Any Good free VPN's??

Hello all..I have been using Cyberghost for a while now, but in December they changed their policies and now they are gonna be charging a bomb for their VPN service which is way outta budget for me to play STO..STO is the only thing on my computer that needs a VPN to play..

SO....

Does anyone know of any free VPN's out there????? Cuase if I invest in a VPN I dont invest in STO and might just give up STO very sadly, which I dont want to do.....

There are plenty of free VPNs out there, but the problem you will face will be the limited band of 500MB per month. That should be enough to connect and play STO, but definitely not enough for updates. TunnelBear is an example.

Windscribe offer the most bandwidth of any free VPN out there that I am aware of... 10GB per month. It is rather limited to only access to 8 countries (47 countries with a subscription). Access speed is reported as "average". Here's a review.

Thanks will check it out..But 500MB is enough to play STO without considering the patches?!

I think so... If max out the limit simply sign up with another free VPN that offers 500MB. :)

There could be other free VPNs that offers 1TB or 2TB for free, but you will need to search for 'em.

Why does STO *need* a VPN for you to use it?

STO is block in certain regions / countries.

For example, if you were to move to Taiwan because it represents a great opportunity to advance your career in your company you would find that you will not be able to play STO there. Not unless you use a VPN.

To the best of my knowledge STO is blocked in the following countries:

    - China
    - Taiwan
    - Russia
    - Hong Kong (an extension of China really)
    - South Korea
    - Macau
    - Vietnam
    - Egypt

You can probably find a deal for an unlimited lifetime VPN service for under $50. The free ones aren't worth the aggravation.

Found a VPN..Hotstop shield..The free version has only one server available in the US to use and the speed is fairly decent to play..

I didn't know that, how bizarre. In that case, a free option probably won't cut it long term. Personally I use ExpressVPN for my VPN needs, which I pay for yearly. I can manage 20mbps in each direction over that. Generally 5ms extra latency vs my unencrypted connection, which is fine for an MMO.

Generally though, you'll find that free services are only good for web/email. They're either uselessly slow, or have use caps.
