Probably a stupid question but I have an Infinity Prize Pack: T6 Ship now (unopened) and what I want to ask is will this pack be updated to the new one if I keep it or will it stay the same and the new infinity pack: T6 ship will be completely separate from the current infinity prize pack: T6 ships (if that makes sense)
But they are updating it by putting in Never Sold Before NEW stuff? What happens to the old stuff?
Old stuff continues to be old stuff. See the T6 updates to Elachi, Cardassian, and Tal Shiar ships. The Infinity box has been updated like this several times. The only new thing about this is that it's not being spurred by a lock box re-release for the consoles. They're now following in-step with PC releases, so the T6 updates are going straight to Infinity for everyone.

One day, the lockboxes will evolve to become sentient and battle the tribbles in our inventory.
Sorry off track - There should be at least one temporal seating on these ships. maybe someone can go back in time and add it since not all stats are final yet?
Okay, got some beef to settle with money grab central command -- err -- our new Perfect World overlords -- err -- Cryptic? Are they still in there?
Anyone else remember when we were told T5 and T6 are essentially the same and not to worry about the new T6 ships as all they would have is an extra console slot, some traits things and maybe rare bridge officer configurations? (P.S. They never said that T6 alone would be the only group of ships to get Temporal / Pilot / Command / etc. BOFF slots, and yet here we are with that...) Instead it became, "You can do the exact same things! We promise!.... *cough* if you spend 500 Zen to upgrade those ships each *cough cough*..."
Now here this:
"Our continued efforts to convert older Tier 5 Lock Box ships to Tier 6 has led to the offerings available in the Tier 5 Ship box to dwindle more and more as time goes by. Combining it with the long list of ships currently included in the Secondary Ship pack is an effort to avoid a situation where this pack loses all value due to having little or nothing to offer." - Jeremy “BorticusCryptic” Randall
WOAH!!! But wait Mr. Randall!! T5 are virtually the same, right?!?!? Plus, don't those T5 get a free upgrade?!?!? Why would an upgraded T5 NOT have the value of a T6? Just for the magic of a trait for new people unlocking them? Well, have I got a solution for you!!! Add a 5th trait slot to the T5-U, and make the BOFF slot a Temporal/Science thingy, and voila!!! Just a slight patch of retroactive magic! Right?...
NOPE! MUST GET NEW SHIP FOR BENEFITS. THANK YOU LOYAL GRINDERS! WE CRYPTIC. WE LOVE MORE MONEY PLZZZ
I get it. STO is Free-to-Play. Instead of busting out non-canonical ships, alienating your veteran player base and having a constant fear of losing money, I got some whacky solutions. YES! You heard it right folks!! A venting fan WITH solutions!!!! WOAHHHH!!!! Stay tuned gang!
First, you added “Experimental Weapons Slots”, “Secondary Deflector Slots”, “Command Signals”, and all T5 ships the ability to update with T5-U, so NO ONE!! NOT A SINGLE DEV, COMMUNITY MANAGER, PLAYER or OTHERWISE!!! Should EVER say that we cannot “update an already released ship”. That would be dishonorable, disgusting and untrue. Upgrade all T5 lock box ships to the T6 variants. No harm done, and those who wouldn’t have grinded cause it is virtually identical (minus the new T6 consoles having built in extra passives to give you a taste of “wow, I think the extra millions of EC / thousands of keys I went to was worth it!”) and most vets wouldn’t purchase the new nor try and get the new T6, but I only can speak for myself there.
Next, be open and honest! You said at the onset, T5 is not worth it for peeps anymore nor a big incentive! That was in this article! Make them worth it with a free T5 upgrade per those ones, like the Kazon or ACU ships! That would be generous and hardly game changing, plus would add value on the exchange, increase box key purchases and add value to unique but not fully developed ships!
Finally, why is it that we must pay for the latest and greatest? You had an amazing opportunity with the T6 release of the Andorian and Multi-Science ships. If you upgrade the pack of T5 equivalents for all future buyers, THEN for those who already have packs of this sort, you make an “upgrade pack” that splits the difference between either just the ship, the set of 3 Andorians or for all 9 (granted Rom and KDF didn’t have equivalents, but same premise for fed equivalent pack of 3), then I would suspect several people may pay the 1-2 thousand to try out the full set of 3 updates to some fun ships!
Finally, and this is crucial. To make money, and to keep you player base happy, come up with a simple lock box that works exactly like your R&D upgrade system / new salvage system! Allow us when we open a box to have a “rarity” bar so we can “set” the dial on what “modifiers” we want, and how close we may be to getting it! (In salvage, you can keep your damage mod, accuracy, whatever. In this you would set an, “I want a T6 ship!” or “Weapons packs”. From there, like the chance of getting a rarity increase when upgrading an item, you can put x-boxes into the “upgrade” equivalent opening system, and for 50 boxes, you may get a 20% chance to get a T6, then if you don’t get it, your next 50 may bring you up to a 50% chance up until you reach ___ boxes and then eventually have a 99% for the next box to give you that! Would really be a nice gesture to us all…
Finally, and I remember this during the anniversaries of the past, but free ships really went a long way and were fun to get. Granted, you gave us the non-selling ships, but was still nice that we got 2-3 thousand value of Zen in a week of loyalty logins. Why not work off this idea, create more interiors / contract it out to foundry authors and give the winner in-game benefits, then charge ___ Zen in game for players to get new and cool interiors?! That would be awesome and something discussed from start.
I love this game, and as is clear from this long post, am maybe too far into this stuff, but thankfully I have a life to write about my passion which has brought millions together; Star Trek. I hope STO lives to see the 20th Anniversary (hopefully WITHOUT T7 ships, but come what may), but I seriously hope we honor Star Trek’s memory in the process. Been two years, and even if legally you can’t give the ship to some people for state laws, releasing who you could, what qualified and why some got it would actually mend some old wounds here and a lot more in the community at large
One last bit, +1 for the temporal perks (i.e., Commander Temporal hybrid BOFF slot, Temporal Ship perks and Subatomic disruptor experimental weapons slot for BOTH science and destroyer classes, think that would be an easy picked up benefit), and really hope Jeremy “BorticusCryptic” Randall remembers the last "note line of the posting...
"NOTE: The above stats for all ships are subject to change."
I really hope they do... before Tuesday... See above please... Grrrrr... Love your work, and it is usually good work, just overpriced, undervalue, and not run by a test group, player base nor survey of any kind. Can we get player surveys? Perhaps for 2 Zen once per month in-game? I think it may give everyone a more family experience and would help you (Cryptic) with understanding what players want! Win-win?
Waiting for those new tier 6 temporal ships to come to consoles is going to be tougher than usual, as I've come to like temporal thingamajigs in STO quite a bit!
+1 to Cmdr. Temporal boff seat and Molecular Reconstruction for the Sci ships, heavy weapon slot for the Destroyers, and Aeon skin for them both. I mean, if I can use the Aeon skin on my Paradox why should it not be usable for the upgraded T6 versions of the original Temporal ships?

So I take it by the fact that there's been time to post a key sale promo and the First Contact Day announcement blog, but no time to drop in here and post a "I've passed on your feedback and the devs are reviewing it" placation post that nothing is going to happen and these will release as mediocre and half done as they were previewed? It would be nice to have something from the devs at least explaining why these are inferior to other lockbox grandprize rewards and lobi store offerings.
Unlocking Temporal Backstep and the 3pc console set for all ships is a terrible design choice and will only bring negative feedback. Reconsider this choice.
Also the stats on both ships are underwhelming, just a single half specialist seat?

Indeed, sir. One would legitimately wonder what the point of an official forum is if devs or authorized representatives seem to pay it little notice? Especially with certain other companies being justifiably criticized for similar inattention.

I don't see Temporal Backstep, in and of itself, being an issue; it's only the bonus effect from having the Manheim Device as well which might cause problems... on the other hand, the tangos being held and incapable of action does allow folks a few seconds to get into position to unload on them when the effect wears off.
On a lighter note, does anybody else have names planned out for their new ships in advance? In this case...
Could someone please post the exchange price for the Temporal Science Vessel (T6) when possible?
Won't be in-game until much later today and curious to know how much EC I'll need to part with.
AFAIK the changes will not go into effect till 14.5 so nobody can check the T6 prices yet.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
At this point I really suspect T6 ship 'upgrade' packs will be sold that change or upgrade ship specializations. Those with full commander level and spec abilities will probably just be made stronger.
A time existed when hero ships like the T6 Defiant not having full pilot spec made sense, to preserve the (economic) balance between canon and canon-based ships (since they can sometimes use the canon skins) and entirely cryptic designs, but that's been thrown out the window repeatedly.
Can't decide which is most disappointing, lacking a singularity core and cloaks, lacking a different secondary specialization seat (such as Miracle Worker to toggle the trait), lacking commander temporal and molecular beam on the hero timeship of Star Trek that costs a fortune in gambling, or consoles no longer being unique to the ships (which partly justified the costs of the Annorax and Paradox). Also no fixes still for the half-broken backstep animation.
I got my T6 Temporal Destroyer (from the Exchange), and I have to say I'm very impressed so far.
Looks awesome, and feels like exactly what it is supposed to - an upgrade on the Mobius I've been flying for years.
My only tiny gripe is that they don't seem to have made any changes to the Temporal bridge - would have been nice to give the inside an update to go with the outside, but unless I'm missing something they haven't done so. In terms of functionality though, I'm a very happy Captain.
Aha! So the lies continue! "Unlikely we'll be adding more Ultra-Rare T6 ships anytime soon" so they'll be integrated into the infinity lock box? OKAY!
So where is my T6 Annorax? Bulwark? Elachi Sheshar? Jem'Hadar Recon / Strike? WELP! That's a bummer... So much for clarity in dissemination of information!

I dont see it being much of an upgrade..Same base stats as the T5U,(speed,hull,turn,inertia and yes I'm currently rocking in the T5U )..The Chief difference being the LTC Tac/Temporal..I cant see that being a huge difference (Tho I do love Rapid decay..)

Yeah. A simple lighting change from blue to red would have at least made it nicer.

It's strange because on paper you're absolutely right (I think the only other difference is that the Klein has +15 to Weapons against the +10 of the Mobius) and I've built the Klein virtually identically to how I had the Mobius, with some added temp powers, but yet it really does feel like I'm getting more of a punch out of it.
A word for the aesthetics too - when I read the announcement blog I didn't think I'd like the Klein and just figured I'd get one and use the Mobius skin, but in-game the Klein looks great (I have the 'Upgrade' material on mine) and I actually prefer it to the Mobi.

Do you parse? That usually settles the "feels different vs actually preforms better" for me.
Are these two temporal redone ships any good or just get them for consoles? Prices in the exchange a bit too high for them...if that is an indicator how good/bad might these be?

I did not realize they are taking T-5's from the old Lockboxes and updating them to T-6's.
I can see how they are organizing this, now.
In these new Infinity Lockboxes...I will be looking for “Infinity Prize Pack: Tier 5 Ship”
For the boxes with Mirror Ships / Admiralty Cards.
