The first ships of Star Trek: Discovery that joined Star Trek Online - the Crossfield and the Sarcophagus - are becoming part of the Infinity Lock Box this week on PC!
Once they wrote about DS9 regarding the retirement of the Lockbox, that got fixated in the mind of the Author(s) and wherever they needed to put a specific Lockbox name in we were done.

What you mean you don't remember the DS9 episode Context is for Kings in which the Defiant was jumping around a Dominion warship firing its cannons and later in the episode Sisko said "Si vis pacem, para bellum" to Odo?

So wait, does this mean we can expect the AoD content in two weeks then? Unless they're going back to another lockbox after the infinity promotion is out, we'd see a new one right?
This is a good box. TOS themed Romulan ship within is GLORIOUS! :-)
What Romulan ship? Only the Crossfield & Ship of the Dead were mentioned above...perhaps I missed a previous addition?
Previous included reward yes. Opened a bunch of these quite recently, and got the Thrai Dreadnought Warbird from the Mega-Selection T6 ships ( Infinity Prize Pack - T6 Ship ), the ship itself can drop from this Infinity Box and the "Undiscovered Lock Box", according to the Wiki. So the actual ship goes back to 2017 at least. But it was still nice to get one at long last. ,-)
( It's a bit Byzantine to locate it, for it's labeled Special Requisition Pack - TOS Dreadnought Starship (T6), and then sorted out by faction. )

Be aware that the Infinity selection box goes cheaper than the standalone ship, if buying directly from the exchange with EC, no doubt because of the alternate origins. Also consult the Wiki for the visuals, as tastes do vary. It's a tank-like bird with TOS fighters, and it got the bird painting similar to the T'liss, covering the belly. :-)

*sigh* Cost me a few million EC not knowing about that change when the servers came back up yesterday, the Discovery Lock Boxes I bought thinking they were cheap, compared to what they had been, but are now effectively worth a tenth of what I paid for them.
Its these types of changes that make me take a month long (or 2 or 3) haitus from the game sometimes, nothing is more annoying than grinding away for something, and then a change makes it all for not.
Like when people used to grind away to save up extra tokens so that they had them for the next Q event (or whatever event it was) and then the change comes and you can no longer use past tokens for future events... I'm sure that had more than one player peeved enough to give STO a break.
In this galaxy there’s a mathematical probability of three million Earth-type planets. And in the universe, three million million galaxies like this.
If only one could repackage such ships into an account-bound box, to make the ship useable for another alternate character even after it had been unpacked...
Agreed. I've already got a Walker class on one of my AOY characters, and I'm not buying a second one just 'cos I can make a new character with (presumably) DSC style effects built in no matter how pretty they make them
Don't think there's a realistic method available to them to rebox or transfer Lockbox ships sadly, although I expect there'll be Discovery-Era T6s available soon enough as well as a drop in price for the existing ones on the Exchange.
With this going on who knows how long these lock boxes will last. It might be better for PW to start thinking about a new business model to keep sto afloat. Predatory devices like these lock boxes that exploit flaws in peoples personalities are next on the chopping block it seems.
Old Infinity Lockboxes will have the Discovery Ships, but you must wait until later tomorrow (Thursday). The Discovery Ships will be permanent in Infinity after that.
To Emphasize, DON'T OPEN ANY INFINITY LOCKBOXES YOU MAY HAVE NOW UNTIL LATER TOMORROW!!!
And by later, probably after 8AM PT like the Double XP Event start.

Good advice. I was watching chat earlier today & it seemed to read on the "winning" announcements where the same player won (3) of those Spearheads within minutes of each win. Talk about temptation, but then I remembered my luck with Cryptic.

Dude... its not the boxes themselves. Its HOW they are marketed and what is in them that is the problem. STO is in the clear as there is nothing REQUIRED to progress in our particular game, and they cannot be sold for real world money. What is really the issue is putting things in boxes that ARE required to remain competative, like how Battlefront 2 did it, that forces people into blowing hundreds on the boxes for a chance to stay competative. And while yes you can buy keys and offer them in exchange for an already obtained ship box... you cannot convert those keys back into real world cashy money to spend elsewhere.
So again... its not the box that is a "predatory device", its how they are marketed. Really the only thing that comes close to being "required" for gameplay is Kemocite Laced Weaponry, but that's really only if you want to push your DPS. Not necessary to progress in any official capacity. So place the blame where it rightfully belongs, with greedy bosh'tets like EA who don't actually care about anything accept the almighty dollar.
Back on subject... I might have to stock up on some Infinity Boxes as I wouldn't mind getting a Sarco for my KDF eventually. But I won't pass up on some of the other stuff, and who knows what I might need all the Lobi for. Already getting a decent little stockpile. And depending on how low the Sarco drops on the Exchange thanks to the Infinity Box... I'll either keep up with buying a key or two every once in a while from the Exchange or just straight up save ECs to get her outright.

Honored Dead (Federation) (Klingon)
Black Alert (Klingon) (Federation)
No, they're right. The cross faction ability swaps them around. My Jupiter Federation carrier has the Honored Dead trait via that.
Savik - Vulcan Fed Temporal Sci
Dahar Masters Fleet: Alphal'Fa - Alien KDF Engineer Qun'pau - Rom/KDF Engineer D'nesh - Orion KDF Scientist Ghen'khan - Liberated KDF Tac

My bad. "Cross Faction"

Nowadays, only the current lock box & the Infinity Lock Box content is relevant to me.
Let the gamblers gamble I just wish the statistics had to be officially published for accountability & transparency.
