I haven't noticed any real difference in the AoD phases, honestly.

What grinds my gears, honestly, is the pulse phaser beam arrays. Not how I expected them to look.

    Things I want in STO:

    1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
    2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
    3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
    4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
    5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
    6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
    7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
    8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!

Don't tell me this was a well planned long term 'non-expansion'. 'Victory is Life' was given the bum's rush practically right out of the gate. Discovery Ships were dribbled out piecemeal and not in terms of 'this is not an Expansion'. 'Pay no attention to that Expansion behind the curtain'.

If this were planned greatly ahead of time the ships would have all come out in this 'non-Expansion' Operations Pack, instead of Lockboxes, Lobi, and a lower level C-Store version of a Lobi ship instead of an anemic Operations Pack.

'Victory is Life' we hardly knew ye. 'So long, farewell, au revoir, auf wiedersehen, adieu....'

    'We're going to build that paywall;
And the players are going to pay for it. '

Well, enough exaggeration for now. ;)

Don't care still not worth it. No good ships, not enough ships and everything else in the pack i care less for. When i hear that the pet is bound to 1 char or the bridge officer are now not bound to one char anymore and make it sound like thats a deal, lol good luck selling this...

Some of the recent changes to the pack seem better now, but compared to the Gamma Vanguard Pack, this is pretty light in value. Gamma is LOADED with T6 ships. Even the Temporal Special Agent Pack had more value.

Who could have predicted they'd "allow" the BOff's to be an account unlock? Still, I'm kind of surprised they didn't unlock the combat pet for the account. That may be the next scrap they throw us to show they "listened". Probably before the end of the week, unless this thing goes live on Thursday, we'll get that announcement. Still nothing new, but it'll give the impression they are willing to concede on some things, making them look better. I hope folks don't fall for it.

Giving a discount for Discovery Starter Pack owners should have been part of the initial announcement, so this for me is a moot point.

Still only 5 ships and wanting 12k zen ($120 US) is still insanity though. I'd be absolutely shocked if the T6 ships weren't offered in 2 packs at launch. Either a Fed and KDF pack containing the faction ships or a "Raider" and "MW" pack. In the 2 packs, they go for $40, so getting the 4 ships will cost $80. Get them during a flash sale at 30% off and you're looking at only paying $56. Less than half the price of this pack. And that doesn't count the rare sales, like Black Friday/Cyber Monday, that sometimes offer things at 50% off.

They have to be sitting on more items they are going to add to this pack. They can't seriously believe that enough players will support this type of thing. At least, I would hope not. Time will tell.

I plan on purchasing individual components of the pack. I don't play my KDF toons enough to justify spending the cash on a pack with ships for them.

Hell no! One word. Overpriced! But not only that. The only thing I was interested in that pack were escort and miracleworker ship... And now that I know escort is gonna be raider-type like Aquarius and with a Pilot stuff... Forget it. Same goes for the MW ship. Intel, Command, take my money, but MW? Worthless. At least to me. 7500 zen is more "realistic" price for that pack.

Well, the 10500 cost (for those who bought the starter pack) and the Account Wide BOFFs make it a bit more palatable, and with the 30% off discount, it drops to 7350 Zen. Still a bit light, and I'm still on the fence about it. I just feel like this pack is missing something to make it truly worth the cost.

And no, I'm not actually talking about ships.

I don't care either. They responded to the complaints about this pack pretty quickly. We've been complaining about the lack of a T6 Nova class for near five years and they've never listened to those complaints.

I wish they would respond to fixing stuff ingame that fast but yeah different story. Also of course they respond quickly if they are going to make money of it otherwise people wouldn't buy the pack.

10k is still too much for 4 ships not Fleet level.

Still over priced but glad they have an open mind on the BO ...had they listened to me from the start we wouldn't have these problems.

But still this pack like AoD still feels rushed ...it's not like Discovery has a shortage of ships on the show.....since most of them are still not here it's safe to assume they didn't have them ready in time

I mean really the Nimitz was the only Disco ship unless you got the lock box ships when AoD came out and this pack comes out after the new episode clearly this is a rush job...this pack should have a lot of ships from the show and trying to fluff it with keys and a pet isn't helping it sell

AoY they had to make 4 ships from scratch and make 26c versions of them, then added 31c time ships in one pack had an Android and some other fluff

This one its like they cut the AoY pack in half but sold it at the same price...so are they gonna make 3 more Disco ships at fleet level like the time ships later and sell them at the same price??

The 30% launch discount hints that they know this is a bad deal but are trying to hide it by saying hey guys look at the discount rather than the contents.

And possibly hope that no one remembers the "christmas special" fiasco that bugthesda had or the red dot microtransaction from actiblizz.

Not the kind of thing thats so easy to pull in the current climate thanks to the big publishers being such greedy baskets.

Didn't the VIL big pack start out 30% off? It was either 20% or 30%. So they aren't desperate _yet_. Wait until they see the first weekend's sales :)

I agree with everyone that the pack is still overpriced, compared to the other packs I've bought. Delta was 9? ships + account-wide boffs and doffs, ship bundles were 9 ships, etc.

I think every new pack and bundle has always been discounted the first weekend.

I recall that bundles are not on "sale"/discounted on preorders. but once it streets they go on sale for 20%? off. that's why folks say to never preorder and just wait till they release to buy... you save more that way... also you can use zen and not buy with cash. or that you save more with zen once it is released that to buy with cash... ie just buy the zen and buy the pack once it is released.

Does the fleet version come with the 25c skin, though? That might be exclusive to the store version.

If this pack would also unlock the DSC 'rites and 'dorians it'd have a little bit more appeal.

Another thing about the escorts is that yet again they serve to highlight the lack of any sort of crafted option or variety in those weapon types unless you blow cash on ships.

Moot point personally because I dislike how escorts fly, handle, playstyle but having a crafted option being added into the game is way overdue.

Hmmm. With the BOFFs being account unlocks as they should be, and a discount for those who bought the starter pack, combined with the 30% sale, brings this pack into the price range of something one would consider buying. However, it really does represent an incredibly poor value compared to packs of the past. Especially when it goes back up to full price, then this pack is absolute highway robbery.

I WANT to want this pack, but it really does need either more content or a lower permanent price.

What would fix this? Throw in the Europa, maybe some more keys, maybe lower the price, some combination thereof? It's hard to say. It's just doesn't feel right yet.

Personally, I actually want everything in this pack, and I can certainly afford it, but I REALLY don't want to reward Cryptic or PWE or Andre Emerson (whomever is responsible) for setting a new precedent for packs being naked greed cash-grabs from this point on.

Price is still to high even with the switch of boffs to account wide, its still 2+2 ships for the price of 9 or 10 and there's no way one boff per faction and some cosmetic parts are worth 5-6k of zen.

Anyone figure out why the combat pet is still just once?

XP boosts I can understand (although levelling is fast enough not to need them until you hit the spec grind phase)

Upgrade things are there to lure folk into the misconception that you "need" to upgrade to top tier epic which you don't outside elite difficulty because there's never been content worth upgrading for.

Keys are likewise there to lure folk into gambleboxes. True you may hit a ship on the first one but higher chance of having 3-4 worthless R&D boxes, a couple of booster things and maybe a module or weapon box with the BS chance of a chance at a cosmetic shield.

Andorian and Tellarite uniforms locked behind a pay wall, that I can understand, but the distinct facial features should be free. Same goes for the Saurians if they get a Discovery makeover. Of course, that all depends if that was indeed a Saurian I saw in the Season 2 trailer. Haven't watched any Season 2 episodes yet.

Gone will be the days of 8-10 ship packs WITH account wide BOff/DOff unlocks, account wide pets (be they combat or non-combat), account wide ANYTHING. They will do the least amount of work for the largest amount of money they can get, and if people buy this in sufficient quantity, it's game over. And that can be interpreted in different ways.

    Nope.

While many people compare the Discovery pack to cheaper packs, I actually compare it to the other 'season' packs that go for 15,000 Zen, or the price of 1 more T6 ship.

Legacy of Romulus - 9 Ships, Shuttle, Boff, 2 Uniforms, Race unlock(Reman), 2 Boff slots, DOff pack, 30 keys

Delta Operations - 9 ships, 2 uniforms, 3 Boffs, 3 Doffs, 3 Ship upgrade tokens, 3 tech upgrades

Temporal Agent - 12 Ships, Boff, 3 Tech upgrades, 6 Specializations, TOS EV suit, 6 outfits

Gamma Vanguard - 9 Ships, Spiral Disruptor unlock, Cardassian race, Vanguard Jems, 3 BOffs, 3 Tech upgrades,
    2 XP boosts.

For the price of one ship less, Discovery Operations has:

4 ships, plus the Walker scaling ship, 1 BOff (per faction), 1 single-unlock combat pet, 5 upgrade kits, 2 XP boosts, 2 costumes, a buckethead, and 10 keys.

So basically, save the price of 1 ship, cut the contents of the package by 55% (in my estimation). Maybe Cryptic thinks we can't math? Anyways, as others have said, value of the package isn't even in the ballpark. No sale.

Oh wow, so basically you're worried about a business acting like a business.

Newsflash, this is how ALL business operates. At the end of the day, this is a business, and the purpose of a business is to provide goods/services in exchange for money.

The sooner everyone understands this, the sooner we can get past the butthurt and move on.

    On another note:

It's amazing how quickly people lose perspective of how great this game truly is.

The game is Free To Play and you can play through the entire game competently without spending a dime.

Is there better stuff out there that can be purchased with cash? Sure, even though most of it doesn't require cash to obtain.

Do we need that stuff to play? Absolutely not.

With the exception of the LTS perks, NOTHING is hidden behind a paywall. Everything is accessible via simply grinding it out. LTS is the only thing you need to pay actual money to get. Other games don't have this. For instance, Star Wars The Old Republic is only free to play until you hit level 20. After that, you have to pay to continue.

And yet, we complain about how something is not fair. We've basically become the gamer equivalent of the middle aged shopper demanding to speak to the manager when the cashier won't honor an expired coupon.
