There are 2 ships that I see being worth it for their console/weapon and that is the Pesus for the M6 Computer (for those of us without DOMINO) and the T4 Defiant/Valdore for the Quads
Other than that, skin fodder
Thought someone did the math and it was concluded that Dual heavy was better than Quad due to energy drain? course this was a while back when I read it...
Quads draw 10 weapon power vs 12 on dual heavies, quads do eat some engine power but.. oh no? They seem pretty worth using

Per character unlocks is a down side if you have lots of alts, and actually want all your toons to have said ships. Unless you have TON of alts, the Dil cost should still be less.
I assume making them Dil purchasable per toon also means you only get 1 of them? And if you dismiss said ship you have to re-buy it.
BUT Cryptic is giving you 2 weeks to go purchase any useful ships you may want. At least they didn't spring the news 1-2 day before as they could have. Or just put it in the patch notes the day of!
I'd have liked it if they'd done this w/ T5 ships too.
Using Excel to fit a 2nd degree polynomial curve with the 4 data points I get: y = 13125x^2 - 21375x + 24375
So a T5 ship would cost 245,625 Dil!
Exponential fit gives y = 7500e(0.7601x) = 331,559 Dil
I mean I'm fine with the pricing they've offered and I think it's FAIR at least at T1-T2 levels. I mean a 500 ZEN ship if you sold DIL you'd need at 404:1 about 202,000 Dilithium. Here in this case they used an higher average upwards of 10+ (depending on T1-T2) so the T1 cost is but 15,000 per character not 202,000 for 500 ZEN.
TIER; New Price for Ships that previously cost Dilithium; New Price for Ships that previously cost ZEN;
1; 1,000; 15,000 -averaged out upwards to 13 at todays 404:1 rates or 202,000 DIL.
2; 2,500; 37,500 -averaged out upwards to 8
3; 5,000; 75,000 -averaged out upwards to 5.5 (74k) 407,000 DIL/5.5
4; 10,000; 150,000 -averaged out to but 4 as it is 610,000 DIL /4=(average) DIL for 1500 ZEN.
Now after that critique I think it's also fair, to point out something nice was they reduced the current ships at Port offered for Dilithium. Today for a T4 ship you'd require 64,000 to purchase one, those were offered through to Captain (Tier 4) at promotions (non ZEN) ships, as of this coming Thursday they have been reduced to 10k for a T4 Ship. So their is some good news for those who want to slightly expand their Admiralty rosters a bit.
A slightly higher average be nice for old ZEN T4 if averaged to 5 be 122k or 5.5 be 110k; I guess the thought was Ships have very usable consoles, or weapons, like Quad Cannon's or Leech Console.
The changes don't really affect me that much since, with the exception of the temporal T2-4 ships, i have the T1-4 roster filled out. Might pick up the T3 Temporal Escort for the M6 console before the change.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

According to the blog the last sentence states This change goes into effect this week on PC, and April 9th on Xbox One and Playstation 4.
I doubt I'll even glance at any previously Zen Ships, I'd fleet marks over doing that. However the new lower prices on the previously dilithium ships doesn't look to bad.
I still remember at launch ships like the T5 Vor'Cha Battlecruiser Retrofit and Fed Advanced Escort were endgame and costed something like 45k Credits when I left. When I came back, I was horrified to see them cost an absurd amount of Dilithium instead.
Experimenting with different ships used to be cheap.
The prices I read seemed a lot more reasonable the c-store zen prices I've seen for some ships I want. Although with an aging game they have to add in dilithium sinks its just something that has to be done. As you could see for a small time period the pheonix packs were bailing the rest of the game out by fueling demand where the supply was grossly outweighing the demand for it.
Just my two cents but possibly make this into a system that bridges fleet holding and crafting together. So if person wanting this ship for more than one character that once a character has bought one it can have a reclaim item on the account that can be used as a precursor in which either shipyard can be used, crafting, or both. So it could still provide a dilithium sink per ship made but only the original purchase is a high amount.
I wish they would do this same thing with ships like nausicaan, orion, lethean, andorian, etc kind of ships you would prolly just end up having somewhere between 1-3 of them at the most for the T6 ones. Some ships basically really need this dilithium purchase instead of zen or either the option to choose between the two. Meanwhile I'll get back to the 3 mil dilithium grind for that letheaan pack only 3 characters are going to use :P lol so if its less than 1 million dilithium for a ship its a win to me
This probably only hurts someone if they have tons of alts and want low tier admiralty cards they haven't gotten yet. Some are fairly useful.
For consoles and the like, most of the low tier stuff is meh or isn't really useful on every build so buying them piecemeal generally makes more sense, as it does to buy for any costume unlocks.
Honestly, i have most of the stuff, except the Naussican ships, i would not buy one, because i'll use it on only one char, most of my ships are only used for one char... i try to not get the same ship for other chars (unless i need the trait), and i have a lot of alts... so yeah, this works for me, a new Naussican char would be practical..
That said can we get a consensus on what ships are a must have for what specific consoles? I'm hearing Defiant and Valdore so far. So many consoles out there its helpful to know which ones are popular and why.
Here is a simpler way to look at it. Since the former C-Store T1-T4 Ships are now going to be single Character purchases, ask yourself, is the original C-Store version, now Dilitium, worth 15x the cost of the same Tier original Dilitium Ship counterparts?
As it stands, a T1 dil ships costs 4,250 dil, while a T1 zen ship costs 200,000 dil, at current exchange rates. Which is to say the zen ship costs 47X the dil ship. Going from 47X more expensive, to only 15X, is a massive bargain in comparative value.
For T2 ships. Dil ships cost 8,500 dil, and zen equivalents cost 300,000. A 35X cost increase.
For T3 ships. Dil ships cost 17,000 dil, and zen equivalents cost 400,000. A 23X cost increase.
For T4 ships. Dil ships cost 34,000 dil, and zen equivalents cost 600,000. 17X cost increase.
So all of them are going up in comparative value.
Those aren't comparable prices, since the Zen purchase unlocked it for every character on the account. Which I definitely did for some of the consoles. Technically I still come out ahead total dilithium equivalent wise even across my multiple characters, but when you consider the time investment it takes to get all that dilithium, I don't consider it an improvement at all.
That said can we get a consensus on what ships are a must have for what specific consoles? I'm hearing Defiant and Valdore so far. So many consoles out there its helpful to know which ones are popular and why.
well if your gonna for the quad cannons, if you play other factions you also need the T3 kdf & T4 rom ships.
for kdf, T3 plas leech. maybe not needed but it always helps esp for roms and at lower levels, till you replace with rep, fleet or lobi consoles.
for kdf T4, aceton assimilator nice item to deploy, it's stationary and lasts 5 mins unless destroyed.

The Enhanced Plasma Manifold from the Oberth Light Science Vessel is incredibly useful, I slot it on pretty much every Fed ship I own. The Enhanced Induction Coils from the B'Rotlh Bird-of-Prey does the same for KDF.
I wouldn't call the Twin Phaser Beam Arrays from the Constitution Light Cruiser a must, but they're guaranteed useful for a Cruiser using Phasers. Not much reason to not get them for the price if you're running one.
The Photonic Displacer from the Rhode Island Science Vessel Refit is a good way to dump aggro, displace, and prep again if you find you've bitten off more than you can handle. I run it on all my Science ships.
The Constellation Heavy Cruiser Refit, Thunderchild Heavy Escort Refit, and Nebula Advanced Research Vessel are all Must Haves for Admiralty focused people. They let you ignore Engineering, Tac, and Science event modifiers respectively. The Constellation's Warp Burst Capacitor is good for Fed Battlecruisers IMO and the Thunderchild's Point Defense System can be handy with all the fighters around nowadays if you have a spare console slot to put it in.
The Transwarp Computer from the Excelsior Advanced Heavy Cruiser is useful for anyone that leaves a bunch of their power levels low but couldn't afford to put the skill points in Warp Core Efficiency, it's worth giving a look even at the tier 3 price. (Unlike the 2 similar KDF console for skill substitute options at tier 4.)
Subspace Jump from the Ch'Tang Bird-of-Prey is a super useful for any KDF Raider. Makes taking out the big tough ones so much easier by getting 2 attack cycles into the enemy rear before having to cloak.

It's great on a lot of ships; from sci boats to big ships that turn like bricks. I use it to reposition my Durgath all the time so I can avoid dropping Anchored stacks and/or burn movement abilities. I do suspect a lot of people turn their nose up at it these days just because it doesn't have passive stats.
On a similar note of stat-less consoles, both of the Akira variant PDS consoles are excellent. Phaser/Disruptor Point defense is great for ripping up targets both large and small if you're stacked for that damage type(it does scale). Conversely, the Torpedo Point Defense unleashes an obscene amount of a photon torpedos and WILL make the servers cry if you're running a lot of kinetic procs(Kemocite especially). I think my old Alita build clocked in somewhere around being able to fire 68~ photon torpedos at once - not counting fighters. With stuff like the relocate mines ability, cardassian torp platforms, and all the new torpedo traits, I'm sure you could do far, far more disgusting things with photon-spam these days.

Interesting idea to use the Subspace jumper on a science vessel. Never really considered that.

BTW, the old Dilithium Ships in the Ship Vendor have had their price reduced And there is a 35% discount on top of that right now.

i hate to ask this, but dose any one know if the sale of the t1-t4 zen ships are live, I've checked out 2 different ship vendors looking for the bellerophon long range science vessel refit, but i cant seam to find it, i almost wonder if it hasent unlocked for me yet because i don't yet have the full 150k dillithum, im not sure, all i know is ive been checking the ship vendors since Thursday and i haven't been able to find what im looking for

There are at least 2 additional skins for the Mogai or Morrigu you can obtain, and there are others this applies to as well.
