I was going to buy the lifetime subscription for the sale amount, and was told by support that lifetime subscriptions are not available for accounts generated via steam.
I'd -really- like to get the lifetime subscription and wouldn't have signed up via steam if I knew that it closed me out from having that.
Please, please please developers - add a feature to buy the lifetime subscription for steam generated accounts. (Maybe via the zen store?)
Also, I wanted the lifetime subscription mainly for the jupiter veteran uniform... really want the admiral belt! >.< ... at least make that available through some other means, if a segment of the population isn't eligible for a lifetime subscription... really disappointing!
Steam-ESO players have a similar problem, especially since ESO doesn't recognise any e-mail addresses that have a "net" or anything besides "com" suffix but they don't tell you that anywhere on the page (it probably just fails when trying to make a login using one) but those email addresses work just fine through Steam. That means that nothing like the Twitch rewards can be linked to the account, nor can any other third party codes be used most of the time.
That means that either ESO accepts email suffuxes from Steam that they do not accept from anyone else, or much more likely in light of the problem here, Steam uses some sort of SSO tokens to log people into games like ESO and STO, and those tokens are not something you can just write in password book or whatever and use manually.
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
Passion and Serenity are one.
I gain power by understanding both.
In the chaos of their battle, I bring order.
I am a shadow, darkness born from light.
The Force is united within me.
If it doesn't, that's a recent development, because I had no issue using my .net e-mail to register for ESO during its beta.
Beta was a long time ago, back when .net was the more common suffix for non-corporate emails, so you are probably right. There is a weird idea nowadays that restricting signups to .com somehow discourages bots and goldsellers, and while it really does not work (botters, spammers, and goldsellers have no problem at all with that restriction, they often spoof addresses and use private servers and whatnot for instance) a lot of places believe in the myth.
