Anyone get around the wine bugs?

I trying to play this on wine, and while it runs I see some bad graphical glitches. Some polygons go missing or just look strange.

That includes a lot of character details such as hair. Anyone know of some setting to improve this? I am trying wine 2.20, the 'staging' repo.

This is because of a yet unimplemented multisampling technique called AlphaToCoverage. Several games are affected by this. A bug for the first needed opcode was filed in June 2016 and implemented last month in Wine 2.20. Unfortunately there's one or two more opcodes needed and I filed a bug report about it back in August. With some luck a dev will eventually fix it but it may take a while. If people report more affected games it will likely be fixed sooner rather than later.

If you play it on wine, does that mean somebody managed to make this run on wine for a mac? If you don't know, could you point me to the right direction? Thanks in advance!

I use Wine on Linux so unfortunately I can't tell you the current status of running STO on a Mac.

I'm running the game on a Mac via PlayonMac. The graphics leave a lot to be desired. Space scenarios are definitely playable, but the ground scenes result in an almost skeletal appearance and I generally can't see my toon. Its playable for me although a lot of folks would wonder why I bother.
The issue appears to be that the Wine folks still have some work to do to get DX11 to work properly on Mac. Think it has something to do with how MacOS accesses the resources on the graphics card.
Go to the PlayonMac site and check the Application Test part of the forum. There is a chain there on Star Trek Online. It covers both Mac and Linux.

I can confirm that the patch from Wine bug 43131 solves the texture problems for me. I tested it on wine-vanilla 2.21.
