If you have the tommy gun, that works against Tholians as well. Or the Agony Phaser Rifle. The secondary fire on that one engulfs the target in an agony field and holds it immobile and does a lot of physical damate. You can shoot other things while your primary target is trapped, as they are untargetable until the agony field goes away.

I use this on Nukara when I'm hunting Tholians and it takes the lieutenants almost all the way down, then it only takes one shot to finish them off. Naturally, the agony field won't take a Tholian Captain down that far, but still...not bad. Seems to me Tholians don't like physical damage very much.
Now a LTS and loving it.

there is a universal kit from k-13, that I have discovered recently; https://sto.gamepedia.com/Universal_Kit_Module_-_Staff_of_Landru , not only it is really funny, and upgraded at mk15, the physical damages are interesting. i use it with my fed tac captain and my engineer ferengi captain.

Been awhile since I played this one but I think the Captain uses radiation damage? Consider taking boffs that have inherit radiation damage resistance like Androids and etc.

I always thought the captain used radiation since the ensigns , lieutenants and commanders all use radiation.
During the recent Sompek however i found out the Tholian captain weapon is actually physical and not radiation.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Only time I died to Tholians in Sompek was when a Captain webbed me over a lightning strike.

We did it! There was no single tactic that worked, rather it was a combined assault using all the provided advice. I was, unfortunately, unable to acquire a few of the items mentioned due of a lack of understanding of the Search function(s) for the Exchange. Here's how it played out ..

I started by having Zarva place a Medical generator near the entrance, I then crouched and took aim with a Phaser sniper weapon and pulled the trigger. I then threw a Photon grenade, timing it to detonate when the Tholians were grouped - it flattened them. Then the my fireteam moved in and assaulted the Captain while I concentrated on the Leftenants and the Drones with Cryo and Photon grenade(s) and an assault phaser rifle. As mentioned above, Cryo-grenades are the munition choice for Tholians. NEW-B TIP: Rifle-butt the Drones, it interrupts their ability(s).

I must've been deemed a clear threat because the Captain came scurrying down the corridor pretty quickly forcing me out of the generator's zone but the dang thing stopped, right in the middle of the zone and started healing itself! Bad AI - I think not, that's pretty dang smart LOL

Flores went down pretty hard and Kolez stocked his weapon and went straight for the juggler, with punches and roundhouses, backhands and all manner of kung-fu. T'Vell was doing her job keeping the team healthy while lending supportive firepower when allowable. Then I heard the signature sound of Zarva's pulse wave assault gun. It collapses and Kolez goes in for the kill. It was Kolez that dealt the final blow, with what looked like a spinning roundhouse - it was pretty cinematic.

All the advice worked when used in a concerted way. Anyone who reads this Thread take note of the provided advice and put it to good use and put the those Tholians to ground!

During Sompeck when I discovered my Solar Gateway was healing the Tholians neither I nor my team died.

It was proton.. my bad. Remembered it wasn't radiation.

Glad you got it done. With the Rifle Butt Physical attacks performing well, I would think the Discovery Legends Reputation's Mind Meld Device should work wonders.

I haven't delved too far into the Discovery Reputation, I made it as far as the Iconian story, not counting the leap to Delta prior to New Romulus. Let me tell how creepy the Iconian arc is .. I'll look into the Mind Meld Device, I do a lot of rifling to knock back opponents. Thanks for the heads up.
