And the Blog mentions the Buyout option. The last time after the Tuesday Maintence before the Alerts ended on Thursday the Buyout Button disappeared.

Then again, I'm one of those players that find the grinding for Specializations Points daunting so every bit helps.
With that said though usually the only Red Alert I do is the Borg one for the best effort versus reward ratio.
I don't know - the Tholian one is usually quicker these days. That one rarely lasts for more than a minute - even less if a player with a powerful BFAW/CSV is in the instance.
Heck - I recall a recent one, which had a Vaadwaur Juggernaught in the instance, lasting about 30 seconds, if that.
Very true, that Tholian can be fun & can be speedy as well. I'll have to remember to do that 1 this cycle.
Pretty soon, this will be the only content in game... just go WoWSTO.
What do you mean..."pretty soon..." <--- These CONSTANT events pretty much are the only content in the game these days.

Welcome to covid? The events are probably far easier to do under work from home orders, and even then they've still managed to produce full-vo episodes.
That said, I don't know what else you expect from an MMO? Events with rewards are basically an MMO's bread and butter.

Yes, but rarely to the degree they are in STO - 50 weeks out of 52 weeks a year; and the uninspired recycling of the exact same events multiple times that same year.

I've only been doing the Tholian. Try it with a Megawell. The Marks were 52 because of the Bonus Marks Event on top of this Event.

Honestly? I know the 'I want something for nothing' element of the playbase must LOVE these Red Alert events - but for me, they've become utterly pointless. They've aged VERY badly. I played the Tholian and Borg ones several times and not even ONCE did they last more than 30 seconds. Heck, one of the Tholian ones was wiped in about ten seconds by two players spraying CSV everywhere.
I haven't played the Tholian one in a long time.. I did one today.
I used my main in a Vengeance Dread running cannons. This isn't even the 'top tier' ship for cannons, it's just really good. I moved up to the pack, cloaked.. fired of my buffs, uncloaked and fired. I was surprised to see that both the Large Tholian 'boss ships' died in my opening volley.
I actually remember when these were kinda tough. I remember telling people asking for tips on this Red Alert that the one thing you never do is just charge straight at the 2 lead ships, you move around the outside, take down the additional ships and then move in as a team.
You're right, these have not aged well. The entire thing took just over one minute and most of it was spent flying around looking for the stragglers to trigger the end of the event.
Easy money, but definitely not something to do if you are looking to kill time or challenge yourself.
It's nice that the event that ended with yesterday's patch has been replaced by this event so that it fills the gap between the previous event and the new event starting next week.

Respectfully disagreed.
This new policy that there can never be a single day without an active event is something I am not a fan of. Luckily, the RA event can easily be skipped since it's reward isn't something you can only get once, but this whole 'play constantly or miss out' style sucks in my opinion and I'm sick of it.

Pretty sure you just said what I was trying to say, just in a more straightforward way. I agree with you completely.

I never mind them running this one frequently.

At least that does not get stale quite as fast as static missions do in other games.
Indeed no buyout button (it vanishes instantly). Would have used it as I started late.
