Another "Failed to launch GameClient.exe: client quit unexpectedly" error

I went to update the game on a laptop I haven't used in awhile. The launcher starts fine, updated fine, but when I attempt to start the game I get the "Failed to launch GameClient.exe: client quit unexpectedly" error. When I run gameclient.exe from the x86 folder it gives me a long list of files it says are missing but are not. They are all in the live folder where they should be. Multiple force verifies did nothing.

I worked around it by copying all the files it wants into the x86 folder, but this is obviously not how it should work. No idea why this machine is having an issue when none of my others do. Frankly I'm at a loss.

If anyone has ideas I'm listening. And if anyone else is having this problem this is a viable workaround.

    there should still be a gameclient.exe in the central live folder. did you try that one?

    I don't think that's an actual client anymore. The time/date stamp is from 2017. When I run it it starts to load (I get the Cryptic loading screen) but then crashes.

    maybe try backing up the copy in the main live folder and copying the one from x64 or x86 to the main folder and try launching it from that?

    And today the problem is gone. No clue why. I didn't do anything.

    I had the same problem, but no file warnings. Problem has been going on for months now I've even gone so far as to change my modem and still the problem persists.

    Cryptic loading screen here as well. Halfway through that, it crashes to desktop. When I try again, it forces a verify. After I hit that engage button, it goes to load, then crashes again at the halfway progress bar on the Cryptic load screen. :(

    Same here. I did the file verify thing 4 times, tried using the game's executable from the folder, tried Arc. No joy here. Crashes halfway at Cryptic load screen's progress bar each time. Looks like a full day is gone at this rate. :(

    This is a bug. They reported it on Twitter.

    Did you try safe mode?
