TOS Bridge Officers... Huh?

profwho86profwho86 Member Posts: 24 Arc User
Okay, so I know I'm a little late coming into this, but there were holographic bridge officers modeled after the TOS crew!?! Everything I'm reading about it says that they were offered as a convention exclusive, yet I have a friend who received them who did not go to a convention. He says they just appeared in his inventory the other day (he suspects from a box he opened, but isn't sure). So... What's the deal? Are they available or not? Any help in this matter would be appreciated as oddly enough the Net as a whole seems clueless on the entire matter of their existence aside from them being a convention exclusive.

Once in a great while, I think they also randomly give out the TOS holo boffs, among other things. Emphasis on "random"!

They might also give them out around the holidays, either as a bonus for buying zen from PWE, or as a thank-you for donating to the Extra Life charity.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I guess she was just one of the random lucky ones. I know it's a silly thing, really, but as a collector who loves TOS, it's kinda disappointing I can't get them unless I'm lucky enough. lol Oh, well... Such is the way of things.

They snubbed you for using the wrong Kirk avatar ;)

Be patient and keep reading the NEWS page, and eventually there may be a guaranteed way to get them. ( https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/index )

You can unlock them spending a certain amount buying Zen (I think 60 currency worth). A greater amount will unlock holo leeta.

If I recall correctly, one way they were given out last year was as part of the freebies they give away doing the yearly Anniversary week of the game, when there's a different c-store item given away for free per day.

As far as what the person Angrytarg above you said, mentioning you can get them from buying a certain amount of Zen, I have never heard or seen that written anywhere. I believe they may be well-meaning but mistaken about that.

The bad news is those holo boffs are not currently available. The good news is a group of players has made all of these costume files that you can actually download and use on any alien species character or boff:

TBH, some of their TOS crew look better than the official ones.

It was true back in 2016 during the Black Friday Sale if charged $50 or more. I don't think that's the case now though.

Ah cool, thanks for the info!

I hope for everyone who wants them but didn't get them, that perhaps Cryptic will give them away again during Anniversary Week. Maybe we might even get Holo Geordi too this time around.

Check your email for all notices from STO/Arc/PWE/Cryptic for promos you may have missed, as well as checking the Promos & Legacy tabs of the C-Store from time to time, as they could be there unclaimed, or added from time to time (as either special rewards or event/promo rewards).

I got my holo boffs and some ship in that fashion. I think Leeta too. Keep an eye on that e-mail box! Though with that, please be mindful that said promotions seem to be random.

Thanks all. I'll check my email. Even if I don't have them (which I likely don't) would be cool to see them offered again. Guess we'll see. :P

I have the TOS BOFFs as some poor sod kind soul left one lying around Reddit but I wish I has Leeta. She'd be better for my Terran character.

JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

While I was miffed that we never got the pack from attending a convention here in the UK, I did get the pack from another source that year which was Humble Bundle. Back in 2017 Humble did a Yogscast pack which included amongst other things the TOS crew. I was expecting that to be a single unlock but was pleasantly surprised to find it was an account wide one. A bargain at less than 50% of the price of a basic convention entry ticket! Edit: a whopping $35 it cost but also included a ship load of other games as well.

Still waiting to be able to use forum titles

I got my TOS boffs, allegedly for having visited a Trek Convention (which I assuredly did not). It's all just random, really.

Apparently I'd been to the las vegas convention which is highly unlikely as I've never set foot in mainland USA and las vegas would be one circle of hell for someone that generally dislikes cities let alone ones with lightbulbs glued to every TRIBBLE.
  • profwho86profwho86 Member Posts: 24 Arc User
Very interesting that they seem to give everything so randomly. As for the spending of Zen, I'm fairly positive I've spent over the required amount by now, but maybe it was only within a certain time-frame? Either way... I mean, TRIBBLE, it would be nice if we could at least get them from lockboxes like the DS9 ones. Although I'd prefer something more guaranteed.

I got lucky and got them from one kind soul on here who gave me thier code. IMHO the only ones worthwhile are Scott Uhura and Spock. Spock has an efficient trait Uhura has a trait that is a tac boost and scott has a ens level photon grenate mortar

For a company, it's always endlessly more profitable to just go 'random', instead of actually compiling user data and drawing conclusions from that. In snail mail, they usually get away with it (as no one knows of the other recipients). In an MMO community, like this one, ppl tend to compare facts, and soon realize something's fishy. :)
