Wouldn't that cause dilithium to be even a bit more expensive than it already is when Phoenix Prize Packs aren't around? I'm pretty sure that's a side-effect you DO NOT want.
After all, a simpler way to transfer dil means it's easier for a character to get more, thus making the player a bit less careful with it if they see a large amount, as opposed to a smaller amount for one character, and thus throwing even more on the market.
If they do that, might as well make it an account-wide currency like Zen. Doubt it would happen though unless it is incredibly easy for them to do, otherwise why put the time into something we can kind of do anyway?
Trouble is that extra security will be needed to protect your account bank incase an intruder gets into it and just sells your refined dilithium off. However there is a history of accounts and fleet accounts being emptied and Cryptic washing their hands of any such dealings.
Without some good enough security, it doesn't make that much difference from keeping it on your characters or in the account, either way it's going to be used.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
The problem with the transfer system is it only holds 5 offers, so when you move on to transferring 8000 dil from the 6th toon you have to claim all offers back and combine them to put them back up again before moving on to more toons.

Yeah, oh so horrible problem you have to click one extra button. That's so much harder than having all those toons travel to a bank console.
Actually that is more than just one button, 5 clicks for every offer taken down per 5 toons. When you have more than 20+ toons it can take up quite a bit of time to do.

This one is simple to solve.
At 25 dil per zen, this means to transfer 8K dilithium is 320 zen. Then all you have to do is cancel offer each time and resubmit on each character. You don't even have to withdraw it from the DilEx.

You can do this all the way up to the maximum purchase of 5000 zen. This makes it 1 offer.

naww to easy they would rather a code monkey go into the Dilithium programming and bork it up so they have a REAL reason to complain when all thier dilithium goes into the ether
Having dilithium in the account bank would be a nice feature and make things easier to transfer between characters much like energy credits are done. You don't need extra security on the account bank but more on the account itself when one logs in wouldn't hurt over all. (One time key generators like other MMOs have?)
My guess is some people might oppose this if there's some way to post dilithium on the exchange at a cheap rate that gets others to buy up what your selling because of a type-o on your part. That would be why I see people object to this. It would remove their chance at cheap dilithium at your expense much like posting a T6 ship on the exchange for 1,000,000 credits gets them a cheaper ship instead of the 100,000,000 you intended to charge.
Over all this feature would improve quality of life and security for your dilithium from accidents on the exchange. Also it's a more direct implementation of the intended feature rather than using a system that wasn't designed for this sort of thing like the exchange being used for the transfer. (Square peg in round hole so to speak)

None of this really makes sense, I think you've overthought yourself down a rabbit hole to nowhere.
Yea I don't think they'd want you to move unrefined DIL around - even if you have one character with a lot of it. It's why you need to watch how much unrefined DIL you've built up if you only play one character... ...then maybe consider switching and playing a different one or two more often while you refine down their limit.
Using the Dil-Ex is way, way, way more efficient than using Account Bank. The only way it would be easier is if Dil was already shared universally amongst toons.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
The Idea has merit and would be preferable for me than having to go through all my ALts to figure out just how much refined Dil I have to convert to Zen. It would also make it easier for me to upgrade some of my lesser played Alts gear, which would then give me a reason to play them more often, since the gear would be up to date and ready for the rewarding end-game content.

Thats not the way the dili Exchange works - if u sell zen for 25 u still get the highest offer to buy zen - normaly around 280 atm.
nice u wasted so much time in your sig - i do not see it anyway
It's a nice idea OP but as you have to either be at a social zone or on the bridge of a ship in Space (Call Freighter no longer allows account bank access) using the Dilex for me personally is less time consuming than potentially map moving 25 characters to access the account bank.
What i wouldn't give though for a bank to be available in the Dyson Battlezone Command Centre.

Yes, the Developers are too busy coming up with a convoluted 'tensies' system to donate Provisions to the Colony Holding Projects and Coffers to simplify a convoluted method to transfer refined Dilitium. Yes indeed.

Though the exchange can be easier sometimes since you can use it anywhere and without a map transfer.

That would never happen. Free T6 Connies would happen before that would happen.
