Why do we have street lighting unless there is a day/night cycle on the map?
I was wondering this too. I thought day/night cycles were pretty much abandoned...
Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

I can't help but see this as a 'F' you guys for asking about the loss of Night time during the summer event. Not only won't we fix it, but here's something that's only worth having if we did.
Pretty much agree. What a waste!!!! There is no day/night cycle anymore!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Injury, meet insult.
They aren't going to "fix" it because it isn't broken. The new lighting is static by design. There's no fixing of something that they chose to do.
That being said, this is a pretty silly unlock for a map where it is perpetually daytime.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.
Straight from the blog: "The island gets very dark at night."
And I guess we'll never fragging know if it gets dark at night or not. Not impressed, especially if it ends up being maybe one to five lamps.
@ambassadorkael#6946 Just so you know, the "Discuss this on the forums" link leads back to the news article, not to here. Someone should probably fix that.

I don't care what Cryptic's design is. We used to have it, thus for us no matter the cause- it's broken. End of debate.

No, it isn't. When you choose to remove something, that's not breaking it. I'm not going to say something inane to end my post, I'll let logic speak for itself.

Guess they want as much light at the colony so that you can see it from orbit to allow the Tzenkhti to know this is where we are concentrated so bomb this location?!
I have to agree, street lights without day/night cycle are somewhat silly. If I just had enough faith in cryptic left to see this as a signal that they are working on it... but they explained it in detail why they can't do it already some time ago.
Well.. none of the purely cosmetic projects are worth the investement, whether it's a glass floor, plants, a bar or lighting poles. I've never put a single dilithium crystal into any of these projects, and I never will.
This type of irresponsible &/or negligent thinking by Cryptic is what partially drags this game down.
A blatant time & resource sink for a feature that makes no difference with the current broken day/night cycle.
It would've been awesome for Cryptic to respond with this question with some sort of, "& to make use of this feature we're bringing back the long awaited day/night cycle," it would've been at least.
I'm sure somewhere Cryptic is thinking up some method of utilizing some promotional format with gambling stating, "if (10), some arbitrary number, players of the same fleet manage to open this "golden ticket" from this particular lock box then your colony will have the day/light cycle feature," I wouldn't put it pass them.
Do they come with bulbs or do we have to buy those separately?
Q: How many Federation Engineers does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Just one, but he's going to tell you he can't do it and then he's going to tell you it involves the plasma relays and then he's going to say it will take him six hours.
Q: How many Federation Captains does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Also just one, but try not to think too much about the fact he somehow tore his shirt doing it.
Q: How many Ferengi does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: The Eighty-Ninth Rule of Acquisition states that the wise trader knows that there is beauty in darkness, especially when reselling goods procured at a scratch-and-dent sale, and will adjust the lighting in the room accordingly before the buyer's arrival.
Q: How many Romulans does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: The Tal Shiar are very curious about your sudden interest in lightbulbs, citizen.
Q: How many Klingons does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Klingons cannot change a lightbulb during the first act without being knocked across the room and stunned, which demonstrates for the audience the inherent perils involved in lightbulb-changing and thus sets the stage for rising tension in the second act and the dramatic resolution of the climactic lightbulb change in act three, which will probably involve several Klingons yelling at the lightbulb and a regular castmember demonstrating that (s)he, too, can appreciate the culture of honor represented by Klingon lightbulb-changing, however strange it may first appear.
Q: How many Borg does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: All of them.
Q: How many Cardassians does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: I am disappointed by your question, Doctor! And here I thought we were making some progress! Perhaps someone might wonder why the lightbulb needs changing, hm? Or whether it needs changing, or whether there's even a lightbulb at all, hm? Perhaps things aren't quite what they appear to be, or perhaps there's more that can be seen in the dark than in the light, perhaps? Ah, well--I have no idea. Perhaps if there's a lightbulb to be changed, you should talk to that Chief O'Brien; I am merely a humble tailor and I'm sure this fascinating conversation about interior lighting is far beyond my meager capacity to understand. But you should stop in later--I have just had a shipment of the finest Denubian cravats arrive in my shop and I think a red one--or possibly the blue--would go quite well with your eyes. You might even attract the attention of that Lieutenant Commander Dax I saw you dining with on the promenade yesterday.

> I came here to ask the same question. Will the night time map become another Fleet unlock?
Maybe part of a lockbox only promo....for that sense of pride and accomplishment?

Would it be worthwhile to file a bug report? Our fleet's colony is sunny 24/7. I've checked and can provide screenshots.
