The more things change, the more they stay the same I suppose.

Saving me some money at least :)

The email said "rotating sales", so I will at least wait to see if they do bundle sales like last year.

But for what's on sale now....no thanks, all set. I'll use my piggy bank elsewhere.

For some reason when it comes to Mudd's Market and the bundles and their usual prices especially I cannot get the image of Kenneth Williams in Carry on Cleo when he says 'You've never had it so good!' out of my head - that we should be grateful for these generous offerings.

It appears the zen bonus doesn't include Steam. Which is disappointing.

Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

I think we all just need to accept that STO is no longer about making and maintaining a great Star Trek game anymore. its about money. its about making as much as they can, and squeezing from whales as long as possible until they decide to shut down the server. that's all it is now.

It's all right. The bundles are 50% off, at least.

I still find it a dickmove that they took the episode replay event rewards and make you pay for them now.

That might be OK if it was every bundle, only a small number are even available today, price regardless.

If people actually read they were honest, the Bundles applied to Consoles. o:)

"December 22nd at 8am to January 3rd at 10am, you will get a 20% bonus when you charge for Zen, on PC, and save 20% on bundles of Zen on Xbox and Playstation!" & "And the first sale is underway right now! Head to the Mudd's Market section of the Zen Store, and you can save 75% on everything in the store (excluding the Mudd's Bundles)."

The listed sales likely will change every 2 days at least PC at least. Though the 20% ZEN bonus applies on PC at least till morning of Jan 3rd I believe.

No doubt. It is bad enough the basic charge bonus is not included in the first place but no sale bonus either sucks. One has to wonder what the point is in linking the account or playing it via Steam in the first place.

@strathkin I did read the article quite carefully actually, as it happens, to be sure I had not misread its contents.

I simply was not explicit enough in the title of my original post here, as my comment on the lack of a discount on bundles was purely a reference to the 'Mudd's Bundles' containing promotional and lockbox ships which were excluded from the sale.

As these bundles and their associated costs are usually the subject of much debate, I believed my reference was sufficiently implicit, but perhaps not.

As for my second post, which you quoted, it was merely a commentary on the change of ownership and how little appears to have changed (so far, admittedly) following it.

There is no point and absolutely no benefit in using Steam nor Epic. They are just secondary, and pointless launchers anyway. Hate that I have to be tied to any 3rd party launcher to play a game I've bought. I hate Steam disabled most of the time, but with STO, I have always used it's original launcher.

I usually do as well except for when I want to support the game by spending money which I don't do more than monthly normally but it is nearly always several hundred dollars at a pop.

    That's now very clear.

Yet Mudd Bundles are 50% , and that's typical offering from them that's consistent.

    Have a good day!

Point taken. I double-checked to make sure I was right before I posted and the bundles I saw were reduced. But yeah, there weren't many of them.

It is nice in that the stuff is slightly less unaffordable, but it is moot for many since it does not change the fact that it is still unaffordable.

At no point is a vendor required to take into account ALL budgets when pricing an item.
A brand new BMW 5 Series sold for $20,000 is a cheap price compared to normal pricing, even if someone can't afford $20,000.

The former is not dependent on the latter.

And more, they want a lot more money, not scraps of money.
Premium content comes at a premium price.

They didn't develop these ships with poor people in mind. Even if someone wants that to be true.

There is nothing about Legendary ships that is required to play this game.
If people have the extra cash to buy them because of "I want this", then great.

There is the rub. The entire Free to Play (F2P) paradigm is founded on the notion of microtransactions which traditionally is $1-$10 and a particular item was guaranteed. Instead now we get RNG gamblebox hell and several hundred dollar transactions as standard for something the company says has no value and we dont really own anyway. Sounds strange in terms of logic.

It seems to me serious regulations need to be put into place to remove the gambling mechanism and the idea of microtransactions needs to be legally capped at a particular number such as say $20. In my not so humble opinion the entire industry went of the rails when the F2P took over because of abject greed and progressive game development was bastardized into a massive grindfest to incentivize people to spend [big] money for stuff so the focus shifted from quality user experience activity to mind numbing grinding and even when spending big huge money there is no fundamental gameplay change as the real game is waiting for the next box to be developed and hoping the odds of getting one goes up over 1% if lucky but that never happens as things are extremely profitable now so why change amiright? It is not about developing a high quality game but fast and easy revenue generation without accountability or responsibility but I digress...

Last year between the 22nd and 24th, the ENTIRE Mudds Market was 75% off, including the three Ship Bundles (available at the time). I think the problem this year was they had a new Mega Ship Bundle introduced and on 50% off throughout the entire Christmas Sales period. And Lord knows having Bundles available at different discounts simultaneously would be a recipe for them scr*wing something up.

Yeah, I was REALLY hoping for a repeat of last year's REAL sale and all bundle return this year...maybe for New Year's or the anniversary, and by then I ought to have enough to buy all the Mudd's bundles I want, not just 1 or 2 of them.

The reaction to this news on social media suggests that this Mudd sale is a faceplant of epic proportions. I'm honestly not sure how they could fail any harder.

Totally agree. Though, the wording of the blog implies additional sales as days progress...

Cautiously optimistic. (But not holding my breath.)

Edit: Awkward, apparently this post got hung up somewhere. (I did not intentionally necro this thread, apologies.)
