Does PWE/Cryptic now strike Youtube channels? Edit: Channel restored

Hello, i have been away from the game for a while now, so i am not up to speed. But today i woke up to an email from Youtube that i got a strike to my channel MyBalkanGaming because it violates Youtube guidelines. The video was from 2014, named Star Trek Online: Risa Powerboard Race 2014 So i was wondering did PWE/Cryptic policy of uploading STO videos to Youtube freely changed? Not blaming Cryptic, this is probably just Youtube, but want to make sure.

Edit: Just got another strike in matter of hours for 2 old STO video, Star Trek Online: Dromias PVP and Star Trek Online Luxury Cruiser Elite STF

    Wasn't there recently a report of some service where content was accidentally being removed/blocked despite there being no content policy breaches? But was it youtube?

    It seems unlikely that Cryptic would do this, this stuff is bascially free advertisement for their game. So either an accident, or a 3rd party is involved?

    Hope this gets cleared up quickly, I know this can be very frightening and I believe your options to "fight back" are very limited as youtuber.

    I am really baffld by this, its just a commentary over a gameplay video. No music or anything that would brake Youtube guidelines as they say. I know that Cryptic allowed in the past to post the gameplay videos on Youtube, but i was away from the game for a year or so so want to make sure nothing has changed in that regard.

    Does anyone maybe have a link where Cryptic says we can post videos freely? I cant find it right now

    Well it's a good thing that I didn't end up doing the STO videos I was pondering over at some point.

    Maybe its just Youtube and not Cryptic. But i am not sure. Its a very broad definition that it brakes Youtube guidelines and that is it. It does not say anything more.

    Didn't Youtube say they started using an "AI" to flag videos?
    However, the "AI" utterly sucks at his job (officially, it's "learning from its mistakes and WAI") and you actually need to tell Youtube it did a bad job to have Youtube slap the AI's metaphorical wrist and hope they'll unblock the videos.

    I remember your channel and enjoyed watching your videos. If Google/Youtube is going to such new lows of careless SJW/partisan draconian type of censorship, well not much of a surprise, it is a dark time we're living in that's getting more nonsensical by the minute. FWIW I've got a tiny handful of Overwatch videos on youtube, wonder if I too should be worried.

    You should be blaming the ad industry, it was them pulling away the ads thinking that most of the content on youtube is "too shocking".

    We've seen in the past how petty disgruntled players can be. Remember the mass DDOS attack from a Neverwinter player that kept knocking the game off-line. It wouldn't matter that you haven't been playing, it's the fact it's there and an easy target to hit.

    Thanks man! I just rewatched all the videos that were striked as i still have them stored on my computer. I now suspect why they have given me strikes on them. In them i was talking about new "weapons", "cannons", " turrets", "torpedos" etc. That is possibly why my videos were flagged. So fellow Youtubers beware what you say on Youtube. Maybe even saying new polaron canons can cost you a strike. :o

    I'd definitely try to contact both @ambassadorkael#6946 as community manager and whoever is a contact on youtube's end. (Of course, it happening on the week-end is basically the worst case scenario here.)

    It's a good example on why we shouldn't ask for more "censorship" just because otherwise an unpopular (or even disgusting) opinion might get voiced otherwise or some copyright might potentially perhaps been violated- you're also hurting completely innocent stuff for no reason at all. Better let everyone work to uphold freedom of speech and counter bad speech with good speech.

    I have contacted ambassadorkael and he asured me that the strikes are not from PWE/Cryprtic. I am now waiting to hear back from Youtube.

    I am another that enjoyed your channel, I subscribed to it and use to watch it all the time.

    I hope they can get this fixed, there was absolutely nothing in any of your content that was even close to a violation.

    I enjoyed your channel and none of your video's should of been removed from what I've read Youtube's automatic strike bot has been very aggressive lately you will need to flag your channel for review and wait for an actual person to check your channel.

    Youtube really needs to get itself sorted out. I can understand them not wanting people to upload full episodes/movies/soundtracks/etc, but their method of content control is really over the top and incredibly easy to exploit and misuse.

    The Foundry Roundtable hasn't had any strikes lately and I haven't had any issues with my STO solo videos. A question I'd ask is "was there music?" I think that might be what a bot scanning gameplay might be focused on.

    Please check back if you have any news. it would be terrible to lose someone like yourself who provides a point of view to star trek online related content.

    Were you given any information as to the nature of the "violation?"

    This is almost certainly a false positive. Recently YouTube has started cracking down on unsavory content, but they identify that content using new and imperfect algorithms. The whole creator community is in turmoil.

    You can probably appeal and have your channel reinstated. You may find this subreddit a good place to learn more.

    I got a strike on an STO play-thru a while back. It came from CBS and was "manually detected". I can't remember what was in it, but I think it might've been some background Trek music I used. Then again, I use Trek music on other videos and they aren't flagged.

    Unsavory content is too subjective of a term and can be heavily abused by those who determine what unsavory content is. A new and imperfect algorithm is an easy excuse to make for someone intentionally silencing some creator.
