Hi my mailbox is showing as there is new mail in game but it is empty I have tried sending myself mail which I received then deleted and this did not solve the problem the support team have already said it appears too be an in game bug.
I had this problem recently too and went through all my characters and deleted all the mails but the indicator kept flashing.
So, I sent myself a mail and deleted it. The indicator vanished.
I've no idea what was causing the indicator to appear as I didn't have any unread mails, but deleting them on every character didn't remove it either.

I have noticed that it happens when you open mail intended for a different character. I fixed my issue by having someone mail the character I was on and opening it. Its a weird workaround but it worked... after that, try to keep a mental note of what toon mails and if you see the icon again get on that toon.
