If you have access to an aceton assimilator console, drop one in the middle of the station and then start taking out nodes. Those make it a lot easier to take out bees and the Jem Hadar.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
It's not that difficult; shoot the worker bees, then shoot the fighters. Drop a turret or photonic fleet if you have them during the final (third?) worker/fighter spawn.
Focus on the worker bees. Take the fighters out last.
Yep. The rookie mistake is attacking the fighters while a bee is busy repairing. You can endure the fighters, but if you ignore the bee you need to start over. Bees die first!
I usually run my shuttles with a dual beam bank and an omnibeam, plus Emergency Power to Weapons I for a little extra punch. Maybe swap in Beam Fire at Will for the swarmers in the second half.
Focusing fire on the worker bees is the most important factor since they trigger the reset. Watch for the progress bars and always check behind you: they're sneaky little TRIBBLE and it's easy to forget where you are relative to the sensor nodes. It's a shame that hitting them doesn't stop progress like when you're working on something.
I usually have either BFAW or Torp Spread, and I keep a supply of turrets handy as well - antiproton when I can get them, because that seems to knock down the enemy shields fastest. I drop a turret before everything starts, and make sure I target the bees first, replenishing the turret as needed (when a wave ends, you can wait until the cooldown ends before you go to disable the next sensor). Took me a while to work out the rotation that works best for my particular playstyle...

This is true, but assuming a starting character, all the mission reward omni beams come from farther along in the story than Operation Gamma, and there are a bunch of unskippable missions between them. Obviously the first to become available is the Ancient AP... wait, the Geordi mission with the omni-phaser, that got dropped into Klingon War didn't it, hmmm. Let me check the mission journal.
Wiki says that's "Beyond the Nexus," which gives out the Trilithium-enhanced Omni-directional Phaser Array and other bits. It also says it's supposed to come after "Temporal Ambassador" for all factions. I'd assumed it came later in the storyline because of when it was introduced and Geordi talking about the Lukari.
I don't remember it popping for my newest toon that I made in November. I suppose I'll have to go back for it at some point. Thanks for pointing that mission out.
Edit: After checking in-game on my newest Romulan toon, it looks like "Beyond the Nexus" is actually part of the New Frontiers arc, right before "Melting Pot." It has a minimum level of 16, but it's nearly at the end of the storyline as of now.

This didn't used to be an option for the first run through of the mission, but after various revamps & stuff you usually hit level 50 by the first or second mission in the Cardassian Arc. You do have to be in a fleet to use the consoles I mention but there are options for non-fleet members, an energy type matched tac console, neutronium armor console (and possibly you can get the Trellium D console free), VR MK XII is fairly cheap, if your already buying an omni it shouldn't be too hard.

The hardest part for starting toons is the EC needed for the crafted omni. A fairly simple method though is to bank all of your Dill earned until you hit level 50, with mission rewards and Doffing starting at level 11 you can put together enough Dillzen to get a single Master Key, sell it and you have a good budget for equipping a shuttle.
There are also the really cheap Beam Array-S specifically designed for small craft. You'll get one free on whatever small craft you pick for free before doing the Vault episode and you can get another by either buying a C-Store Shuttle or Runabout or buy one for 541EC at ESD/Qo'noS Shipyard/New Romulus Command in your faction's standard flavor. These are about 3/4 the strength of a mission omni-beam that hasn't been upgraded, but they work fine, at least at level 50 or so. Scaling beyond that can be a problem in some missions, but I haven't tried that one in particular.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.
Always replace the free beam array on your shuttle with a store-bought one; it can be upgraded to Mk-12 when you reach Lv 50. Only the store-bought beams, for some reason.
Replaying The Vault can also get Rare-quality Shuttle weapons, beams and dual cannons.

But where is a new player going to come up with a whole 541 EC?

ECs are stupid easy to get in this game, even for newbies. Just sell mission rewards if you don't use them, or sell them to vendors if they're acct-bound. You can whip up that much EC just doing that.
Now a LTS and loving it.

I know, especially by level 45, or whatever the level of Operation Gamma is, you should be getting plenty of common Mk X or XI consoles that you don't want, and every one of those would sell to a vendor for enough to buy small craft omni-beams for both slots if you wanted to go nuts and have a beam boat runabout. You should even have enough by then to at least get your small craft your choice of Mk XII shields, deflectors, impulse engines, warp cores and a console for each slot. They might just be common, but they'll be a great help.

You're right on the omnis. as for the rest....I'd craft it. My main crafter can craft all of the ship stuff a runabout would want. He outfits the Captain's Gigs for all my captains.

Aceton Assimilator and Point Defense Console will make short shrift of the Swarmers as well.

One of the simplest, easiest things you can do to make it better is simply to get in position to disable a node, then face the center where they spawn BEFORE interacting. It gives you extra time to deal with them. And in this mission a little bit of time can mean the difference between success and failure.
I remember the first time i did that one to good lord it was a pain but you have done it now so next time you do it you will have knowledge on your side a weapon far greater then any omni directional phaser array.
one ting is for sure. depending on if I have anything that pisses me off with the bees or with the swarmer determines if the ferengi dies or not... she hasn't lived ver often in my universe
