I do not watch or like what I've heard about DSC. Their ships hold little excitement for me.
Plus the pack seems a bit light vs other packs for the same(?) price.
Maybe it's just that there's not much of DSC to work with? There's only 1.5 seasons or so.

[voted: other] No, will not be buying the pack as nothing in it interests me. I'm probably not part of the target audience (market) for this pack anyways, although I do enjoy the show. Am saving up for a cross faction mega bundle instead.

Why are the yes and no options opinionated? I don't buy the pack, but I don't vote since it says 'back to the drawing board' which is not my opinion. Why not just use 'yes' and 'no', your intention is clear through the OP. Learn how to poll, people.

Anyway, I'd like the away team vest, but I'm not sure it'd even unlock and a big pack for a costume would also be a bad deal.

    Overpriced and doesn't include Romulans.

If Discovery had Romulans, then there would have been a bigger uproar from Star Trek fans.

Then again, if Romulan ship designers 'rediscovered' lost plans for prototype ship designs from that era and then created modern versions of the....

Maybe if STO were to ask the ship designers from the Discovery series to draw up some ships that the Romulans from that time may have used?

If anything else, if they do slip in Romulans (which would be another Prime timeline violation) into Discovery, any changes from these 'prototype designs' could easily be explained away (as being the final designs ;) ).

    Cardinal sins:
    -No romulan/reman ships.
-Pilot escorts that have a weapon layout of a raider, but no flanking and less flexibility.
-Traits are baiting for the buy, since they might be part of the next meta.
-Trying to feed us Tardigrades and ugly ships after seeing that WE'RE NOT INTO THAT
-Technically 12k zen pack with four ships and some space-barbie

I sincerely feel sorry for their work. I'd rather turn zen into dil than purchase that in either combination. There's plenty of C-store ships that are way more awesome than those two.

After reviewing the situation here, maybe they'll learn from their hit-and-miss and switch the narrative towards more of what the buyer wants to buy/to be surprised with.

There needs to be another option that says "No, not interested in the packs at all."

I do like the T6 ships because of how much more powerful they are over the T5, or even T5U. But I am sticking with the free T6, or just ones that are at a reasonable price on the exchange. The prices are just a bit too high for me to justify either spending that much money on, or grinding endlessly to try to even come close to get them.

And it isn't as if I am what some might call an entitled F2P person. I recently got the LTS when it was on sale. But there is a lot of stuff that comes with it, that makes the price a little worth it. And with some of the stuff in that specific pack that is only character bound, and not account bound, is just a big turn off.

It seems to me like they are trying to go further away from account bound things, to try to force players to spend more money on the game. That is something that actually strongly encourages me to stop spending money on things in games.

I guess I'll buy it anyway. Still hope that they change things about it, I prefer account-claimable things.

Still on the fence. Regardless, the Klingon cruiser and probably both character costumes are on my shopping list.

Very interested in the Qugh (the trait alone's great for 75% of my KDF and RRF ships), DiscoBoP less so (don't really get on with escort types) but putting it in the "maybe" pile since I've toyed with playing around with a full Pilot ship for a while.

Already got two AoD Feds with T6 era-appropriate ships so not that interested in the pair in this pack. Nothing wrong with them, just don't need more and unlikely to be adding more alts or killing off existing characters anytime soon to make space.

Given all that, if I'm going to grab both Klingon ships and both costumes I'd probably be as well paying a little more for the full pack while it's on discount. Hence the maybe.

Voted as other. My answer is "No", but i don't agree with "back to the drawing board!" comment, as it implies that the whole thing has such a major flaw with it that it should never of been up there in the first place. I don't believe that implication.

All it needs is a little adjustment from one character on an account to account wide and suddenly it's very sellable. Even if it were account wide? i would never have the money or the inclination for grinding out the Zen on the game to get at this anyway, so my answer would still be a "no" anyway.

I might get at the Gagarin cruiser in a seperate sale but that's about it.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

You have seen the description of the new Discovery Operations pack and the stats.

Will you buy it? This is just an honest poll and intent is to see how many of us are willing to spend money for it or not?

This should be a no, but I don't voted for 'forced opinion'. The ships are fine, but the extras as single character are a put off.......as is the price.

As for Rom ships of the DSC.....aren't they in seclusion still, so we wouldn't know the state of their tech during this era. The klingons might know as they do have some dealings, but the Roms don't interact with the Feds until TOS.

Im a maybe. I love the Gagarin, and the KDF equivalent. The rest of the pack is ok, but I agree with the need for per account rather than per character on several of the items.
  • kurumimorishitakurumimorishita Member Posts: 1,410 Arc User
Am not 100% certain yet... I definitely want the Gagarin/Shepard, the two outfits (which means the BOFFS as they come with the outfit unlocks) & the M'Chla. I'd like the ship-costume for the Walker, too but I just have the Walker from the starter pack - so no T6 and hence its use would be limited. The other stuff I don't really want/need or I already have it. So I'm going to check the prices for the single items on release day and am going to make a final decision at that time.

I wont be buying the pack, already have the starter pack and i dont see the point in buying it again, Would be cheaper in the long run to buy the ships and costumes indpently over time... to me £80 is way too exspensive for what where getting
and £25 for a single ship. ugg

No, for a few of reasons.

One) the Cost it is too rich for my blood.
Two) the Wife has only been out of the hospital for about a week.
Three) I have only been playing for less than a month, so I really do not know what I am doing yet.

Nah. I already got TRIBBLE starter pack. Boffs and pet aren't account-wide unlocks. Ships aren't fleet-grade. I don't play klingons all that much and there are no Romulan or Jem'hadar ships (I really don't care if TRIBBLE doesn't have them. Break the theme and put some modern Rom and JH ships into that pack and I'll be happy.) I don't own or plan to get a T6 Walker and i don't really care what ship I'll be flying during those 3-4 days of leveling a new toon so skin useless to me. For 12k zen there are way too many things i don't like to justify the purchase. At very least they should make boffs and pet an accout-wide unlocks. Throw in an extra ship or two or hell just turn that skin into an actual t6 ship with it's own trait. Otherwise maybe I'll get individual ships sometime later on a sale and if i won't have anything better to buy.

    Three ship bundle is 6k

    Megabundles (3*3 ones) are 12k

This is a 2+2 ship bundle for 12k so thats a big fat NOPE on buying this.

The single character unlocks for the boffs and pet are pathetic attempt to justify the price being so high but being single character unlocks they lose most of their value. One fugly rubber klink and a fed with a bucket on their head means the only attraction will be the trait which is even worse than the buy a ship for trait mentality that cryptic pushes.

The really stupid thing it the pack doesn't even include ship slots of any kind but even that wouldn't make this any more of a decent proposition.

I'm on something of a store boycott anyway from the 12 hour flash sale policy (not convinced the 24 hour ones weren't simply aberrations caused by the anniversary) and this bundle just helps cement that stance.

No thanks. The ships aren't really competitive with other offerings, once per account BOff/Pet unlocks are essentially worthless to me, afaik there's no discount for the starter pack so some of the pack is simply redundant, no Romulan ships, less value than comparable packs... it's all been pointed out before I guess.

Not even just "No thanks" but "You're not even in the value ballpark with this", frankly. The price of two AAA titles for a few odds and ends? It is to laugh.

(Yes, I'm aware of the launch discount, no, that doesn't affect my above statements)

Was interested in the stats for the Miracle worker ships, but i consider the pack to be overpriced and containing too few items which are interesting.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Looked at the stats and stuff inside.

Unless they make the BOFFs account unlocked and/or add more to the pack, I will not spend 12K Zen for the pack.

I MIGHT spend the introductory price of 8400 Zen, but not the 12.

The ROI does not justify the purchase.

    Things I want in STO:

    1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
    2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
    3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
    4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
    5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
    6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
    7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
    8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!

Not a chance. Even if it had anything that interested me it's overpriced for what you get, and an obvious effort by PW to test the waters on getting people to buy packs and then rebuy individual items from the pack for different characters because they're not account wide.

not buying any packs after my 2 week (aand still not solved) gamma pack not claimable (another transaction is still running) fiasco
  • trennantrennan Member Posts: 2,839 Arc User
Maybe for me. On down the line when I don't have anything better to get out of the c-store.

Looking at the ships stats. Pilot, ok we can work with that.

But Miracle Worker? Umm... these ships are a bit out of their time period, wouldn't Temporal Operative make more sense here? This throws the whole pack off.

Plus I'm not seeing a science ship in amongst all this. Just engineering and tactical. Over all, this devalues the pack right off. They'd be better off tossing this pack up for 8000 and leaving it. Other than the hard core, must have it players, I don't see a reason to pay more than that for it.

If I had to rate this pack, on a 1-10 scale, I'd give it a 4.

I dont think i will buy it. I am still very angry about the change of the disco phasers with AoD, so that i cant make screen accurate disco ships. Also very disapointed with the handling of the thread about it (they changed, closed)

Why should i buy disco ships if their canon weapons suck now ?

only during one of their 50% off sales for the bundles... paying for 4 ships at full base price of $30 a pop is not my idea of value... this is even with a sale... normally bundled ships are sold at a discount in the bundled price... then we have sales on top of that price. ie the recent 2 ship cross faction bundle was for 2 T6 ships at 4000 zen... or 2k or $20 each. Then you can have a "sale" of 25% to 35% off that price.
  • rickvic#6033 rickvic Member Posts: 129 Arc User
Yes. with the first AoD update. But it seems that they dont want us to talke about that. Just search for the thread "what happen to the disco phasers"

They could have introduce new ones as new versions and let the old one stay the way they where. now i have wasted a lot of time , money and upgrades to upgrade them

Other since it depends on what they do on sale day and whether the total bundle is made more worthwhile.
  • alcyoneserenealcyoneserene Member Posts: 2,414 Arc User
Don't care for Discovery anything, except Disco terrans which were really well done, and a few ships that do look nice, but I don't enjoy it as a "star trek" show nor a sci-fi show.

Also the lack of Romulan ships which is expected to last till the end of this year is another reason to not bother with padding the sale metrics until this is addressed.

Also, where's the T5/6 Nova/Rhode Island science ship remodel and redesign?? It's a canon Fed ship! It will sell!
