I have been using a well known DPs parser to get a feel for what my builds are doing and my own contribution to matches. In my reading about parsing from the various threads and those who are in the know, I understand that IAS is the standard by which to baseline your DPS?
I got to wondering as to why this is? Aren't a lot of weapons, abilities, builds skewed towards doing double damage to Borg? Why wouldn't some other TFO be used where species procs are not almost standard in each build?
The other problem in trying to actually get a feel for how a build does is that there is almost someone else on the team with an uber build that sucks up the majority of damage or because of their speed gets to the target(s) faster and shaves off 50-75% of the target(s) health before you.
I mean it would seem of course to be very nice if Cryptic would simply have a TFO with a neutral static target(s) to attack to test build DPS just like almost every other MMO has. I know..wishes and Cryptic..an oxymoron?

there is basically nothing in the game doing double dmg vs borg. dont know who told you that
isa is (especially in the past) a decent map, since it included movement and raw firepower to succeed and not just being a bunch of hp you shoot at. in addition, back in the days there wasnt anything else available and at that point it was used for quite some time and we stil use it
in clr you could upload other maps too, like hive space elite, infected space elite and a few ground ones. even tho, hse/ise require a highly decreased amount of piloting and are more big bags of hp to shoot at
the really high numbers in isa (and all other maps at the end) are due to a combination from teambuffs/debuffs, being at the correct position at the correct time and so on.
When I want to get a feel for my team-oriented contributions, I run ISA, because everyone does and it pops up fast. I'm also checking things like ATK% in for my tanks and Heals Out for my support ships.
But when I want to just check my personal DPS, I'm fond of running the Wanted (Argala System) patrol on Elite difficulty*. After the Benthans hail you and you start the next part, you can keep firing on something constantly, no downtime, and it's just you. Enemies are always Kazon (unlike Ninth Rule or Tempting Targets, which vary the enemies; fun but not helpful here) who don't seem to have too many unexpected immunities or devastating abilities. They make great fodder for that, and on Elite there's lots and lots of targets. And since you can optionally bring in a team, you can still use it to check team-oriented build stats. I just feel like it's a more honest representation of what I can do with a given build.
*Edit: now that I think about it, you can really run any difficulty your current build can handle.

- I did not know SB234 had a damage parser, will check it out.
- Thanks for the overall feedback. I feel better knowing that since I ain't (never will either) putting out 193k/dps in IAS that I am not a dreg of humanity

The extra damage against Borg probably comes from old anti Borg weapons. We used to have those back in the day, weapons with the [Borg] modifier.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

The issue with the SB234 map damage Parser on Tribble is that as I recall, some of your Reputation and other character progress isn't copied on a character transfer (unless that changed - haven't bothered with Tribble in quite a while) so if you're using any Rep consoles - you won't get the T6 Rep 2.5% boost unless you spend time working the Rep back to T6 (which takes a long time and in a sense defeats the purpose of getting an accurate DPS parse from a given build.)

Last I've heard SB234 was buggy as well which is one of the reasons it's not been added to Holodeck even though the devs want to do so.
Don't worry about misspeaking about double or 100%, Cryptic has a problem with those as well. The original Omega Impulse Engines had a 200% Cooldown reduction on Transwarp until they fixed the tool tip. Others had 100% Cooldown, when they really meant half.

There are plenty of reasons for why ISA is a poor measuring stick, but it is what people use. Using ISA lets you at least compare apples to apples.
Agreed.
And I'm still curious as to why 'Advanced' content is considered the measuring stick too, to be honest. There is an Elite version now.
Whilst I know that 100k DPS acheived in Advanced might translate to Elite, I'm afraid that said '100k' DPS from Advanced content doesn't look quite so impressive when you consider that it was acheived in medium difficulty content (which has actually gotten easier since the Elite version reppeared).
I'd guess advanced remains the stick because there is a low bar to entry. Elite, I still haven't even bothered trying, and I'm sure some of my ships aren't ready for elite. Some are.
But if you have to get through elite to get a parse, that could be a problem if you're just starting on advanced and looking to get a baseline for your performance.

there is nothing like a +50% dmg vs borg. the only way to increase your dmg vs borg is via 2 warfare specialist and thats just a minor amount of +% damage so its ok to use those but not really needed since there are better ones usualy around

100k in isa will most likely mean you will do more in ise, since the npcs last longer there and you could fire more at them without moving much. most people loose a lot of dps during the movement part in isa and because the npcs die so fast. the best would be to have a enemies around you could shoot at when all your buffs are running and you dont need to move
Hence, why Lord of the Rings Online has Training Dummys.

I am confused then. Every weapon on my ship(s) has this 2.5% chance to do Double Damage vs Borg? If I am running 8 weapon systems with every buff possible and this 2.5% double damages procs on IAS often enough...surely that screws the numbers compared to those who don't have this proc?
I have no idea where this proc is coming from, you mentioned "warfare specialist"?
There are things like the Omega Graviton Pulse that have a chance to double their own damage vs Borg, but feli is right, there is nothing that is just straight 'double damage vs. Borg.'
Things like the Omega Trait have a chance to deal X Damage, and that X can be doubled against certain enemies, but it doesn't just double all your normal damage vs. that enemy type.

There's one good reason: proximity to one another. You don't get that on maps like, say, CSA, or Swarm Advanced. Without good proximity, DPS will show you did much better than you actually did. Or rather, it will look as if the others in your team did significantly worse.

Your best DPS runs will generally be done in very close proximity to team mates. This is done so that all in the group can share buffs. This does make something like ISE a place to get good numbers because players can stay together and the enemies have the HP to take the increased damage output. While ISE is a superior place for high DPS players to get numbers, as stated earlier.. it would be a poor map to try and qualify for Bronze or Silver which is why ISA is still used as the primary map to parse output.
If you want to parse, parse solo in Argala or so cause ISA DPS numbers are heavy influenced by your team mates. There is no way to find out how much you do own your own going into an ISA unless you fly the whole thing alone.
C-Store Inc. is still looking for active members on the fed side. If you don't have a fleet feel free to contact me in game @stegi.

Yes, you're absolutely right.. if you just wanted to test your own DPS without any other influence, you would run something by yourself. The problem is, you can't run queues by yourself and Patrols aren't the best either because the enemies are random. To get the best idea how much you're improving, you want to keep the circumstances the same every time. The fact that the enemies in the Patrols differ each run makes these non ideal, but they're probably the best you're going to get.
Yeah, but it doesn't help for Pug STOs where all the other players are not executing stuff to bolster you.

Anyways..w/o re-writing the entire frigging response:
Borg Double Damage x 8 Beams with max team and individual buffs surely skews the numbers?
https://imgur.com/rLx89Q4
That gives a 2.5% chance that it does 1502.8 damage (751.4x2) against Borg as a single attack.
The weapon does not do straight double damage vs. Borg. The double damage is for the proc only and that proc only has a 2.5% chance to activate.
