I reported this bug myself when it very first happened several years ago. Is this bug ever going to get fixed? This bug is so old now I am willing to bet that many players don't even know that Engineering (on typical layouts) is even supposed to have a sound effect with it. Is this a bug that I can just give up on ever going away? It's not a difficult bug to fix...it is a simple script that is not playing the .ogg file (or whatever files you keep your SFX bites) so I am not sure why this easy fix bug has not been fixed yet.
I may be coming off as harsh here, but I did report this both in game and on these forums over 8 or 9 years ago. I am starting to think all Perfect World is worried about is gambling boxes and not so much the quality of their game. Actually, I have been thinking this, but I had hoped that they might at least fix a few bugs that have been around for almost 10 years by now.

I don't know if I would actually classify this as a rant but more of a general and viable concern. I mainly called it a rant because I figured I would at least classify it in a way that people could relate to. If it gets shut down then I would not be surprised. As long as this bug has lasted, I wouldn't want anyone pointing it out either, heh. Also, poster above found one of my posts about this bug. However, I am fairly certain I posted this bug once or twice more before that post even.
This type of bugs are very low priority, so depending what's broken it can take a very long time to fix it. We got remember that not all bugs are equal and Cryptic is not gonna focus on repairing a minor bug related to feature most people don't use.
Should of posted there then as bug reports are never necro'd
I have put in tickets on this and posted bug reports. I'm not sure what else needs to be done to at very least get it recognized by the developers. They are either knowledgeable of this bug, or don't want to waste time on the bug. Since I can't get any confirmation on this, I am not sure exactly what I need to do.

Very low priority? I would say this bug isn't even on any list at all...low, high or any other list. I mean seriously, I know a tad bit about programming, this is a simple script that is not playing the sound bite. Chances are the path in that script has been corrupted and just needs to be rewrote so that the game knows when and where to play that sound and what file to pull the sound from. If I had to take an educated guess, I would say that it would take a single person about 10 minutes to fix tops.
I write sound mods for City of Heroes, so I not completely uneducated on this. It may very well be low priority (I would sure hope so, I would hate to think a high priority bug would take this long to fix) however, it is also a very low cost and easy/quick fix as well. I find it hard to imagine that this particular bug couldn't be fixed relatively easy without taking hardly any time away from development or other priority bug fixes.
The thing is it's not the only low priority bug there is, there's several other "would take 10 mins max" bugs in the game and hardly anyone uses interiors so bugs there that aren't critical, get put at the end of the list.

With all due respect, I can't think of any bug in game that has been around as long as this one. Not to mention, I think saying "Hardly anyone uses them" without having any statistics on that is a stretch. When you say hardly anyone uses them, you are saying that hardly anyone RP's in this game and hardly anyone takes a stroll for themed reasons and just to afk a bit or even use any of the functions on their bridge or other functions of the ship.
I think saying that hardly anyone uses them is going waaaay out on a limb and a dismissive statement.

As this isn't game breaking, I can understand why its low priority. And the fact its in an area that very few people visit... again making it low priority.
I understand frustration over some bugs, been there myself with one that was kinda game breaking that took them a year to track down. Code ain't easy to detangle, especially speggetti code like STO's.
Also Perfect World has nothing to do with STO other than being a distributor. Cryptic is the developer. And its two different teams who handle lockboxes and bug fixes.
Never could understand why people assume every dev can do every job. Its like asking a painter to pacth a pothole.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Well, it's like this. Cryptic's programming staff at this point is down to one actual programmer, a boss's nephew, three interns, and a well-trained chimpanzee.
The programmer and the chimpanzee are busy coding new content, the boss's nephew does ****-all for real work, and the interns couldn't find their own *** with both hands and a flashlight are busy posting on Twitter & Facebook.

I thought the cool kids were using tick tock these days. By the way, I am trying to figure out just exactly how long ago I first made this issue known, but I an't find a link to the original forums anywhere. None of you would happen to have an archived link, would you?

There's no C, it's just Tik-Tok. It's a site for very short videos of no more than 60 seconds. And that's an extension - the original limit was 15 seconds, for those with the attention span of a ground squirrel.

Which reminds me, it seems the warp out bug is still around and has gotten worse over the years...worse as in happens more frequently. If they won't fix that I guess I can really hang up ever seeing the Engineering room SFX fixed.
Ugh, Tik Tok, what's next, a social media page where you can only record your face...and for 5 seconds? haha
