Greetings all,
My apologies in advance if this has already been raised elsewhere in the forums, but I REALLY REALLY hope that cryptic read this...
I would like to get some opinions from players. I would like to suggest the option of slotting projects for ships previously available to the winter wonderland event every year during the winter wonderland event window. I missed out on the Breen Rezreth Dreadnought Cruiser, and the Chel Boarg and would LOVE to get my hands on those ships, especially the Rezreth. What I would suggest is to simply make the older projects available again alongside the newest one during the current and future winter events, and maybe do the same for summer ships. That way players who missed out on older ships at least have the option of a reclaim, and can grind for these say on an alt, while grinding for the current ship on a main, or whatever way players want to do it, or if at all. Indeed, I have several friends and fleetmates with enough alts to grind twice over if they so chose to!! I find it silly that these ships are unobtainable except through the phoenix system, but sometimes real life can and does get in the way of other things!
Please let me know your thoughts below, or you can pm me ingame

The Phoenix Prize Pack was introduced to at least allow new players (or "old players") who missed the events to have a chance of claiming them even though it is on a per character basis. It is also provided a good mechanism to drain excess refined dilitihium from the economy to lower the Dil to Zen exchange rate.
That's great for some players, but I actually kinda like a high exchange rate because that means I could get more refined Dil for my buck. Everyone who wants a 500:1 Dil/Zen exchange rate raise you hand and shout out!!! (Raise my own hand)

This. Cryptic wants you to join the event when the event is happening.
If they allowed slotting multiple event ships, some people would skip 2017 figuring they'd just race twice a day in 2018. Then participation drops in 2017. For F2P games time logged in (for the player base as a whole) translates into sales, and time missed is lost revenue. Less money means they can't create as much new content, which then drops revenue even more, which continues the DOOM spiral downward.
So people not doing ice races this year could literally shut down STO!

The decision of switching over to drops that are specific for the current year so that people don't hoard the tokens on an alt and get it the first day of the event, not bothering to spend time in the wonderland.

"We want to maintain the exclusivity and collectability of the event ships from the Summer Event each year, and in order to do that we will be retiring the existing Risian Lohlunat Pearls."
I'm just providing my own feedback on that aspect of it. I understand them wanting us to play during the event each year to get that year's ship, it makes business sense.
I also love the Flying High to get the Summer ship. Guess I'm easy to please and actually have fun during these Event ship 'grinds'. They're not such a grind to me. I'm looking forward to the Anniversary Event already.
The Phoenix Box would be an acceptable way to get them if not for the last part.
Also, if they have to keep everything stuffed inside the phoenix box, can they at least update it for once? I don't even think they've added any ships since it first came out, and that was quite a while ago.
It IS updated nearly everytime it returns.
this way with a higher chance than say 5% on Ultra Rare or 1% on epic, it goes up 10% on both ends with a gauranteed token of either one (per account character) that is bound and can not be converted into a lower form past the grade it is at to avoid getting 2 UR for example. this way you can buy the ship and once the token is earned and locked in the default drop rates apply back at 5% and 1%.
also the ship gotten can't be traded and once it is used on one character it automatically account unlocks if it wasn't already done so.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Otherwise, sniff sniff, why should the mere unwashed peasants be able to partake in such exclusivity. As that well known Forum Ferengi has pointed out, we just love to revel in the rarity and exclusivity of our digital possessions (of the day). Yeah, right. A crock of bs if I ever heard it.
It is just like removing the Reputation Turn-in of Marks or Elite Marks for Dilitium from enjoying the effect of Bonus Dilitium Weekends. As was stated by the EP, this way the Turn-ins are 'Special' all year long.
I get chills up and down my spine with how 'special' I feel.

Especially considering the STO we have today tends to attract impatient players for whom waiting 25 days for the ship is already too much. If they don't want the ship Now, being able to get it next year or not isn't going to make one lick of difference to them.
The kind of players who are affected by the exclusivity shtick, won't start playing the game at all now that they've already missed a lot of stuff. The game isn't really ship-collector friendly in the first place, what with the faction restrictions it's impossible to collect all ships at once.

Just my opinion, but since getting the Nandi from a Phoenix box, I hate it. It's obvious whomever designed it flipped a existing skin, made a few cosmetic changes and went, ta-da, Ferengi T6. It looks like it's flying backwards.
The only effect of the exclusivity really is then, that new players are excluded.
Really effective incentive there, Cryptic.
The idea of exclusivity has always been about being there at the time of the event, though. If you are around to slot the project, then you are at least there for that much of it. But honestly, how long can anyone realistically kick that can down the road before they actually have to either finish the project or cancel it entirely?
