I only half agree with that as some of the content has a minimum build level to work. Just about any build style can work but you do need to hit a certain baseline depending on the content. Sub-optimal is ok up to a point but if you drop to far into sub-optimal you are not pulling your weight and other people have to do extra work to make up for your own setup. Trying to run some of the harder content with everyone doing Sub-optimal below the baseline can be challenging if not impossible. To me suboptimal is fine as long as you are above the baseline.

Oh, I wouldn't take a sub optimal build into a queue. I meant it gets me through regular content/missions/patrols, etc. Stuff I can do on my own. For queues, when I do them, I will attempt to tweak what I can, and I do my part in queues. Normal queues, I don't do elite of any kind.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

When optimal is like 10x the power needed to solo curbstomp all the popular content, being suboptimal is just fine.

I have a question: How do you get players, who already own all these ships to want to play the Elite queues?
By making the rewards something new that they don't already have.
By continually adding new rep items every 6 to 12 months. Even to old reps. Not necessarily all reps at once.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

Red Alerts are a quick and easy way to see if a build is adequate for normal.

I wish Star Trek Online Developers would let us Craft Ships but they're going to need a redesign of their crafting system and players can sell user crafted ships on The Exchange using dilithium instead of credits. Only way to get the crafting material is by Task Force Missions.

CBS/Paramount said no to this a long time ago, because people would just go ahead and make Connies or other series ships without their say-so.

That's ridiculous. Cryptic decides what people craft, not the players.

Stop making things up and trying to pass it off as fact.

The great new trend around here is making up things that CBS/Paramount supposedly did or didn't say.

It gets more ridiculous every day, no one ever has a shred of proof to back any of it up.. ever.
    Insert witty signature line here.

Yeah, it's a game-balance thing. If you could build a dream starship that's 100% tailored to your ideal build.... you think the DPs charts are ridiculous NOW??!? LOL!
