Terrans are obviously the superior race
ALL HAIL THE EMPIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After what happened during the USS Discovery incident, I think you Imperial Terrans should try and keep a low profile for now. :P
Because losing most of your Lords, your flagship and its crew, the Mycelium network connection, 1 emperor and 1 pretender to the throne in less than a day due to one Vulcan-adopted human and one ship firing just a few phasers and a couple of torpedoes sure can't be good for your reputation.
Like I said in the other thread, I'm sure it's just a case of WiP and that by the time the expansion is released the number of hair options for Cardassians will rise, as will the average quality.

If not, Bajor will suffer. I'll find a foundry mission and kill a bunch of them. And I'll call it Tuesday.

One thing I would very much appreciate is if they can put a Cardassian color scheme in the UI. Since the Cardassians will be unlocks for KDF & Fed., it's safe to assume that the UI will be the same one for each respective faction, just as with any of the other playable species on those factions. However, having a Cardassian color scheme for the UI, such as the Orion, Reman, etc. ones would be a nice touch for us Cardie fans.
In my opinion, the Cardassian element here is a joke; as if the butchering given to the Republic wasn't bad enough, now we're getting Cardassians only as a playable race, rather than a playable species/faction. Granted I don't speak for everyone, but I'd very much imagine that many players want to play as Gul's and Legates, and would otherwise want to wrap their Cardassian character up in Cardassian Uniforms, fly Cardassian ships (with Cardassian interiors), use Cardassian weapons, and have an origin story that launches from Cardassia - but no.
I have waited a long time for the Cardassian to become playable within STO, as they (I thought) would have been worth returning for, but this? Nah. This isn't remotely enough to pull me back in. Cryptic could have easily done with the Cardassian what they did with the Republic; it's not our fault that didn't quite work out, that's development.
What a mess!
Why couldn't we have a playable Cardassian FACTION? Playable Cardassians (and Alpha Jem Hadar?), Bajoran-Cardassian Hybrid Veteran Bridge Officers, Cardassian, Bajoran & Alpha Jem's as [standard] Bridge Officers. An origin story from Cardassia; proper character titles, Cardassian/Dominion-themed weapons.

Agreed. It is disappointing that we got another Fed faction 2.0 (AOY) but not a actual Cardassian mini-faction. It should have been the other way around. Pretty bummed but at least they are throwing a bone... or in this case a skeleton.

i know how much you want the Cardassians, Flash, over the last 6 years or so? i remember some threads you created which were very detailed and a lot of bullet points to back it up. Infact i would be disappointed if you didn't have an opinion on the matter!
None the less, while there isn't a faction at this point? there could very well be one in the future and time will tell what happens with that.
I am none the less i am happy to play as Cardassian if all goes well. i've always had a backstory and a Cardassian in a Starfleet officer going back as long as you have been campaigning (never liked the alien gen cardassian), so to me it is a rather valuable opportunity.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
People bitching about limited options on a WIP race is always amusing. At least wait until they're finished...
Glad my bitching amused you. Feel free to bi-tch about my bitching in a personal mail anytime you feel the need to do so. Bitching should always be encouraged.
FYI: Making suggestions after it is in the final completed state defeats the purpose. Better to give your views/feedback early so they have time to make adjustments (even if they don't use it).

Yeah but Romulans didn't have much variation in the show. It was always cut short like Vulcan but in the shape of a widow's peak. The four new ones for their race only was pretty good though.

There is at least one male hairstyle already in the game that works well for Cardies. I'm hoping we get the uniform too, though—I need it for one of the Foundry missions in my workshop.

There wont be. They'd have been the next logical step after the Republic, and the fact of the matter is, they're releasing their Dominion Faction (which, as I understand it, is more desired than a Cardassian one) because they know (or hope) it'll get more of a draw. They're not going to backtrack by introducing a Cardassian faction later into the game, especially with so many people (likely) investing in a playable Cardassian already.
A half assed attempt on one of the most requested species in Trek, and people were expecting extensive hairstyle options? Hah!
From what I have seen for myself, I would not categorize them as "half-assed" at all. Looks to me like there is a lot of attention to detail with what has been released so far.
And let's be realistic here - Cryptic could add a thousand hairstyle variants to them and players will still find a way to **** and whine about it.
It's not about the hairstyles; that element is just a very small portion of why this just hasn't got (at least) my attention. There was so much potential to be had with a Cardassian faction, and Cryptic have just thrown it away.
I haven't played STO in years (literally); the one thing that genuinely would have brought me back into the game would have been a playable Cardassian faction (similar to the Republic) but instead we get playable Cardassians to launch from a FED or KDF perspective. I feel cheated. I had always hoped for a hybrid of the Cardassian & Jem Hadar; benefitting fans of both species, but that wasn't to be.
Cardassians have been reduced to a mere race within a faction, and if the Republic was half a faction, the Dominion have been reduced to what, one quarter of a faction? One eighth?
Did the threads get merged or something? Not that I am complaining. Although my notification tab is going crazy.

I will tell you why the Playable Cardassians not being Cardassians doesn't bother me.
I'm used to playing an Orion Male on as my Primary for years, in an Orion ships like the Dacoit, the Corsair, Marader, Fleet Retrofit Corsair, Blackguard FDC, Fleet Blackguard FDC, with an Orion launching Orion Slavers/Inceptors/Armoured Assault Shuttles/Tacyon Drones/Cutpurse fighters with 3/4 Orion female crew, using OSS as my ship's Orion Prefix, using an Orion UI colour scheme, and using Orion ship doffs and Admirality cards.
And at this point outside of episodes it feels like I'm already playing an Orion faction, not KDF. I only have 4 Klingon ships, I have like 7 Syndicate ships + a bunch of Orion pets.
And by long before end game everything is basically apart of Alliance Faction during episodes. Outside of Episodes I'm effectively playing an Orion Faction that is allied with Klingons. During Episodes like everyone else I'm apart of the universal Alliance Faction.
I don't see why my experience with Cardassians will be any different. I will have three different types of Cardassian ships with the C.U.V. prefix, likely using Cardassian weapons and Cardassian Hangar bays, with Cardassian colour scheme for my UI, with a Cardassian Captain, hopefully wearing the Cardassian Uniform, on a likely Cardassian Bridge, and I hope commanding Cardassian boffs and Cardassian Doffs. It'll be like being in a Cardassian faction.
In Episodes I will be apart of the only real faction in this game before whom even the mighty Federation is but a minifaction of the Alliance.
There is only one full faction in this game THE ALLIANCE, everything else is just minisubfactions you carve out for yourself.
I could see someone doing a Cardassian tutorial on the foundry followed by Cardassian "episodes".
All this talk of Cardassians makes me wanna roll my First Bajoran Captain and put them in a Cardassian Ship. You know, reparations for the Occupation. Then give the Captain a Cardassian First Officer just to add to the tension.
Unlocking via C-store purchase KDF Bajorans to balance out Federation Cardassians would be a nice little touch. Especially with the Bajoran Ship being cross-faction.
Although honestly my favorite Star Trek species is Andorian.

That's basically how I've played the game since forever. And how I intend to play my favorite Cardassians once the expansion hits. Basically making the most of what we got. Sometimes I sacrifice apex performance, but I enjoy keeping things thematic. For example, my Klingon KDF characters only use Klingon ships and full Klngon crews.
