so, simple fact is i cant be as reactive in my age anymore to run certain set ups.
recently i have been looking at carriers, simply for the fact i can still enjoy my time, less button smashing (in a matter of speaking) and i get assistance from the mini me's.
i plan on getting one or two of fed and klink toons set up for one, and am asking for input and ideas.
i know this is subjective, so i am open to any ideas and reasons.
Simple answer - the Jem'hadar vanguard carrier - works for both factions (once your jemmie has mastered it) and is a pretty decent war machine with a 4/3 layout - its somewhat science tilted by default but it has a lt uni seat to help
Another option for faction straddling is the Suliban Silik - 4/3 layout and is more tac tilted - and its its a romulan ship, any faction can fly it
Other options are the event ships but I don't know if you have access to them
I dunno a good KDF carrier (Maybe the Blackguard if you got a free T6 token) but if you got the money the DSC connies (either R&D or the Legendary) are decent enough for Fed, I use the legendary a while back and it was nice.

pretty certain my wallet is gonna say no to the legendary cost at this time, and for some time yet. arguments for both sides, but its not a viable or cost effective purchase to me. not slighting your purchase or anyone else's, just my view point.
that said, i do like the ships and looked at them at the ship vendor.
No one but you can tell what your wallet can take, so no slight taken
No one mentioned it yet, but the Ghemor is also a great FDC with a 5/3 weapon layout.
I want to second this. I bought it for the trait (not so useful now...), 3 of my characters use it for their "farming" events and patrols. My main character flew it for awhile and I really enjoy'd it. Even the default frigates work well.

The original Jem'Hadar Vanguard ships are locked to Dominion until you master them, yes. Not sure about the Temporal Vanguard Warship though.
KDF side I've got extensive experience with the Blackguard (Which the counterpart of the Silik for Romulans and Tellarite ship for Feds) and the Sarcophegus. The Sarco may be a brick but works great for a beam build and the ability to also take advantage of Command abilities. The Blackguard is relatively good all around.
Fed side... Haven't really flown many carriers regularly, outside of my MW Disco Connie on one character and the Prototype Dreadnought (single hanger) on one of my TOS.
KDF side though I would recommend getting on the Exchange and picking up Superior Area Denial. Its a good all round trait that also benefits hanger pets. You have a beam build and beam pets, you hit FAW, they get FAW 1. Also works with Scatter Volley, but IMO beam pets are superior as they actually hit more often with more than just a turret.
If you wanted a cross faction ship... Jem'Hadar Vangaurd Carrier is good once its onlocked, and has the potential to have THE MOST pets in play, counting the seperation pet as well as the Vanguard Wingmen. Outside of that... the Fek'lhri Carrier from the Winter Event, followed by a few of the Lockbox/Lobi Store ships like the Xindi-Aquatic Carrier.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

If you want a cheap start for the Klingons, get a mirror vo'quv...I have an engineer Gorn in one and it's fantastic with the BoP pets. If you have a fleet with a high level shipyard you can get a fleet vo'quv.
Otherwise the Ghemor is excellent, vanguard carrier is very good as well but really feels sluggish to me.

you mentioned the blackguard. what about the other odd looking one that has the huge engine look on the back side of the carrier? forgot the name and i think its cross faction.
I'm trying to think of the one you're talking about. Could you give a few more details as to design?

Ah... ok.
And as I said, its the Fed counterpart to the KDF Blackguard. Would probably be cheeper to just get the full bundle so you get that, the Blackguard, and the Sillik in one go.

skip the true carriers unless you want frigate pets. the flight deck cruisers are the only way to go with carriers, since they have the 2 additional weapons slots, and are far more maneuverable. if you have to have frigates, you are hard pressed to beat the jem hadar ships (assuming you have one of the JH escorts that unlock the bug hangars), and the Tholian Recluse.
if you can/need to wait there is almost certainly going to be a sale for Memorial Day in the US

Individually yes. A T6 C-Store ship is 3k Zen. 3 ship bundles tend to be around 6k.
The Allied Flight Deck Assault Carriers are pretty well rounded. Not excelling at any one thing, but can be built to cover many things. My Blackguard has a variation of my typical cruiser build, and has two hangers of Elite Slavers. Works pretty well. My Romulan built her Sillik to be a torpedo bomber that can spam Heavy Plasmas, along with two hangers of Elite Scorpions. What I call the Spamtrox 2.0. While not as well built as a fleetmate's T5 Atrox for the role of torp spam, it makes up for it in firepower and synergized traits, including the one off the Son'a Battlecruiser that buffs Heavy Torps. Before the Carrier revamp, they only had one hanger so I called my Sillik a Pocket Spamtrox.

im in the market for one kdf (so i can stay within the kdf realm) and probably one cross faction at this point, easier to manage and dont have to buy again. i hope.
the sarco appears to have less universal consoles. although the tractor array could be fun for the pets to take advantage of the bad guy while in stasis.
i like the jemmie pets, and more pets. seems ideal for me with my play style and lack of button pushing dexterity.
but the cardi has some nice advantages to it as well.
ugh. choices.
however, i think its narrowed to the cardi and jemmie for universal use.
you mentioned the blackguard. what about the other odd looking one that has the huge engine look on the back side of the carrier? forgot the name and i think its cross faction.
That is a siege destroyer, also known as a face hugger.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

started a jemmie toon. keep you posted. not sure about this since its escort at start. i suck at escorts. lol
You'll be able to switch the moment you get access to a ship vendor, don't worry its quick and relatively painless then hit patrols (mastery xp bonus) to t6 the carrier fast (If I recall, it took me about an hour or so of argala play and quit before completion to master)
Don't overlook the Herald DN Vonph Carrier. The solar flare gateway melts enemy ships.
The solar glare gateway is from the 3 piece console set bonus. The Vonph itself I think comes with the oblivion gateway which also can melt ships, but is extremely fragile. (It continually explodes on the target but it has such low health it will usually die after hitting things once even though it can explode several times)
Though yeah, the Solar Flare actually does insane damage, especially on an exotic build, its just a pity its tied to the 3 piece bonus
I rolled a Jem vanguard, pretty much shelved it straight away but one day will do a full polaron build.
Played around with the Jem vanguard dread and I quite like the wingman/pets concept so eying up the Vanguard CV myself for next time wifey authorises gamage expenditure.

If you are looking for the most powerful pets that do the most damage then with the right combos the Normal Lost Souls of Gre’thor are by far the highest DPS pets (not advanced nor Elite as those pets are worse). Which makes the Fek'Ihri Fe'rang Dreadnought Carrier from a pet point of view the best Carrier. If you prefer volume of pets over the best DPS pets then the Vanguard carrier puts out more pets but overall they are worse then Lost Souls. There is more to best then just pet damage.
Mines might be worth a look as well in the rear slots. Pets plus mines help get around reaction and/or joint problems.
For slow reactions the jemvan carrier lets you utilise grav well 3 on a target then sit at a decent range so the wingmen get the full distance on their strafe into the mass of ships it can gather while you dump torpedoes into whats left.
Might not be as large a well as can be produced by a sci ship but certainly enough to get the job done. Cardie sci dread would be an option for the more powerful well although they do lack the wingmen strafe.

I'm looking through the STO wiki for anything else that matches that discription, but right now I kinda feel like it might be the Tellarite ship.
