Will my Captain-ranked Boff get demoted if I use the new Elite Boff token on her?

She is my very first boff from launch. She is Captain ranked, making her unique and special. But she is only Green rarity - making her the perfect candidate for the new upgrades (honestly, the ONLY boff I would be interested in upgrading).

But it's a hard pass if she will lose her Captain rank:

I doubt anyone can answer this, to be fair. Players are unlikely to know the answer and the Devs probably haven't taken into account the effects of a new feature on what must be an ancient bug.

If it's really important to you, I'd just keep her the way she is.

Whilst I don't see why being demoted to Commander would be any sort of downgrade givent that Bridge Officers max out at Cmdr, the question remaining is how the hell did she manage to become a Captain?

I want to know if Cardassian “Superior Photographic Memory” was improved. Right now the trait doesn’t have different stats from “Photographic memory” +1.5 Damage, Defense and Accuracy. I would buy some upgrade tokens if it could boost that Damage to 3 or 4%. Superior pirate would also be cool.

I know, of course, the answer is that no one thought to buff these powers. Pirate is a KDF trait after all. I doubt many players use a lot of these officers, except me. And players really interested in their Boff powers probably have unlocked the Vanguard boffs.

Pirate is also available on the Hierarchy Boff. I use it on some toons that aren't KDF.

I probably will not spend my limited resources to do testing, so I hope a dev/QA is able to test this first and report. My concern is that the token is probably hard coded to promote boffs to Commander (even if they were already higher rank).

Well, given that your BOFF is bugged, there is no way for a dev/QA to test this since BOFFs aren't supposed to be ranked as captains. 🤷🏼‍♀️

why cant they? cant they just copy his boff and test it internally?

Oh! Well, I was thinking he meant to just test the concept. And since there are no other BOFF captains (to my knowledge), they wouldn't be able to test it. Now, testing on his personal BOFF might be possible, but it's more likely that they'd just fix the bug and "demote" it back to commander where it should be. Somehow, I doubt he wants that kind of attention brought to his BOFF since he's specifically wanting to keep it at captain rank. 🤷🏼‍♀️

+1 for trying on Tribble, but there is no guarantee that even if it doesnt change on tribble that it won't blow up on Holodeck

Yeah, I'm really hoping that Cryptic will be able to confirm/deny.

FYI, while they do appear somewhat unique now, I think they were fairly common "back in the day" - I know I'm not the only one who has one.

Yeah, just please don't have it resulting in it getting nerfed at all, because while it has no real direct in game effect, it is a very cool surprising gift to have in game; and certainly a conversation starter. And "fixing/nerfing", when it has no real effect on the game would be just a big finger to @nametaken9999. Just my view though...

I have no Captain-ranked boffs. My guess, though, that they've taken the lazy route (as per usual), like for Ultimate Upgrade Tokens that just add like a million upgrade xp, just to be sure (to cover future Mk increases as well). So, if boffs merely get a huge xp infusion, it may just max out, and retain rank. Best to try it out on Tribble first, though.

I don’t know if you got the answer yet. But some people on Reddit used the token on their Captain BOFFs, and they kept their Captain rank. So you should be fine. But if you would feel better you can try it out on Tribble first for yourself, maybe.

It says something along the lines of "upgrades all Inherent Traits to Maximum Rank" which implies that some traits are already at maximum. Just because there's "Superior Trait-X" doesn't mean that "Trait-Y" should also go to 'Superior' - that 'Superior' version doesn't necessarily exist & "Trait-Y" is already at maximum..
