it's been ten pretty good years of STO. I can say i'm happy. I have tons of stuff and more characters than I can manage at once, but that's not really a problem. What I cannot fathom is why my ship still rams into stars in sector space travel, then head butts it's way around the large immovable object my navigator should have known was there.
Is it too much to ask to add the ability to have my ship go around the large objects in sector space?
Or when you're in an escort/raider and it takes half a sector to make a turn.
The issue you're describing could be down to your Impulse/Warp Core config. I Believe . . . my ship turns wider with the MACO/Gamma (Imp/WC) than with the Preeminent set for the same throttle setting. So I think the computer maneuvers at throttle +.5, and where normally that might be say warp 4, w/the aforementioned MACO/Gamma that's now warp 12+. But I have no way of measuring distance traveled in sector space so I can't prove that.

I'm not overly concerned about it. You know, it's just one of those mild annoyances of sector space. Not that sector space means much to my two mains. I use the Maquis Raider, Counter-Command Impulse[Epic], and Gamma Warp Core[Epic]. My normal running speed is transwarp 24.52, if I swap to the maco I'd only gain 0.8 in speed, an with the Maquis I can hold slip stream speeds of 56.42 for 2 minutes, the next highest time would be the Risian Solar Sails at 1 minute. I go from one end of sector space map to the other, or side to side, and still have time left over on my slipstream. Also, these numbers are without Diplomatic Immunity and,or Raiding Party buffs, just impulse, core, and impulse skill, might have the thrill-seeker trait slotted as well.
Or your end up speeding into the system that you've selected and smash into the Star at warp 18!
If only there was a satisfying explosion to go with that, I might not Fly AFK between missions.
Hitting a Star at Transwarp 96 just isn't satisfyingly real is it? Lol.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
