    Very nice job on the Cryptic ship team on rendering this ship very well for the game.

    I'd consider an insult to the cat to put her in a ship that ugly, but that's entirely on the Disco team.

    The seating does make me sick though.

    True, the devs did a good job with what DSC gave them, it does make me wonder if the next big enemy should be Megatron though. That show just keeps getting sillier.

    Not looking like that it couldn't. They can take their space boomerang and put it somewhere uncomfortable. Why the heck is cryptic releasing wave after wave of ships that nobody has ever asked for?

    The inclusion of this being another infinity prize pack ship just makes me scratch my head in disappointment that the Jovian Raider wasn't a lobi a ship.

    That said, kudos to the team for managing to implement this shape-shifting monstrosity. I don't even want to know how much of a nightmare it was to get everything working for this thing.

    Ship itself seems pretty.. decent. It reminds me a bit of the Elachi Qulash - with pilot maneuvers and battlecloaking(did it ever using cloak during combat?). Always nice to see more pilot maneuver ships that aren't tactical-centric.

    I'm curious if they include a Queen for the Ship, or how we might obtain one?

    It's been an ongoing trend. The JJ movies, Picard, Discovery, all all tried to move away from geeky science fiction towards a more broadly received science fantasy/Marvel hybrid. But then, which franchise doesn't try to profit from the superhero movie hype these days...

    ...wow, that thing is dumb. But that's not the devs' fault.

    (judging by that bridge window, it also seems really small. Like "a bit bigger than a runabout" small. Or do 32nd century ships also have TARDIS-like space expansion inside, to allow for actual rooms beyond the bridge?)

    i was thinking the same about the size since you can literally see the bridge and the florescent lights in the ceiling...(ok, maybe they are LEDs at this point in history)
    These ships with 'windows' as/in place of viewscreens do present an interesting 'issue' (for lack of a better term) for STO. It's pretty impressive that the exterior view of the ship has been modelled in a way that allows us view the bridge, through the aforementioned window, if viewing the ship from the correct angle - but also disappointing that the bridge we see from outside the ship isn't provided as an interior in itself.

    And yes, I'm more than aware of Cryptic's position regarding bridges/interiors.
    What I find off-putting is that the bridge is empty. I realize that they would never be able to put our actual captains/BOffs onto the bridge, but IMO it would be good if it had exterior customization options for some generic, faction-specific stand-ins to occupy the space. Or, failing that, a tinted window option.

    I don't particularly care for DSC ships either, particularly these generic season 3 ships, but that doesn't mean no one was asking for them. Every ship has its fans, even the bizarrely mismatched Intrepid/Maquis kitbash.

    I've always been amazed that there are so few box ships I am ever interested in. This is just another ship I don't care about, and I detest the transformer gimmick.

    I hope those who do want and get this ship enjoy it, though.

    Cryptic has explained this several times.

    Many of the ships "no one has ever asked for" end up selling like hot cakes, whereas in instances where they released ships "everyone asked for" no one buys them.

    the vast majority of people who play games are casuals who never post on the forums, twitter, facebook, or anywhere. So what we see here is never representative of what the majority wants.
    Did they give some examples of this? Just curious to see which they're referring to.

    Next ship please? This looks like trash in my opinion. Don’t think there was any demand for this but, yet again, wasted time and resources that could’ve been apply somewhere else. But, who cares what the players want right?

    They haven't, because it ain't true but they can't say it. This ship is for those with FOMO and the collectors that have to have absolutely everything that get in the game.

    Same as with every other "number", as is usual in this business, the customers - because some white knights on these forums still need to understand that we're not only players, but customers too - are kept in the dark.
    Their "metrics" says whatever they want them to say, because no one will ever see them. Doesn't mean we cannot call them out on their TRIBBLE though.

    As for the ship, it just goes on the pile of "stuff that I'd never want in a million years".
    Not only it's ugly, it's a poor mix of Hugh's ship and the B-Wing with weird Transformer "capabilities". Waste of time to develop. Waste of money trying to get it.
    kv1Ohsx.png
    Not agreeing with someone doesn't give you the right to be an TRIBBLE.

    Ci sono tre tipi di giocatori:
    - quelli a cui non va mai bene niente... e vanno sul forum a trollare;
    - quelli che sono talmente imbesuiti da credere a qualunque cosa i dev dicano, perfino che la luna è fatta di formaggio... e vanno sul forum a trollare;
    - quelli che credono a quello a cui è giusto credere, sono d'accordo con quello con cui è giusto essere d'accordo e sono critici con quello che non va;

    Ai giocatori dei primi due tipi, gratis in omaggio un bello specchio lucente su cui arrampicarsi. E una mazzata in testa per la loro poca intelligenza e compassione verso gli altri giocatori che non la pensano come loro.
    Agli appartenenti al terzo tipo, invece, dico grazie. Anche se non sempre si riesce a mantenere la calma, siete quelli per cui vale la pena incazzarsi.

    Considering it's one of the hero ships for season 3, this one most likely DID have demand. I myself like it enough that I'd buy it right away if it was C-Store (I never expected it to be there just to be clear), but I don't like it enough to pay the lockbox ship price for it.

    They only kind of hint at things like this, I don't believe they are actually allowed to reveal any real sales data. I suspect though that the New Orleans could be a ship that people asked for but didn't sell well.

    It is small, in fact it fits inside Discovery's shuttle bay. It's Book's personal ship, not a military vessel.

    There are people who just love their Breen office blocks. No telling what other folks might want - if I could actually purchase this ship, I'd be sorely tempted.

    This is probably another one of the ships they were given the model for, hence the rather fast turnaround time between the Jovian's transforming gimmick and this one's transforming gimmick, both of which also came out in rather short order after the Janeway.

    A shame it isn't Lobi at least, it's definitely not Infinity Box valuable. Then again, maybe it'll make Mudd's early alongside the Jovian; as a "Mudd's Light and Transformable Discovery Bundle".

    Despite the look of the secondary hull the Yeager is not an "Intrepid/Maquis kitbash". They use the same model for several considerably different sized ships. The Maquis ship was a converted courier, the Yeager secondary hull was from a freighter you only glimpse for a second at the end of a communication, and some people like the idea of the Yeager being a military ship hurried along in construction by the use of a freighter as a secondary hull (and if you can get around the fact that they also used that model for other ships of different sizes like the raider it actually looks rather good).

    You wouldn't believe some of the crazy ships the military built out of civilian hulls during crunch of WWII, including a side-wheeler aircraft carrier for use as a training ship:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkjcsLE-yF8&t=49s

    There were a lot of oceangoing warships with civilian hulls too, like the British Flower-class frigates, most of the US subchasers, and a lot of escort carriers.

    They problem is, Cryptic wants to see what ships can do in the show first, before bringing them into the game (though the Janeway class seems to be an exception from that rule). Not much is known about 32nd century Starfleet ships and their abilities yet. Book's frigate was featured prominently in season 3 which is why they are releasing it now.

    It probably means the Janeway cannot do anything special and CBS told them it doesn't.

    Cryptic really ran fast with the Janeway. We only saw it for one shot (and I remember that line about wanting to know about all the missions of its predecessors and wishing I was watching them instead of Discovery) but the Janeway has been the only ship, to my knowledge, to appear in the window at ESD. No other Promotion ship has ever done that.

    Unfortunately it blends in with the interior of the dock too much so a lot of people don't even notice it is there so it is mostly a waste of display space.

    As for Booker's ship, I wonder why they are calling it a 'frigate' when it is not much more than a runabout with an uncrewed wing shaped thing stuck on one side. Personally I wouldn't even call it a corvette, especially since it is not supposed to be a military ship in the first place.

    Well I agree but there's precedent. The Jellyfish from the 2009 Star Trek movie was a one-person shuttle, even smaller then Booker's ship. Its size was increased and it was introduced into the game as a full blown science vessel with crew, generic starship interior and all.

    Personally, I'm not bothered by such inconsistencies anymore. Not with 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 29th and 32nd century vessels from all corners of the galaxy flying happily side by side, and being evenly matched. It is what it is.
