main plot twist miles ahead))...
... And not only did I not get it considered completed but the objectives got right back to the very first set (gather the fleet).
What spoilers? That Tilly is in here still throwing jabs at you? She's literally mentioned in the loading screen and all ads for the patch, and that's almost only what her character does.
Between the lag and the geometry issues (seriously, how does a game engine from 2009, designed for a ground based game, NOT handle slightly varied terrain?!) I gave up on the first ground room. I might wait and see if the emergency patch is coming tomorrow before running it again.

please don't post spoilers
Engs get Ambush Turrets on fairly quick cooldown, which should be OK dealing with the stuff. I forget what Sci gets, I remember not being impressed by what they got last Terran episode.
Resolved an issue that was preventing the Emperor’s Will event from granting the Terran Somerville Scout Ship [T6] reward.
This will fix the issue with the event buyout.
Resolved an issue that was preventing some characters from logging in.
It made me hate ground combat even more than I used to - meh in all aspects from the layout, forced in playing a useless character(SCI) and NPC support that at best was lacklustre.
I'd mentioned in another thread about what bugs us as players (I don't remember the thread title), and I do believe that at that time the decisions for this episode were already underway, but I'm happy to reiterate:
I hate having a character I've spent years building and maintaining getting sidelined while I get stuck playing some NPC!
Hey, at least I got to fly my starship for a little while. MY starship, the one I spent plenty of time and effort upgrading and outfitting.
I know the Developers in general are not responsible for such decisions and I don't hold them responsible. No, this kind of decision has the stink of middle management, someone in a decision making role, a Project Lead or some such.
Aside from being stuck with One-Gun Quackenbush the episode was pretty good, looked great, and even Wheaton wasn't all that bad in the role. Plus I was quite happy to see |REDACTED| get thoroughly |REDACTED|! That glob of Tribble Spit always got on my nerves!
> @inseeker said: > I think it is bugged, running around for ages drawin power and not able to finhish ...
I had the same experience but somehow after a certain amount of time passed I was able to get past the drawing power portion and not deal with a swarm of drones. Remember target the Repair Drones, I was having problems targeting them and kept on attacking the others. It was a slog though on my main tactical character.
At one point in the space part I was stuck in the Other's wall and could not move until a dialog finally played. This was not the scripted getting stuck.
Thankfully, I did not experience the invisible walls issue.
Overall, I liked the new episode, bugs aside and they did a great face sculpt of Wil Wheaton unlike what I saw in the teaser and trailer.
I didn't experience any issue with playing this mission. Hopefully, whatever technical issues others are having with it get sorted soon.

With missions like this they are begging to quit playing STO. Can not go futher, tired of killing repair drones and they keep appearing and repairing. Frustating :(
I think it is bugged, running around for ages drawin power and not able to finhish ...
It is definitely bugged. tldr that power drain section was generating significantly more drones than I could destroy and use the consoles. It took me well over an hour just to get through that part and even then it was just barely and only because lag kicked in and the drones bugged out for a short time and didn't reset all the pylons instantly for the 100th time in a row
tldr: the spawning of those drones absolutely needs to be rebalanced and lowered. As it is now its almost unplayable
That said, yeah they definitely picked the wrong person for emperor. Its bizarre and not particularly believable. Came off as wesley crusher cosplaying an evil guy for halloween or something. Saw the leeta 'twist' coming a mile away as well. Got kind of tacky and made that whole plotline really go nowhere though. I'm not entirely sure what she was trying to do or what the point of it was. I mean assuming she actually killed the emperor....then what? The pah wraiths have no more interest in the empire than the emperor does and essentially would have done the same thing as him
to me this is very much a "do it once never do it again" mission. Session play as a terran is much more entertaining in red shift. and once you get the costume unlock, the rewards are a MK XI set of armor, purple quality sure but underwhelming.
Honestly the rewards across the terran arc need to be tweeked a bit, they're not terriably good at enchouraging replayability.
I just finished the mission, and so without any real spoilers (if any are left that is lol), here is my take on it...
Overall, I did enjoy the mission, though out on a 1-10 scale, I'd give it a 4.2. Why? Because yet again, I/we are FORCED to not only play as someone else in a GROUND mission no less (which I was sad to see it being so extensive compared to the space battle), but a significantly weaker character than my own no less. I ran threw it on my original first character, a Science one, and while I didn't encounter any real bugs that stopped me playing period, just being forced to play a weaker version of her in a ground mission made it far less enjoyable then it could have been. So Dev's, please, PLEASE stop doing this, ok?
And as far as "Shut up Wesley" goes, while I think the Dev's nailed it on this one, he just did not make me feel like he was either a super powerful being, or super evil one or heck, even a really threatening one. It was just good ol' "Shut up Wesley" in a nice suit, trying to act "big and bad" is all, and while this is nowhere near a knock on Wil Wheaton (as I think he nailed the part perfectly), there is only so much that can be done with the character to portray him as a "Evil Emperor". It was a good opportunity for Will to get into the game, but when it is all said and done, they should have chosen a different person to play the part of the Emperor.
MY QUESTION IS WHY...WHY...WHY , do you (devs) keep on doing missions that takes our gears out and its replaced with junk , been trying the dam storm chaser for 2 days , (4 times i tried) , keep getting mob by dam drone and i cant heal enough to stay alive.......no fun......at all....i hate this kind of mission where OUR gears is a lot better , why cant we use the away team either.......are you to the point of throwing the captain in a mission no gear no away team no pet , well nothing in fact , just to try to make it look chalenging !!!!! not of that there , i am telling you.

It does... one enemy at the time (the elite ones and the boss) , in a mission where enemies keep spawning everywhere. Most of the time, the chain ability in particular is useless except during the couple of times drones spawn close to each other (which is usually on the bridges where beam-summoning drones are about to melt your HP bar because you don't have much room to stand clear from the AOE).
I absolutely have enjoyed playing a 'baddie' version of myself, and folk have been asking for this 'creature-play' for YEARS guys, come on! It does not do anything permanent to your own character.....unless Cryptic is winding up to kill the original toon your playing permanently
So what if it's 'harder' because you don't have that outrageously over-powered gear on to one shot things. I enjoyed it more that I wasn't blasting through it, and as for the 'time-gate' complaints....if the train is going to be here in 5 minutes, it's going to take 5 minutes. Time-gates are a part of life, and in-game they 100% should exist.
And Sci's are wickedly effective in this with the chain lighting.

Won't someone please mention the sound bites. Ok I will. lol
I loved the sound effects, especially from the red probes. Lots of V'ger sound bites from the movie. Needs more of the menacing keyboard sounds, the one that sounds like a guitar out of tune. And maybe some cow bell.
