... apparently I got semi-banned for posting my SECOND thread in like ten years. Can't get a response from mods or admins, can't use BBC, can't hotlink, nada. This is dookie stain. I'm out, taking my cash, websites, and endorsements with me. Kisses.

I wonder if the OP was trying to post a WebP or other non-compatible format and thought they were being blocked by Cryptic or something. Vanilla does not give any error warnings if you try to post anything but Jpeg or PNG, it just fails to show the pic.

The Ship Class thread? Yeah, if nobody's posted to it for 30 days, you're supposed to start a new thread, as the old one is considered dead. Thread necromancy seldom ends well...

What jonsils said. It hadn't been posted in for over 30 days so it was considered dead. We have a NecroMANCY rule on the forums to try and keep things relevant. Otherwise we'd have people responding to years old threads on issues that were solved long ago. And boy have we had some old zombies. Think the current record is 10 years old, which pretty much is the age of the game.
As for embedding pictures into posts...
We have the buttons on top of the text field, and one is for adding [ img ] tags for auto embedding. However some pictures, most notably those from a wiki, tend to have problems showing up at all for some dumb reason.
So you did absolutely nothing wrong, other than to revive a dead thread. Sometimes we do make exceptions to the Necromancy rule, but 9 times out of 10 we generally enforce the rule. Only time I can think of for a necro exception was when they re-released the Red Angel suit since it was still relevant.

I posted it original yesterday. Maybe just duplicate topic?

I can't even paste, in the url box, direct to page, nada.
I have even rebooted my entire system, to clear the guts out. (My stupid mouse chicklet even froze up on me the other nite, was like dahell man? Reboot n scoot.)
Necro rule sounds legit BTW. But like I said, I only started the thread yesterday, maybe day before by clock time, at most. Ahhh well. That thread is dead, I can deal. But if anyone can help me get some pics up, I have some great shots of Meta boats n such.
To post an image just surround the image url with [ img] and [ /img] without the space. I had to add the space so the forum would show it and not think I was trying to post an image.
As for your thread being closed, it was legit as you saw and I would really suggest that next time you have an issue you default to asking nicely instead of instantly assuming you have been attacked.

To make this point while posting an image..
Ummm, nooo. That does not work. As I have stated several times now, I cannot post any HTML. And asking nicely got me instabanned from Reddit on day two, so I am not very fond of forums really anymore either. Aaaaaand 3, nooo, my thread being closed was NOT legit, since it was less than 48 hours old. Sooo, if that mod was "playing nice" they should have explained their reasoning, issued instruction, or at the very least left a redirect link to similar topic.

Actually, what you posted was a new comment in an existing thread... and the comment prior to your new one was about 60 days old.
Ohhhh. You might be right. Party foul on me, shooot. Well, legit topic, but yeah, technically in the rulebook it stands proper. Still, good for discussion topic, but yeah, roger that. Surprised it wasn't killled before I got to it though, if they were that concerned over dust-mopping.
Yes, it does. I literally demonstrated it in the very post you're quoting. If there is an issue, it's 100% from your end and has nothing to do with the forum moderation.

That would be an issue between you and the subreddit you were banned from. Yelling at the mods here doesn't help with that. If the issue persists for you across multiple sites, that further drives home the fact that the issue is on your end, not the forum. I posted the image to demonstrate for you that the forum is indeed working.

A proper moderator will at least give notice, and as to why a member is being snubbed. I have run forums for over 20 years. I know how to treat my guests, and I know when our platform is being abused. I also acknowledge that human emotion, experiences, play a role in the dynamics of the relationship.

I've done a couple of necromancy myself when I first joined the forums, there were some really cool threads.
My greatest success posting pictures has been to save the image to my system, then upload it to an online service (currently using ImgBB, as Photobucket started charging). I can then use the URL assigned to the image by the service - if you use ImgBB, you can copy the BBCode command to paste the image in here. (The HTML doesn't work with Vanilla's software, but BBCode does.)
First up, the thread you posted in was more than 30 days old violating the necro posting rule and was not your thread to start with. If a thread has gone more than 30 days since there was a last reply to said thread, it's considered a dead thread and folks may no longer post in said thread unless special permission has been granted for the thread to remain open. This prevents forum clutter and helps make sure threads are up to date so we don't have threads about long removed or altered features coming up and confusing people. Bug reporting threads are granted exception to this rule within reason as it allows us to track the life of certain bugs or their return. You were given notice at that time of it being a necro post. Also it is incumbent on you to familiarize yourself with rules before hand.
Second, if you feel you have been moderated unfairly you can request that we review our previous determinations with the entire team, or make an appeal to the community manager Ambassador Kael. If it's determined the moderation was in error or improper it will be reversed by the moderation team or Ambassador Kael.
Third, this is not reddit and we have no control over what they do on that place. If you have issues with reddit, then you need to take it up with the folks over there. If you have been working forums as long as you say, then you should know that not all forums operate the same way. What may fly for some will get you insta-banned from others. When we moderate something here, it's nothing personal as we agreed to help enforce certain rules and are doing the job we agreed to do. Sometimes this means thread closure. There have been several times I have agreed with something someone was saying, but was forced to moderate them due to how it was said.
Now if you would like assistance in trying to post something you can ask for that help. What are you wanting to post, and how are you going about it? I see that you've tried to copy and paste but that's not working. To make it work easily enough, try uploading to some place like imgur then using the [ img] [ /img] tags to make a preview appear. Or you could just leave it as the link and let folks click if they choose to. Would you like to try receiving help, or do you want this thread closed still? the choice is yours.

Wouldn't even let me copy paste.

This has been very nicely explained to you above.
Great idea, this is going nowhere productive.
