skip the true carriers unless you want frigate pets. the flight deck cruisers are the only way to go with carriers, since they have the 2 additional weapons slots, and are far more maneuverable. if you have to have frigates, you are hard pressed to beat the jem hadar ships (assuming you have one of the JH escorts that unlock the bug hangars), and the Tholian Recluse.
if you can/need to wait there is almost certainly going to be a sale for Memorial Day in the US
ok,, why did you toss that mix into it. now i am confused. lol
i currently have a klink basic carrier, looks odd ball, like it has whiskers. but for the most part (90%) of the time i can handle most things in it. and its fun. i have certainly had moments where i cant even see what the hell is going on and im down to like 10 hull etc. sometimes get tanked. but again, im not a star at this game as a whole.
so i guess carriers have frigate pets and deck cruisers have what?
That's the Fek'Ihri Kar'fi carrier. I use it sometimes too.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
so, simple fact is i cant be as reactive in my age anymore to run certain set ups.
recently i have been looking at carriers, simply for the fact i can still enjoy my time, less button smashing (in a matter of speaking) and i get assistance from the mini me's.
i plan on getting one or two of fed and klink toons set up for one, and am asking for input and ideas.
i know this is subjective, so i am open to any ideas and reasons.
thanks.
If you are looking for the most powerful pets that do the most damage then with the right combos the Normal Lost Souls of Gre’thor are by far the highest DPS pets (not advanced nor Elite as those pets are worse). Which makes the Fek'Ihri Fe'rang Dreadnought Carrier from a pet point of view the best Carrier. If you prefer volume of pets over the best DPS pets then the Vanguard carrier puts out more pets but overall they are worse then Lost Souls. There is more to best then just pet damage.
Mines might be worth a look as well in the rear slots. Pets plus mines help get around reaction and/or joint problems.
Was just coming here to post this very thing.. the Ferang with normal Lost Souls pets is a hard combo to beat. The looks are subjective, so I wont' go into that (I like it) but the pets are fantastic and the layout is nice. I wouldn't recommend slapping cannons on it unless you really know how to counter that 5 turn rate, but as a beam boat carrier, this ship is hard to beat.
This is from someone who pretty much never recommends event ships unless it's a budget build. Even in a high end build, this ship is an exception.. it's a great carrier.

Indeed, I would have recommended the Space cathedral but I was trying to omit the old event ships as there was no reference to if they had them or not (if not, then the only option is phoenix boxes or, ugg...Mudd.) - If you do have it, the Fe'rang is a very nice carrier with powerful pets (to the point I think cryptic goofed and gave the normal souls the elite stats, lol) and is a very nice option for a carrier jockey - Just don't load it with cannons (however a rainbow heavy turret build will do well on the Fe'rang if you ignore how expensive it is in resources) - unless you know how to get 30+ turn out of a carrier even torpedos are a liability in which case faw or turrets are the best option
Its also I think the most balanced seatwise of all the carriers with an ltc sci, eng and a commander tac seat - Let alone the lt universal - so you can turn it to whatever style of play you enjoy relatively easily; miracle worker on the ltc science offering some intresting options for play
Truely, the only issue is the turn and its looks - Personally I like its appearence (plus what hot blooded klingon wouldn't want to claim their races mythological enemies ship as their own?) and it looks freaking terrifying with the borged up appearence but unsuprisingly it does not mesh with the starfleet aesthetic
ok, so for klink i went with the winter ship. i did actually sacarfice zen to get keys to get lobi. (yeah, not my best option, but it is what it is)
so, i am lliking it a lot. however, i need some input for squishy feeling. i currently have the "Quantum Phase" set (shields, eng, deflector) and i feel more thin compared to the catfish looking carrier i had previous.
so any reccomendations on changes to those would be appreciated. i ten to try and stay away from the thick of the battle and let the pets do the work, and it works for the most part, but dang...sometimes i get hit, well, more than sometimes, and all of a sudden two sides on my shields are toast.
To be honest with the Fe'rang, its best really to focus on hull not shield - carry something to top its shields up where possible (as any shield facing mitigates compared to no shield) but devote yourself to hull healing - treat shields as ablated armor - only replace it when its too thin yo serve its role
In my opinion, the a2d and a purple a2d doff works wonders on the Fe'rang (more turn, more speed, near gcd duration and a polarise hull IIs worth of kinetic resist and energy resist in one package!) For survival its hard to beat; eng team, he and whatever else you have lying around will help you soak up the damage

seems there may be two with whiskers. the one you mention as well as the other poster, is the free one for the winter wonderland. (which i am trying to keep up with and get this time around - if it is still an end of wonderland prize)
i have the free on from the klinks that looks like a catfish in space.
for free, if still a prize, i can wait to see what this fek kar carrier is all about. just looked at some vids and pics of it and doesnt look bad at all. still watching a few with the pets and such in fight mode. looks fun. more fun than i thought.
this may be a winner for klink side of the house.
(and just discovered with all this vanity stuff, things can look really different)
Yes, I have the Fer'ang too. I really liked flying it and the pets were great, if a bit squishy.

And that's what makes the Gamma Vanguard Pack such a good pack and by far the best expansion pack.
7 T6 cross-faction ships, 3 cross-faction T5s and all ships already at fleet-level (and some other nice goodies).
Most ships have at least one hangar bay.
Sticking to T6 ships with two hangar bays: Fe'rang: Tac-focused carrier (event), 5 Tac consoles, packs a punch and the standard pets are nice
Ghemor: Commander Intel seating for OSS, nice trait and the frigate pets can be used on any (!) ship

If you want the "best" carrier, and money is no object (real or virtual) then the Constitution Class Miracle Worker Flight Deck Carrier, and the D7 Miracle Worker Flight Deck Carrier are the top of the heap. Just be prepared to shell out for them, they're among the most expensive ships in the game.
For a free ship, the Ferang is amazing. It's the only event ship I actually ever use.

if you don't have them get these two consoles:

the first mostly the 2nd helps.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.
