like, before you clicked on "library" and would find the games to play, now.... where did that option go to?? its been a while since i played sto, in part due to the fact i have to use arc........ it's another reason why i dont sub. if they got rid of arc, i would sub , but as long as arc exists, i will never sub. cause its all just ... ***sigh*** how do i play my games now? sto, champs, etc? like, whenever i go away from the game a while, and return, arc has changed in some way , which makes things more difficut to figure out !

ok, this is turning into a rant. i will stop..... whoever is in charge of arc, really needs to use a freaking BRAIN for once . god.... why am i talking here bout arc? cause i mainly use it to play star trek, and possibly, just possibly, if any type of Hope exists out here, sto will say, enough is enough , with arc, and Finally GET RID OF THE SUCKA !!!! phew ****** <takes out cigarette> ok, time to relax. lol . please tell me i'm not the only one who thinks this....

At this time, you really don't need ARC to play STO.

That could change in the future, but for now, use this...

    files.startrekonline.com/launcher/Star%20Trek%20Online.exe

It's an older link, but after it updates the first time on your computer it should be fine.

I still have ARC installed on my 'puter, but I just shut it off unless/until I want to buy ZEN.

Speaking of using brains, how about...say...not using arc? I mean you could....sigh...make a short cut to the STO EXE and launch from there, same with other games. ....sigh...maybe not even install arc?

Not really sorry to sound snarky, but really, Arc is not needed to play Star Trek. I never did till today just to try out the quest things. Oh and since there is no library tab on the left side maybe you should just see what the last button does? I found it in less time than it took to read your OP.

Ya know, some folks really don't know/understand that they can play the game without ARC.
Especially somebody who's only 21 posts into this forum.
So being "snarky" is kind of unnecessary.

Personally, I love Arc! :) Yeah, erm, maybe not 'love' per se, LOL, but I llike it logs in for me automagically; and it's really light-weight. And it makes charging Zen a lot easier and safer than via STEAM. The latter seems to be (purposely?) frustrated by PWE, in that regard; subsidiarily, the two companies don't seem to like each other much any more.

Arc bad. They'd not have to bribe people with their new Points to Zen thing if it wasn't.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Against my better judgement I was giving it a try. My first mission? Play STO on 2 different days. Done it, got the 150 points, fair enough. But now my log is filled with quests about playing other games. And it only lets you skip one quest per day. Doing so exchanged the quest about a game I'm never gonna play with a quest about yet another game I'm never gonna play.

Very well... back to Steam then.

Whatever prompted you to do something so foolish?! :) Seriously, I don't touch their promos with a ten-foot pole!

although I like the idea behind the new feature Arc Quest rewards I will only ever play sto so the chances of ever scoring very much there is slim, it would have been better if this was tailored to players choices, sure I was able to discard one quest of the three offered yesterday but it was only replaced by yet another non sto related quest, heaven only knows how many more I will need to discard before I actually get one I want and as you can only discard one quest a day it could be weeks or months before I earn any points.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

The quest thing is a nice little bonus. Sure there's inevitably going to be ones for games you don't play, but that's kind of the point...to encourage people to try more games.

I suppose it could be done to install some other games just to get login bonuses for STO... :*

I can understand they give quests from other games to tempt you to try them (wont happen with me though) but it would be better if at least one quest is there at any time that actually applies to the game you play.
I will never install any of the other games as they just don't do anything for me and I wont install what I don't need.
besides which why would I play some other game when I could be playing sto.

Unfortunately Steam hates my computer, or maybe it's the other way around idk, but I crash frequently when I run TRIBBLE from Steam. So a no go from my end.

Hey, I can tell you how to fix that. Wait until the Equinox rolls around on the 21st. At midnight, cut a sprig of mistletoe with a silver blade, and catch it in a silver bowl. Then build a small fire and pace around it sunwise seven times while holding the bowl and chanting the name of Gordon Freeman. When you complete the seventh circle, cast the mistletoe into the fire while invoking the mystical word "Gaben", and the curse will be lifted.

I have never used Arc, I have a 1500h spent on STO on Steam and I still want to work those hours up even more.
But is there any benefits for having STO on Arc? Beside from all the terrible bugs, optimization and design.

very cool to see the comments, thank you all who did. :) i will say, i still don't like arc, i like the idea its on steam, steam rocks. but ya, i still don't like arc, i obviously have figured out how to use it, but still i find it annoying as f lol . also the little side scroll bar on the right, could they at least make it a little fatter ? its annoying to try and point the mouse upon a little side scroll bar, and i know there are ways to not do that depending upon what kind of mouse ya got, but dang it, c'mon lol can't things be designed to TRIBBLE people off a bit less? lol are things these days in this era, being created to TRIBBLE people off ? lol just seems like it is don't it?

sorry for the long wait to reply to the comments, i do stay away from the forums a while cause i just get so dang deppressed bout many issues, like the foundry, arc, etc

i dont think there is a way to switch an account from arc to steam .

aight , stay cool all, thank you all for the replies and comments, and it was great to see a peaceful discussion about this . course , feel free to add more comments if ya like , i won't guarantee when i will be back to the forums, but i willl be back to read the comments and when i do, i'll post a reply. peace all. stay cool and keep speaking your opinions to STO its the only way a game gets better, assuming they listen and care lol peace :)

You posted in a thread that hasn't seen action in over a year. Its considered Necromancy if the thread hasn't been posted in after 30 days.

"necromancy? sorry i had no idea . lol if that is so, why do they allow the topic to remain open? thank you though for letting me know, i will try to remember not to comment on old posts, it will be difficult to remember that since i dont go to forums often, but thank you kindly for letting me know. you rock. my intention was never negative , nor to be a "necromancy" peace.

one other thing, i have not been negative towards anyone , to have a topic remained open, and not closed by STO , on a forum, then to have others conisder posting on an old topic, "necromancy" sure does take away freedom don't it? i thought this era believed in peaceful freedom? perhaps i am wrong. lol imagine being afraid to speak peacefully because others will call you a "necromancy".... hmmm makes me wonder if coming back to speak freely peacefully to these forums is worth it at all ..... i hope peaceful freedom of speech always wins over fear of what others think, because if it does not, that is how a dictatorship is created . i mean only peace i will not return to the forums now, since this has been brought to my attention. i only want to speak in an area that believes in peaceful freedom .

i mean no offense to anyone. i really don't. peace to ya all. may freedom of speech always be indeed free, or things that need changing for the good, will never change. seeing that STO does not close old posts, tells me, they must believe in free peaceful speech. at least i hope so. peace all.
