Hi Science captains,
Would you recommend Cold fusion flash from the Kelvin timeline lockbox OR Endothermic induction field from the winter event store, assuming both are MK14?
I had the impression that total damage is potentially higher for Cold fusion flash, if it hits over the whole time, but does it really happen or is the instant damage dealt by Endothermic induction field preferable?
Thanks for your feedback,
hamtidamti

- Fleet Medical Tricorder
- Triage OR Biofilter sweep (not sure yet)
- Seismic agitation field
- Cold fusion flash and
- Endothermic induction field
on a Herald Science Kit [KPerf] [WpnDmg] [+Pol] with a Wide beam Polaron pistol as my main gun, the Na'kuhl Temporal Operative set and Temoral Operative as my main specialization.
Do you have any further advise for optimizing Kit modules or the Kit frame itself? I was thinking about getting a Spire prototype science kit [KPerf]x2 [PSG] [WpnDmg] and exchanging Triage/Biofilter sweep for a more offensive module. Which must-have modules am I missing for a damage-dealing sci build?
I went with a Delta Kit frame for the Crit D..mostly for my Sompak Pulsewave to be a bit more effective at 18% crit Chance and 126 Crit sev..I would love a KPerfx3 mod but x2 works ..Epic mod gives another Kperf

My science characters typically use the following kit, but there could be variations with one of kits.
- Medical Tricoder
- Cold Fusion Flash
- Endothermic Induction Field
- Sompek Lightning
- Sonic Disruption
https://sto.gamepedia.com/Specialization:_Geologist#Cooldown_variant <- Reduces recharge on all Sci Kit powers With Endothermic.. But...Sci stuff already up Faster than ALL other offensive abilities on Tac or Eng on ground..
Like Jaguar I have a specific loadout for my sci toon..Some consoles change with situation..
- Phasic Shroud (22 Second recharge) Great OH TRIBBLE button
- Vascular Regenerator (10 recharge)[Other Consoles Get swapped out here] 895-1,086+ hit points restored in 10 sec..
- Cold Fusion Flash (15 Second recharge)
- Exothermic Induction Field (15 Second recharge)
- Cryonic Pulse or Hyperonic Radiation (15 Second recharge)
At 15 Seconds..This ability is up pretty quick..

Are you sure the CD geologist is activated by Endothermic induction field? Because this Reddit says it isn't:
https://www.google.de/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/sto/comments/5t0rtk/geologist_doffs_dont_affect_endothermic_induction/
I dont use Endothermic,My mistake (I copy pasted Jaguars load out and modified it..also I should read better..)..I use Exothermic (to me seems to do more damage) which is what the Doff says it works with....But granted..20% for -8 seconds when everything I have is almost every 15 seconds. is just icing on the cake.

By the way, thanks to all your suggestions I now slotted:
- Fleet Medical Tricorder
- Paradox bomb
- Cold fusion flash
- Seismic agitation field and
- Endothermic induction field
on my newly upgraded UR Herald Science Kit [KPerf]x2 [WpnDmg] [+Pol]. Planning to upgrade to epic tomorrow when my latest charge of Omega upgrades is ready. Just in time for the upgrade weekend
A pity the Paradox bomb cannot be upgraded to MK14... I am still considering using Anti-time entanglement field instead for more damage, but I kinda like the pull of the Paradox bomb, packing the mobs in one place before devastating them with the other modules
I run alot in + to Skill: Kit Readiness.I think the LVL 15 Kit RnD trait also added to Kit readiness when slotted.

I take it you have not played the Voth Battlezone yet. It can be very interesting when you are fighting a mob of 12+ Voths by yourself and your two Boffs. About two weeks ago I was alone with my two Boffs and we were fighting 6 Voth Specialists / Mech Repair (they can resurrect themselves), 6 Voth Medics / Special OPs (who can resurrect themselves and others), and two Bio-Engineered Furiadons (big Dinos with beam and mortar attacks... not to be confused with the huge Boss Dinos). That was at one of the Omega Generator Point (the one with the mono-rail) and that excluded the Voth Spec Ops trying to stop and reverse the "car" traveling on the mono-rail.
Not sure what triggered so many Voths to spawn at once since I was the only player in the Outskirts Zone while everyone else were in the City or Park Zones. Could be a bug... it does not happen very often, but I would not classify it as extremely rare either.
Maybe I will test out the Cryonic Pulse again. I recall not liking it much because it had a much shorter range than Sonic Disruption which I tend to use for crowd control and also stopping Voth Medics / Spec Ops from resurrecting (or reviving) other Voths.

You might be thinking about Sonic Pulse. Sonic Disruption has a relatively long range forward firing arc. It can be purchased from the Summer Event Store.
Oh I dont use that..Most players have goood Physical Res damage :P If I recall it also did less damage that the Sonic Pulse, which might be why I am not currently using it. Ill look again tho..

And admittedly: "avoid[ing] ending up in mobs" does not mean it doesn't happen to me... I just finished the Hur'q ground kill accolade replaying Melting Pot a couple of times and the Drantzuli indeed like to throw themselves onto you... but well CFF, SAF and EIF are working nicely nevertheless
Cold fusion flash
Paradox Bomb
Unstable Dampener (?) - double activator - 1st debuffs enemies within a large cone, 2nd boosts energy damage to teammates
Radiation (Neutronic - debuffs nicely at the cost of lower dps)
Anti-Time entanglement field
The exothermic field doesn't seem that dynamic - at least to me. But I'm still learnin'
Indeed, combining Paradox bomb to pull them in with Cold Fusion Flash to root them and then any AoE (DoT) ability to finish off what is still standing is highly appealing. I've experimented with that combo posted above on Feb 10 and so far really like it
Exothermic Induction Field usually works best with any other ability that has a control effect. It does a lot of cold damage, but if enemies are not held in place then they can easily run outside of the AoE. It would work best with Cold Flash Fusion because it roots enemies and with Paradox Bomb because since it draws enemies together.
I mostly use it for the long range knock back ability. It has been awhile since I used Cryonic Pulse; I was testing side by side with Sonic Distortion some time ago. I'll test Cryonic Pulse again next time I go back to the Voth Battlezone which will probably right after the Anniversary Event ends. I have been neglecting Dil collection while farming for Omegas. The Voth Battlezone should help replenish my backlog of unrefined Dil for future Dil collection negligence.
LOL
