Well, at STO's Warp 5 you're travelling faster than almost anything ever shown on TV. The only things faster on-screen was Voyager travelling through the Transwarp conduit or when Kez and the Caretaker flung it. If you want the real Warp 9.99 experience, take out your warp core and travel to Vulcan from Sol.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
Every time I swear I'll never create another new character because of how slow warp 5 seems after running missions with a maxed out level 65 Admiral, I end up with another new reason to create a Captain and rediscover the "joys" of Warp Five and complaining about to slow of a crawl.
Also remember - Trip was talking about the days when most Earth ships were around warp 2.3 or so. I mean, there was a time when people were astonished at these newfangled automobiles that could go as fast as 30 or 40 miles per hour...

The fastest a human can run is 25 MPH. No car should go faster than that unless you have a death wish, which we all seem to do. But I digress.

A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
Passion and Serenity are one.
I gain power by understanding both.
In the chaos of their battle, I bring order.
I am a shadow, darkness born from light.
The Force is united within me.
Try Epic Maco Impulse, Epic Gamma Core, Extensively Modified Warp Core Trait in a Miracle Worker Ship. I've gotten to Warp 94.

l really don't know what l'm about to say, except l have a feeling about it.
That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'
The warp scale in the time of Enterprise would have had warp 5 at 125 times the speed of light. So, that means at warp 5 you would be able to travel 125 light years in one year.
Vulcan is supposedly around 17LY from Earth, so it should take around 50 days to get there at warp 5.
It's supposed to be a twin planet orbiting 40 Eridani A, just over 16 lightyears from Earth. Intriguingly, here in the real world 40 Eridani A appears to have at least one "super-Earth" planet, about twice the mass of Earth, orbiting just inside what we would consider its habitable zone...
Transwarp button for missions doesn't unlock right away though. First you have to spend some time plodding along through sector space, likely using the auto-nav button.
We should probably outlaw horses too then. If god wanted us traveling that fast, she would have bred us with cheetahs.
That sounds like a good way to get severely injured
Hmm... kinky

No one ever said a Sloth wasn't very kind.
