Odd, I read patch notes last night. The time does seem to be mostly for backend maintenance, as noted, but they seemed to plan on fixing a few annoying things along the way.
Is this downtime and the new Specialisation making anyone else think they should've started out by multiplying their repair estimates by a factor of four?
("All Cryptic games and servers will go down at 0500 Tuesday and be down until 0900 Wednesday for Scheduled Maintenance")
That way, even if there's still an hour's delay from the intended finish time of 1200 Tuesday, or two hours, or whatever, as long as things are up and running before 0900 Wednesday, they'll look like Miracle Workers.

Where do I apply for a job there? Last night myself and another network techician installed 2 new servers with a 12TB data migration (local cable call center), upgraded 74 of the 400 computers to windows 10 and call center software. installed and configured 5 switches, and tested in 8hrs. Sounds like they could use these old servers to upgrade with over there lol. I have reasonable rates...
Oh well, I have seen worse down times back in the CoV/CoH days.

Bipedal mammal and senior Foundry author.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
With being an MMO veteran I have grown use to long and extended maintenances. I think the longest I've seen for a maintenance for any MMO I've played was when they took down SWG for almost a day if not longer to fix the ingame chat (not voice chat) after all but local was down for the better part of a week.
Yep I knew it they fubarred the game again didn't they last time it was 4 days come on cryptic i am having star trek withdrawls if I have to wait 4 days I may become unhinged please hurry.

Can't tell if you're wanting to apply or if you're trying to sell them something..
In any event, if you want to apply for a job at PWE, there is a link at the bottom of the page that will take you to their page, it says Career. If you want to apply at Cryptic, the link is https://crypticstudios.com/careers.
Unfortunate, I can't help you out with any sales leads.

Oh, that brings back memories. I didn't have too many issues with the "Victory" server but there was one that was always down. I want to say it was the "Freedom" server but am not 100% sure.
You know, some online game developers would actually compensate their customers for major downtime like this, but somehow I doubt that will be the case here. =/
IMHO they should give us 8k dilithium to claim per character. :P

Yea Freedom was down a lot. I played on Champion server but when I filled all my slots up (wasn't it like 18 per server?) with 50s I moved my least used toons to Freedom. Freedom was usually the last one to come up every Thursday and usually the first one to drop on a busy weekend. Usually if you saw Freedom drop you knew the lag was coming.
I will say, CoV/CoH had a ton of servers and were really stable for the 10yrs or so I played. I do miss that game... I dust off my little Recluse and Statesman pieces on my shelf I got in the box set once in a while.
Yesterday couldn't log in at all. Even ARC site wasn't responding. Today I came back from work and guess what? Maintenance. And just an hour longer. And another hour and now addittional 90 minutes. Guess I'll call it a day.
Day already done for me... I go to work in 2hrs (4pm here) and I got home from work at 8am CST.. been waiting all day... I guess we should be glad it's just one hosted server for STO and not like 10..
To be fair, I said 8k dilithium per character, because that is the daily refinement cap and measurable as an actual "loss" for a lot of players not being able to play all day. :P

I tweet NCSoft from time to time and tell them I will never forgive them for pulling the plug on Coh/CoV. Like they care.

You are personally being nerfed. No one else. Just you.
So is his turn?, glad it wasn't me!

This was mentioned in the livestream too, only console has patch notes.
We come in peace, SHOOT TO KILL!
They've extended it for 2 extra hours now. I weep for the level of nerfing that they're doing to him.

If you are into reading why there is downtime, perhaps reading the initial post as to why there is downtime would help.
