Hi,
I'm using a laptop with Intel HD Graphics 5500. I know it's not ideal for performance, but usually everything runs fine with medium detail settings.
Just curious about why a simple mini game like the Omega stabilization becomes choppy whenever there is heavy 3D graphics in the background.
Bye,

Since you are simply parked in space (find a area where Omega Nodes constantly spawn around you), then simply zoom the camera on your ship to block any graphic effects around you while doing the mini-game. You can also try to drop the game into Windowed mode by moving your mouse to the top right corner of the screen; an icon should appear to that switch to Windowed mode if clicked. Or you can simply lower the game resolution.
There could have also been some minor background tweaks to the game's graphic engine and or it could actually be Windows update issue...
I play my secondary STO account on a laptop with an i5-4200u and Radeon HD 8850m. However, I have not really done much on that account recently due to time constraints so I most queue Doff missions. That laptop finally got updated to Windows 10 version 1709, which is basically the Fall Creators Update (released in Nov 2017), right before the Anniversary Event start.
Since I don't really do much with my secondary STO account lately, I simply use the Intel HD 4400 graphics core. After the Windows 10 update, I definitely noticed some graphic issue in the game. Playing at 1080p and running around New Romulus Command for instance, FRAPs would display 30+ FPS, but looking at the gameplay I see some stuttering and minor ghosting or after effects imaging issues. The game feels like it is running at half of what FRAPs states.
I think I will simply go to Intel's website and download the most recent graphics driver for the HD 4400 and see if that fixes the issue.
