I've been playing for 7 years, not only did I never have the slightest desire to get the leach, I never needed it for anything. I can and do play any content in the game, with any ship class & any career character & succeed at it. Frequently outperforming dpsers who swear by the leach. It does not matter how much the console cost, it does not matter how much of a boost it gave then or now. The only factor that matters, Can you succeed without it? Can you succeed at any difficulty level of content without it? If the answer to both questions is yes then you don't need it, if you don't need it then it is not "must have" and never was. If the content was impossible to do without it then it would be must have but that is not and never was the case. And napalm it has nothing to do with Cryptic.

I've been playing role playing games since the mid 80s, but I have no idea what anyone would call an "RP Build" in STO, I notice you didn't bother to actually answer my question on that so I'm assuming you made up the term.

An example of an RP build, would be what my 2nd main toon uses. Corrosive Plasma with the Terran DHC, for a burning theme to match his personality. Where the weaponry, and visuals match the theme. Runs the mining drill laser console as well, for the look when activated. Often there is a description of what each effect does, when RPing with others.

Lots of people will say RP builds are TRIBBLE though, as a means to sneer at others.
