The Medic pack.. ???

While Bashir is a known Fed character, i find the medic pack in terms of BOFF*s fail's... Bashir are a nice addition to most crew's.. the orion is a joke, mainly bcause... its the same one we got earlier.. u cant even get the new one, if u got the other already.. so.. no BOFF for the KDF... :( - cryptic really do not like KDF.. but this... its going a bit to far..

Onwards..
What i really find odd - is that 2 CANON characters whom really would perfectly mirror the situation we face in real life, were completly ignored... granted ST Enterprise saga has been mostly ignored by Cryptic (except a ship and a uniform), but still...

They found a cure.. i hope our doctors do too... perhaps cryptic for once, could do a quick retcon, and replace Bashir and the Orion with 2 true "front-fighters" ?
(im not bashing Bashir - i like him, but in this case, both in case of parallel, and as a KDF player that keepts getting the stick.. it be nice if a little work were put into it ... a 2nd orion emh.. u cant even use.. nice.. :((

    The question is: Were models of both actors available and did they give permission for the use of their image.
    Since this was an impromptu action to show appreciation it is a fairly safe guess that the answer to both questions was no.

    So why even bother discussing this if the reason why they were not used is plain to see.
    This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    Bcause KDF players are still stuck w a generic BOFF they cant even use...

    Not everyone has been playing the game since 2010 and managed to catch every giveaway.

    The polite thing to do is say "thanks!" because we appreciate Cryptic doing something nice for the players who missed the earlier giveaway.

    Enterprise is represented quite well in the story arcs. Literally all the Temporal Arc has Daniels in it, and even an appearance from the NX herself!

    And OP....you're complaining about a GIVEAWAY! Get some perspective!

    I'm confused about the complaint here.

    They gave the players a free gift that included a pretty decent admiralty card, vanity shield, and a boff with solid traits.

    I'm also confused about why the boff cannot be used. Of course, it can be used whether you in particular wish to do so or not. I'm sure there are plenty of players for whom the traits are superior to what they're currently using. I'll likely use it on one of my budget builds since it isn't allowed to use stuff I have to pay for (according to my budget build rules).

    It's not like anyone somehow got shortchanged or deprived of something he was promised. If it were part of some huge expansion on which they had been working for months to great fanfare and we had to pay for the boffs in some huge pack only to be disappointed by a money grab copy/paste, then perhaps that might be different.

    We all know KDF get the bare bones of content updates. I am sure the OP doesn't mean to be ungrateful. I am sure we would all like Klingon holo doctor like Antaak instead of generic Orion but that would require development of a new model and that just isn't going to happen for a short giveaway.

    Not criticizing but making an observation. As a whole it seems minimal effort is put into STO in general. I just logged back in for the first time in a year or so and very little new has been added compared to most games around that length of time. I'm grateful for any additions to the game,yes, but it seems most of what they add are ships. Take Romulans, for instance, The whole Romulan rebel thing instead of actually being part of the Romulan Empire itself. Or certain dialogs in missions that are more Federation related than Klingon not to mention I'd think each story-line mission should have two versions, one for Klingon characters and one for Fed, tailored to each side. I mean having my Klingon captain talked to as if he's part of Starfleet is rather annoying. Yea Star Trek has always focused on Starfleet but that doesn't mean that Klingons should get more generic treatment in game. I like STO but for as long as it has been out they really need to refine it more as well as what they add to it. But until they do our choices are simple. Continue playing and make due with what we have or abandon the game altogether.

    They give away a free pack with some nice items in it (The Admiralty Card is great) and people still complain. I already had the Orion BoFF as well, I just shrugged.. oh well.. took the rest of the items and moved on with my day. It's baffling that such a thing makes people come to the forum and rant over such a thing. You're not being victimized.. just stop it already.

    I was one of those who hadn't gotten the Orion BOFF before, so I was happy to get her, and very happy to get Julian and the Admiralty card and the vanity shield.

    I think Cryptic did good to honor the people putting their lives on the line every day to take care of sick people

    I just lost a very good friend to this virus, so I do salute our medical professionals and first responders.
    Now a LTS and loving it.
    Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
    I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

    With the Vanity Shield equipped, the Ship has the looks (color-wise) of the Mirror Guardian Crusier. Those Terrans, Florence Nightengales all. :)

    I thought that too when viewing it. The Bozeman vanity shield is close as we can get to MU of gold/yellow as well.

    I'm surprised they didn't use blue (or green given that's the colour of the markings on modern first aid packs) instead of red for the vanity shield.

    This give away seems like it wasn't planned before hence why we got stuff given before (IIRC Bashir was part of the D9/victory is life holo-NPC pack we were given earlier). This also explain why the KDF NPC was generic orion rathed then a named KDF character, since there was no pre-planning there was no time to ask premision and make the model, remember that they had a Bashir mode avaible and had asked premission to use Alexander Siddig's likeness.

    Only issue I have is if my boff roster is full, the game 'eats' the boff and I can't reclaim it...happened with the dsc boff last time too

    This post is incredibly entitled and displays an amazing lack of understanding of the current situation.

    The pack was clearly rushed out in order to say thanks and to offer support. Obviously they're not going to be able to get the likeness of a brand new character done in time for it.

    Get a grip.

    I have the same situation. Already had the Orion courtesan.... I mean Doctor, in my crew. I can't use the freebie as you can only have one EMH Orion in the crew at any given time.

    It's the burden we must suffer under in order to play the superior, elite faction of this game while the rest of the undesirables and wannabes are thrown in with the peons on the federation side.

    I'm not complaining, I'm saying my mind played a fooly on me. :p

    Even though there is no mention of surgical mask being part of the give-a-way, I suddenly imagined a moment with every Captain on ESD wearing one in honor of the medical professionals acting, even now, to save lives around the globe. Then, again, maybe it's best to keep reality away from our escape from reality.

    Fear not!

    It doesn't eat the BoFF, it just places them in your candiate roster waiting for you to activate them whenever you like.

    If your candidate roster is full you can end up getting an item instead, could that be what you meant by token?

    Look in the C-store, under "Promotions". Should be in there. It may not be available, however, if the character's inventory is full, as it needs to put the vanity shield in there - if the pack isn't in Promotions, clear a couple spaces in your inventory and check again. (That happened with one of mine.)

    The Boff literally cannot be used if a player has some other purple boff with the same miracle worker spec. And there was no info about that in the description.
