I have been back in the game for about three weeks after taking 2 years away or so

I have seen the arena queue pop exactly one time, and it was me and one other guy vs a fleetmade team

PvP is gone people. As much as I hate to see that, it is.

I don't know if the devs could make things specific to one instance, but if they could, they could create instance 99, and then everyone there would be flagged for PVP. you could have raids just like in WoW, and all of it. then the PVEers can have thiers and the PVPers have thiers

I like this idea. The problem comes in when you can recognize your friends/fleet and ship names. It will invariably become a standard PVP.
Disable all names, ship names, and fleet. Title people either Red Player or Blue Player.

You're assuming that they're using that language to code it, that it's formatted that way, and that they have the extra man-hours to dig up every reference line that applies to it, links to it...and it's still there, gobbling up memory on the host server.

You had me going up until this. Up until this weak, "you don't know that it's formatted this way" thing and more talk of "man-hours".

how hard would it be to make a flag where you are a contestant or not? that way if I'm on ESD and i don't want to TRIBBLE with PVP cause I'm doffing, RND whatever, then I'm immune otherwise fair game. I think WOW does that for raids. and yes maybe 15 -20 player raids could be done, especially fo they can make it on select instances like Nixie said

I don't think PvP is fixable at this point. You would have to fix PvE first. The entire combat mechanic is about taking on damage sponges 5 to 20 times larger then you. Even if you put some dmg to acc on the >100k build, it becomes an exercise of who instapopped who first. There is no stratagy when combat is <5 seconds. The big change to S4: Crossfire was to drop health and up dps to make combat faster in missions.

Even if you rebalance for PvP combat they would then have to rebalance all mobs and missions in the game. I cannot see them investing in that much time.

No one said the systems had to be =

Cryptic had a dev... and perhaps he is still around that believes players are not smart enough to accept that systems are different in different parts of the game. They caved on that a little bit with raider flanking and a few other things reducing their effect vs players. With that and what other devs have stated they have the tech to adjust and even disable specific gear/traits and pretty much anything they want on specific maps. A good example of this in action is the shuttle maps.

Developers in other games... create pvp game types that have different setups for pvp.

The solution to fix pvp is very doable as Cryptic has ALL the systems in place to create a "vanilla" style pvp game. They could easily re vamp their PvP maps. (their current code is stupid broken as its been so long since they did anything with it... its clear they don't know how it works, they can't even fix the pvp score board its so baddly borked)

Adding a PvP game mode... where players use a selection of PvP ships they commission in the same manner as we do with shuttles is the solution. It is still likely more work then Cryptic is willing to do... but the systems are ALL in place. They simply need to add 5-6 PvP ship inv slots... sell PvP map ships for low cost. And in the same way we slot shuttle gear that have -s indicators... we buy and slot PvP gear that has -p indicators. The ships should have hull and shield numbers close to what STO had at launch... weapons should be mark x-xii at the most and be non upgradable... and most important Cryptic needs to RESIST the urge to monetize the heck out of the game mode. No upgrades / no usage of ship traits making 900 lobi ship traits required to play at anything but scrub level.

Cryptic also has the ability to do vanity shields engines ect ect.... and Vanity stuff aimed at a Vanilla PvP mode would make them money. I know they don't see it... but there really aren't a ton of great PvP games out there, Eve being the only other real space pvp. ED hardly counts and SC will never happen. The core of this game however would make perhaps one of the most entertaining E-Sports style games around. Stripped to its core matches would be quick, yet strategic... and not revolve around 101 p2w traits consoles and bits of gear. When this game launched the PvP was fun... because you jump in at any level but even at end game, you could hit level cap... load up a ship with mk x gear and be ready to PvP in high end matches almost instantly. For a new player or a returning player who has been away for a few years... this game now involves months of grinding gear/rep/ship traits/doffs/rep gear/lobi gear to even think about being able to compete.

A E-sport mode launch + just a little bit of marketing would really drive up the numbers of players in this game.
