My poor Jem'Hadar First, I barely got to know you.
to say the Jem'Hadar got short shrift is almost a compliment to the devs. They got kicked to the curb for this whole Discovery thing that I won't get into. Romulans got better treatment at least they have a home world and a flotilla, and despite the whole ally thing (i also won't go into this) their ships aren't crawling with Klingons or Feds. The Orion on the bridge can stay but the Klingons and that Gorn at the end of the hall can go.
Would it be too much to round the Jem'Hadar out or just retire them? in case of the latter can i get my Zen back?
I am still hoping the Dominion will become a full fledged faction someday with more ships, BOFFs, DOFFs, a home base, more story, and playable Vorta and Alien species options (I am not one of those people that thinks we need playable changlings).
I don't share your enthusiasm for the dominion, but good luck.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I know no one cares... and I'll probably get yelled at for this... but...
The Devs have said, repeatedly, that ViL was not cut short in favor of Discovery. It ended where they had intended it to. Their original plan was to have us face off against Mirror Leeta again after ViL, but when they got the green light for Discovery content, they decided to jump on that because it was an active show. Once we're done with J'Ula, we're going after Admiral Leeta.
Go gather your allies.... next mission has us skipped ahead to after the gathering.
It came to a pretty unsatisfying end with what felt like a large hole for that gather your allies bit. And just as they did during the rescue of martok killed off a decent character who was potentially a good opener for another series of missions, namely the emancipation of the jem hadar. Almost like they were scared of moving too far from the cosy fireside of known voice actors and characters from the show by writing new characters.

A full fledged faction is NOT going to happen.
The reason they didn't do them from level 1 is so they wouldn't have to go and make a new storyline just for them. Unlike the Klingons, Romulans and Federation, the Dominion would barely have an impact on the story, outside of some places where they show up.
I think if they had anything, it would mostly be the focus on the Hur'q since when we finally meet the Dominion again in VIL, they have been dealing with the impact of the Hur'q on them.

I think things will be fine. We just have to keep an open mind about the future and let it unfold. What other positive choice do we have?

So get in the game and play for your favorite faction. I am...KDF. And I am currently leveling a Hirogen as an independent as well. I am loving my T5-U Hirogen Hunter Heavy Escort.
Given the horizontal nature of the games difficulty curve they're as viable as any other ship in that range depending on the pilot and gear they use. They'll only struggle for the pewpew mad dps chasers.

As long as you can clear content, not fussed about being on top of some chart.
Very. You're basically only missing the specialization abilities (such as pilot maneuvers), access to BOFF specializations (you can only use the basic tac/sci/eng BOFF abilities), and one BOFF ability (usually at Lt but occasionally LtC level - T5Us generally have a total of 12 while T6s have 13). And you don't earn a starship trait (but can use the ones you already have).
T5U does include the other benefits of T6 - scaling hull/shield stats, the first four levels of Starship Mastery bonuses, etc., and they also have the same number of console slots.
As mentioned, you might have trouble setting DPS records with them, but that's mainly due to the lack of specialization BOFF abilities... 80-90% of record amounts is certainly possible, and is still far above average.
What Westmetals said...I found last night with certain builds and skills I went through the patrols very quickly. I found it to be very exciting and a challenge to use the "lesser" ships. Something different to try other than the c-store and Lobi ships I already own. Call it a challenge to build a t5u ship and survive under extraordinary conditions! And I enjoy making canon alien races and getting them challenged with these t-5 ships. Enjoy.

That may have been the reason, but the way they did it made it feel like it was just the obligatory "starts at endgame" novelty character fad like the Reaper in Tera and the like in other games. And it would not take much to put leveling races in like Vorta and "alien" (unless they had to break the character engine entirely for the Dominion in order to do the horneytoads as the novelty race).
And making the Dominion more than just a one-race unlock would freshen up the game for those who do any RP at all (even informal solo "think like the character" RP) by opening up the Dominion to those who do not want to play the faddish-endgame-only Jem'Hadar.
In fact, the lack of a home planet and a lot of single faction stories like the Romulans have is not a problem at all (though it would be nice to have them if they expand the Dominion support in the game and they ran out of other ideas) since the storyline makes it clear that Odo's faction is composed of misfits that don't really fit in the original very rigid Dominion scheme of things.
And they would not have to make a slew of new low level ships, all they need to do is slap a Dominion style model on the leveling Walker or make the T5U bug leveling and they are good to go since even the most broke FtP player only needs it as long as it takes to get a ship coupon and get a T6 Dominion ship.
As for the T5U stuff, they are quite viable. Several of my KDF captains use the Kar'Fi as their main ship (though currently everyone is working on traits in other ships between the holidays, codes, and coupons). The loss of a console slot and sometimes a boff seat is a minor annoyance, but not having a trait of its own is irrelevant with all the other traits available from other ships since they have the four improvements that lead up to the trait.
Jem'hadar are awesome. So happy they were added, with the ketracel boosts, innate ground cloak, and some real nice looking faction ships with good a wingmen mechanic.
I had zero interest in them at the start, but did a 180 as their ships grew on me and their weird bioengineered supersoldier on ketracel slave thing despite sounding wrong, is a fun kind of wrong.
Any bit Jem'Hadar receive now will be a pleasant surprise. Would be really nice to have a Jem'Hadar Vanguard Science Vessel.
Another thing would be account-wide access to character bound ships. It's a real shame that my Rom-Tac main will receive the Jem'Hadar char-bound ships and not the Jem'Hadar. It's hard enough keeping things running on 3 mains, Fed/Rom/KDF, without getting burned out at the excessive repetition and multiplied costs of everything.

Given the recent announcement regarding the Klingons? -- I feel fairly confident it will inspire more story content for other species / quadrants as well. Including Jem'hadar. Their connection to the Dominion, whom nurtured the Feh'kiri, is a firm connection.
Personally speaking, I only recently started a Jem the last time they did a big "Gamma recruit" promotion. -- I feel like its well rounded. Much larger than the Gamma Quadrant module implies at a glance. Not my favourite, but certainly one of the best.
I think, if you got the idea that the Jem'hadar were going to splinter-off from the Dominion, you got the wrong idea. It was never on the cards.
