Yes, but what is the criteria for which visual update done on his free time are they going to charge us for? If they create an Infomercial Mission like 'Beyond the Nexus'?

It's like the end of the world. The most hideous starship in science fiction will now be even worse because it can't hide behind launch era horrendous modelling any more.
Wow, Gaevsman must be from Temporal Investigation.
Great news. The most beautiful ship in the game will look even better.
Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder.
For me this is the excelsior:
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder BUT. How does that pic compare to a ship designed with quadrilateral symmetry? That dog looks more like a Breen ship TBH.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
Okay - this is NOT directed at you specifically, but four years of 'hope' have gotten me nowhere. I've watched every other canon (Fed) in-game model receive the T6/quality pass treatment over the years. I've watched god knows how many 'home baked' ships, both C-store and Prize Box, ships appear. The Nova has gone ignored time and time again.
This Excelsior quality pass is the first time in over a year the devs have done anything with a canon ship, and I BET you that it was "done in a Dev's own time". With that in mind, the chances of a T6 Nova seem less than ever - if our only chance of getting quality pass canon ships is Devs doing it in their own time then I'd say the % chance of a quality pass Nova are in single figures.
If Richter has a model for the Nova, it may yet appear. I get the impression that they wouldn't have revamped the Excelsior or DS9 if they hadn't been able to port his models.
I'd buy a T6 Nova in a second, but I think the Oberth is arguably more deserving of the next T6 release (whenever that is).
I fly the Sovereign the most elegant and sweepingly majestic starship available
Wow..we do agree on something!
The Sovereign is an amazing design.
It's everything people try claim the... ship that is the subject of this thread is supposed to be.
It looks fast, it's sweeping, it has all the right angles and curves in all the right places. And best of all, it has no neck at all, and certainly not one that looks like it can act as an emergency accordion .
Well they all got their canon models freshly made for LoR. All the canon Romulan ships except for the science ship and the scout (which were gimped into a runabout role) have a T6 version.
The Centaur should've been made its own ship like the Steamrunner, a Steamrunner-esque design was available for the heavy escort carrier beforehand.
It should. Other than the rollbar and general size it has nothing in common with the Miranda. It's the same as the Constellation and Cheyenne classes ending up as the same ship. The ships have nothing to do with each other.
I suppose we're lucky that the Daedalus didn't get tacked onto the Olympic Class (which, BTW still doesn't even have a canon model, never mind a launch era bastardisation of a canon model) and the Gemini wasn't shoved into the Constellation and Cheyenne dysfunctional family.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Well... according to the Dev Blog about the Excelsior revamp, they said something about working with the guy who did the DS9 model more, so it is entirely possible that not only will the Oberth get a pass at some point, but the Nova and maybe even the Olympic as well. Hell... I wouldn't be surprised if that guy has a list of ships he intends to work on. As of right now I guess the Excelsior makes sense as it was also featured in DS9, in the form of background ships during the Dominion War and the USS Lakota. And since Victory is Life is DS9 centric, made sense to push the Excelsior revamp out.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Excelsior is proably the most high profile ship design in Trek that hasn't received it's own series. Looking at Trek we've had Excelsiors apper in 12 episodes of TNG, 31 episodes of DS9, 4 episodes of voyager, and five movies.
Let's look at another Iconic NPC ship. the Klingon Bird of Prey.
5 Flims, 12 episodes of TNG, 29 episodes of Voyager, and 5 episodes of Enterprise (as an early model)
So yeah when you look at the numbers the excelsior definatly deserves love.

5 Movies? Hm... lets see...
ST3, ST4 (pretty much a cameo), ST6, Generations...
What was the 5th movie?

According to memory alpha Excelsior appers somewhere in trek V. no clue if it's an error on the wiki or not. I'm not going to watch Trek V to confirm or deny

I noticed that as well, but I don't remember the Excelsior in ST5 at all. I can't even find any screenshots of her in ST5. Only Fed ship I DO remember... is obviously Enterprise.

Well... probably explains why it took about 3 years or so before Excelsior was in action again. She seemed to function just fine under Sulu's command in ST6, other than probably shaking herself a part at high warp. Sulu probably pushed the Warp Drive to the redline to get to Kitomer to help Kirk against Chang.

To me, that's the Sovereign and Defiant and Prometheus
Same for me except replace the Defiant for one of the Vesta's and add the Excelsior.
In the order of how I favorite them it's Prometheus, Vesta, Sovereign, and last but not least the Excelsior.
I could've put Vesta first but since the Prometheus is my main-favorite canon ship and because it was the first ship I liked it will remain in first, I could probably tie them both as first though.
To me, that's the Sovereign and Defiant and Prometheus
That's only because you have a certificate to say you're officially insane. The Defiant is, unique, I'll give you that but the other two are objectively the most amazing looking ships in the franchise.

Yeah for real. Given enough time, pretty much any prediction can come true.
