For the upcoming KDF recruitment I am thinking of purchasing the Cardassian race.
Could someone kindly confirm if it unlocks the traditional uniform that we see onscreen from DS9? On the wiki it says there is a uniform, but when you see the picture on the zen store, it looks like a generic uniform.

Far as I know, Cardassian uniforms are specific to Cardassian characters. I don't have one myself but I do have a BOff, and they have access to the Cardassian uniform.
Yes, purchasing the Playable Cardassian race unlocks the Cardassian uniform as well.
Anyone that has the uniform already and doesn't have the pack, if I recall correctly, it was given away at one point a while back. That is likely why you have it, but either way the Playable Race does come with the Uniform.

Yes, that is correct.. Cardassian Bridge officers come with the Cardiassian Uniform. But you can't put that uniform on your captain, in order to do that you have to have the uniform unlocked which is part of the playable Cardassian unlock.
The Cardassian uniform is only usable by Cardassian race player characters and boffs. Unfortunately, it isn't a great looking uniform as it was designed by the devs back in 2012 or maybe even earlier. It wasn't given much of a quality pass if at all when playable Cardassians and Cardassian boffs were added to the game. As a result, I don't even use it even though I love Cardassians and the Cardassian uniform from DS9.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
Lot of stuff that can use updates in the tailor...but as this is Starfleet Online, only Feds get looked at
Not true. We did have that whole "Year of Klingon" that saw a lot of Klingon themed stuff, and we did get quite a few Klingon things based on Discovery s1, and one of the best (IMO) Klingon cruisers in the form of the DSC D7.
While it is true that the majority of players pick Fed, we gotta remember the reason why. Star Trek by nature is Fed centric. Yes we have options, but we always see Fed in the shows. So naturally there is the more material to work with on the Fed side.
But I do agree there needs to be some quality passes on uniforms, and IMO across the board. My KDF Orion wears the Mirror Bort top, and her collarbone clips through the front when she runs or aims.
We should have a "Year of the Romulan"... and also a "Year of Minor Races"... that would solve a lot... and a relaunch of the Legacy of Romulus would be great, IMO...

and year of 2409 Feds with a relaunch of the episodes they took out to update....perhaps I should start a 'Nova-style' threas for it till it's done. Cryptic hates Feds now.....
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
@ this point I would like to point out that we still lag Cardassian Ground Weapons and Cardassian Fighter Pets. Also a Legendary T6 Galor is something I would spend some on even if some pork is applied...
C-Store Inc. is still looking for active members on the fed side. If you don't have a fleet feel free to contact me in game @stegi.
They seriously need to make a Cardassian Lockbox 2.0 with updates Cardy weapons, Cardassian uniforms for all to wear, new Cardy vessels including a miracle worker Carrier. Be nice to have the one from Star Trek Invasion <- which had some interesting Cardassian designs.
To bad they blew the chance at a Cardassian / Jem'Hadar Faction or just a plain ole Cardy faction - would have loved to see a Cardassian world social hub with intriguing ties with DS9 story Arc.

The Year of minor races would be nice, especially if they included something I've wanted for a while: A non-aligned faction.
Meaning you can be pretty much any race available, with their own intro and their own base hub, like Ferenginar. After the intro rather than aligning they can take on various existing missions as mercenaries, meaning instead of getting the same equipment rewards they get increased dilithium and EC. Heck, maybe even make latinum worth something, add actual ground equipment sets to the latinum markets. The Orion Syndicate could factor heavily, as could the Ferengi, Nausicaans, Boslic, the Karemma, etc. We could get the various "alien of the week" ships from Trek over the years in the ZStore or whatever.
With such an ordered galaxy with specific zones controlled by the major powers, I always thought it would be a lot of fun to see what life is like for the pirates and smugglers and mercenaries in the Trek universe.
Nothing breaks the tension better than a tankard of warnog - except maybe a good brawl...

I wouldn't mind seeing something like that honestly.

That, unfortunately, is a no go for legal reasons. Any ship designs seen in other games from other companies that aren't owned by CBS are off limits. As much as I would love to see the Hutet from Dominion Wars, or the Federation Proxima from Legacy, due to the fact that they were made by different companies means legally those companies own their respective designs.

The main issue with this is that Cardassia is not a member of the Dominion in 2409. On top of that, we'd have 3 social hubs literally right next door to each other then, with DS9, Bajor, AND Cardassia. Not only that, lore wise Cardassia is pretty much in the same boat as RL Japan, only allowed a Self Defense Force. Anything further is handled by Starfleet. For all intents and purposes Cardassia is a protectorate of the Federation. Still independant, but bound by Treaty.
Just gonna have to accept that they couldn't make a faction. Also... what would their core damage type be anyways?
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
Passion and Serenity are one.
I gain power by understanding both.
In the chaos of their battle, I bring order.
I am a shadow, darkness born from light.
The Force is united within me.

Not anymore, they aren't - they joined the Alliance after the events of Home.
The Alliance is not like joining one of the major factions like the Federation. Its more like NATO, with each member still independant in terms of government and everything, but contributing to mutual defense of each other. So yes, the Cardassian Union is still Independant because the Alliance did not take over responsibility for governmental duties.
