I am looking to pick up on the starship bundles. I prefer to play engineer (tank), it's just what I am comfortable with and enjoy, and I want a ship that can maximize that enjoyment for me. I know that usually 3 ship bundles have a unique console set, so that's a factor as well. This will be first time every buying such so I want my best bang for my zen.
I'm looking at the 5000-6000 zen range. So please give me your suggestions and reasoning behind those suggestions.
The 31st Century Bundle is very good, though they sure are ugly. Some excellent traits in with them and all three ships are solid.
The support cruiser bundle at 4k zen is a good buy. No console set but they are temporal ships.
There's one legendary bundle at 6K, that being the Mirror bundle which has the legendary Gal-X in it. Not one of my favourite ships because it's a Galaxy class, which means most solar orbits can out turn it.
The Odyssey star cruiser bundle contains three (tactical, engineer, science) variations of the same ship, with the flagship console set which has a potent bonus on it. Said set only works on flagships though, Romulans and KDF have their own equivalent ships in that category.
I can't really think of any bundle that would be a must-have for tanky builds.
The Narendra class has a pretty good tank trait, no matter if you just want to be tough or actively attract fire. I don't know if you even need its bundle with the Klingon version, maybe just get the single ship.
I personally also like to use the trait Unified Engineering from the Buran class, which is yet again not a bundle, but a single ship.
Dont shoehorn yourself into buying a bundle. Console sets are nice, but not obligatory. The savings are only worth it if you are going to fly and enjoy all the ships in the bundle.
Look through the cruisers and pick a couple that you think look cool and that you can see yourself flying for a long time. The console and trait are an added bonus and only matter if you are trying to optimize your build, which is not necessary for advanced content.
I enjoy flying the Deleth. It has so-so trait and console (dont think I am using either), but it looks cool and I enjoy a cruiser with pilot seating.
My current fav is my Crossfield. I tried for the refit but alas my luck with lockboxes is beyond pathetic. If I could find it on the exchange for a reasonable price, I would grab it but nada.
The Vanguard carrier is the only one I fly these days. Got the Jarok, yoinked the console, tossed it out of it's own airlock.
Wingmen, console that summons another (actually competent) ship with delightful animation, 2 full hangars and very, very good seating. You get an entire fleet for the price of one ship.
Sadly, Cryptic caught the fact it's very good for a sci carrier and so made the support carriers.
It does have one catch though, you have to fly it on a Jem Hadar for a bit to account unlock it.
Most of the ship console sets are for flavor / variety rather than being better than using other consoles from rep/lobi sets, level 15 crafting (Conductive RCS), fleet.
I'd start with "what ship do I want to fly" and work from there instead of looking for bundles in particular.
Once you have the ship to fly, see if there are other ships you want badly enough to pay for a trait or as a second or third ship to fly. If you're buying ships for traits it might be an Arbiter for supercharged weapons, emergency weapon cycle, a Gagarin for entwined tactical matrices, or the Pathyeager for Clumpship

Minor correction, Arbiter is Emergency Weapon Cycle.
I forget all the sources, but Supercharged Weapons can be found on the Tactical Scimitar (Legendary too). Mind you it's a good trait to have as well.
I heard the Clumpship was OP, so they stuck it on the secret exchange nobody has found yet after a decade.
Thanks, I have both and forgot which trait was which.
Right now to buy the Pathyeager on sale you need 2,400 zune but unfortunately Microsoft stopped selling it back in 2012
Honestly, especially with the recent boost to intel, the ship I fly the most and most often...is the vanguard carrier. The wingman mechanic gives you a lot of wiggle room into how offensively or defensively you want the ship to play, giving you either a powerful, low-CD attack or hull heal. And the ship's console lets you further shift towards more offensive gameplay if or when you want.
And, well, I do enjoy having a commander-level science station. But that could just be me.
I'd love to see a ship-popularity breakdown, with the the number of captains flying various ships. Or just a top 10 or 20.
The Lexington would be perfect for a Fed ship with a limited wingman mechanic (if they ever did one) since it carries an Aquarius escort in its tail.

The Gagarin Miracle Worker Battlecruiser (Fleet Shepard) is a nice bundle buster. With Miracle Worker bridge officer stations it offers increased performance via the bonus damage from Mixed Armaments Synergy and Narrow Sensor Bands as well as a 5/3 loadout for cannons or forward weighted beams. With decent inertia it's base turn rate of 7.5 is very nice. It's got an extra console slot, extra power, and extra long quantum slipstream drive to go along with it's extra damage. It's a tanky over-performer that's one of my favorite beam ships.

Now the Gagarin itself I have and the Fleet version as well. It's a fun ship.
T6. Then buy the Lexington and toss all three in the garbage.
I have a very unhealthy relationship with that ship.
Lexington body cushion when Cryptic?
After thinking about it, I did go with the Lexington. Now to figure out a good f2p tank build. Any suggestions would be appreciated as it seems you know the ship well
Something like this would work. It is missing Reverse Shield Polarity but with NSB3, MAS3, and OSS2 you'd really be giving the bad guys a rough time...
Tac: Tactical Team 1, Attack Pattern Beta 1, Beam Fire at Will 3

Ok all. First, thanks to everyone for your input. Honestly, it means a lot. Second. As I picked up the Lexington, is it worth it to pick up the T5 Odyssey bundle for the consoles for Lexington or just nah. I'm not sure how useful the T6 Odyssey bundle consoles are either.
I only use the two piece from the flagship set (Odyssey bundle). If you were going to get one of the bundles, get the T6 version.
I have the three piece from the legendary Scimitar but the fourth is tied to a long obsolete ship (Krenim Science Ship), which is an epic token in phoenix packs. So consider number 4 barely attainable.
T5 consoles don't have any passives.
The clickies from Adaptive Emergency Systems and Flagship Tactical Computer are pretty handy to have.

Usually, I would agree. In this case, the Zen was gifted to me. So since a sale is ongoing and I really wanted a new ship to play around in. It all worked out. Though, I really wished I had the choice to buy the Crossfield Refit.

Tac: Tactical Team 1, Attack Pattern Beta 1, Beam Fire at Will 3
Tac (Intel): Torpedo Spread 1 or Kemocite Laced Weaponery 1, Override Subsystem Safeties 2
Eng (Miracle Worker): Engineering Team 1, Auxiliary to Battery 1, Narrow Sensor Bands 3, Mixed Armament Synergy 3
Uni (E): Emergency Power to Engines 1, Auxiliary to Battery 1, Emergency Power to Weapons 3
Sci: Hazard Emitters 1
You could use the same consoles and weapons from an Arbiter or Gagarin. Something like this - link
Ohhh, thank you. I will try that out.

They aren't mandatory though, so it's up to you.
