I personally would have rather seen this new universal console slot as a slot that could only have universal consoles slotted into it, with it maybe allowing any universal console be slotted into it regardless of the normal restrictions. I like the idea of the console slot in the form that the engineers of the ships took extra pains developing it in the shipyard to expand the versatility an space for additional components in the ship to be used. Though I also quite like the idea of the Innovation mechanic of the ship it feels similar to the Inspiration system of the command cruisers, but different enough in how it functions to feel less of a copy/paste an how it feels almost like a combo system (honestly the idea of a combo system would be fun on a ship giving you different secondary effects to your abilities you use on what ability is used before them.)
We have escorts with a special exclusive weapon slot, sci ships with secondary deflectors, so thats both Tac & Sci ships getting something exclusive. Even if this is a "12th console" its just balancing that for Engineering. No reason to be worried about "T6U" or the ridiculous and repeatedly denied/debunked T7 doomsayers.
Yes. As I said earlier, I don't see T6-U happen any time soon (if ever). This will likely be an exclusive perk for the new Engineering ships, to offset the extra things Tact and Sci got.
They may, at some point, decide to allow T6-U for other Engineering ships too, but certainly not soon, as the current Miracle Worker ships would kinda lose their exclusivity.
Why do you say that?
Aren't they just about done releasing t6 updates for t5 ships?
Next will have to be t6u versions of all the t6 ships.
I dunno; I just don't see a general T6-U happen any time soon, is all. Heck, still waiting for a T6 Mobius. If they start coming with general T6-U, however, two things will happen (the first of which is guaranteed): I will never ever take any word Bort says, on needing to reign in the power creep, serious, ever again (ahem, as if I did already); and ppl will likely get upset en masse: they finally accepted T6 as a reality, but not sure they'd be willing to go thru that cycle again.

I don't think this will be proliferated to even other Cruisers, really. These are special release ships, and they're doing everything that they can to sweeten the pot so that people will buy them, that is all, at least for now. With Cruiser Commands, they pushed them out to all Cruisers immediately, With Raider Flanking, Secondary Deflectors and Experimental Weapons, they made their intention to proliferate these advances to other ships of that type as soon as they got everything worked out very clear the moment that they announced them. There's none of that in this announcement, so I don't think that it will be happening for other Cruisers anytime soon, if ever. This will be part of the Miracle Worker ship gimmick, and probably only the ones with Commander Miracle Worker seats and the other special gimmicks these ships have.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

You shouldn't take what they say seriously to begin with its a big mistake to do.
I think it's gonna be rereleases of the old ships, but with different spec seating, and maybe some perk like the extra console.
They will all be 'side grades' but the new stuff will be a little better.
Anyway, you know what happens in about a year? People finish their 5 tier colony fleet holdings.
You know what the unlock is for t5? They haven't said yet. Probably because they don't want to spoil the 'reveal' for fleet versions of the above ships!
They kinda laready did that with the Sovereign from the start. Yes its a promo, but it was released in both intel and command flavor.
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross. But it's not for the timid." - Q
In my opinion the strongest evidence that there is a new and better tier of ships coming out on the horizon is their refusal to disclose the t5 rewards for the expensive and time consuming new fleet holding.
It has to be something worth the very substantial grind, but they don't want to compromise their eventual "reveal" of the new ship tier.
It's the theory that makes the most sense to me.
I think someone found a blog on that ship, but said blog was then rapidly removed.
Why, whatever that ship will be, for a year's worth of grind, it better be real good.
Pretty sure T6U/T7 is "never" happening.
It would completely defeated the purpose of the specialization system.
Most likely the extra console slot is just a gimmick, like the Secondary Deflector or and the Heavy/Experimental Weapons slot.
Big ships can mount more consoles, not really a stretch there. And you know 99% of the people will just stick a +weapon damage console (or maybe a +turn console) there so no biggie really. And compared to the Secondary Deflector / Experimental Weapon it's probably the weakest boost of the 3 things.
I would spend a lot of resources for a per character +1 universal console slot for all the ships on that character. Maybe a T5 colony purchase option? (something crazy like 5 mil fleet cred). I'd rather spend an exorbitant amount of fleet cred and stay away from strait up zen or dil so it doesn't seem like pay to win. Extra console slots are something I really want.
I'd assume they will have 10 base with +1. So they are a free fleet ship. Then they also don't need to release a fleet version. Plus the other reason to allow an extra fleet slot for this type of ship is the design around tanking returning. It's too allow more versatility with the tank including increased tanking abilities. It also means a free slot for your free console with the ship allowing the same. Engineering extra slot tanking... Seems pretty simple. Free Fleet ship.
Everything in this set is for the tanking release. BFAW is for tanking and holding taunt. Everything else is for the ultimate use of tanks and accomplishing their jobs.
I assume the release of tac and sci ship is for ships of those types to also specialize in tanking if desired in the same manner. But with different orientations. Tac probably for speed and defense sci probably for whatever sci can do in a tank setup. Maybe we will have the first engineer/sci orientation instead of the sci/engineer.
Doubtful. T5U was meant to ease the way for T6 and they've already said 'No T7'. I think it's simply going to be their gimmick like Intel ships get 'Active Sensors', Dreadnoughts get a spinal lance, etc...
I don't think it is doubtful. it seems like the next step towards t7, most t6 ships are not far from 15 consoles which could be the maximum so there is potential to get as far as t7 fleet ships to fill that in and besides that zen store ships are usually good sellers coonsidering how many they keep dropping every month or every other month.
I am strictly keeping to a point here and not the potential doom about but this game has a few years left on the contract with cbs. That is a lot of time to fill in and a lot of potential for the customers and those working for cryptic to get paid as well.
They may have said no to t7 in the past, but the same was stated of a t5/t6 connie. or a ship i've been lobbying to get in this game for years, a t6 miranda class ship. There is also the crossover with paramount for the Kelvin timeline ships, weapons and the bridge officer. Times do change and getting t6u and then t7 is possible, cryptic have made long standing problems turn into dreams for a lot of people on this game.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
The Miracle Worker Mega Bundle ships are getting an extra console slot and more power according to the announcement posted on the site. It looks like T6 cruisers could possible get this feature with an upgrade similar to what happened to the T5 ships. Are T6U ships coming?
For as long as new ships sell well I don’t think we get any Tier 6U.
An additional console slot or whatever the reason of your question here is would not be enough to classify a new (U) Tier.
If you think back, T5 U got up to 5 additional trait slots on top of four passive mastery levels besides just a new console slot. Nothing of the sort happens here.
From the looks of it the new miracle worker gimmick powers are quiet random and a new console slot is just squeezed in to make them look better.
I’m sure we see more miracle worker ships in the future but since cryptic has easy control over every individual console/boff layout I’d be really surprised if we look at new PvE Scimitar crushers or anything here.
At least two of the traits of those ships seem interesting. PvE tanks might toy with them a bit, so will tacs. In the end, it is nothing special or surprising for a new season.

I'm not going to pay for the same ship, for the 3rd time. No thanks... It took long enough to get my Galaxy to Fleet T6 Level and its still not as a good as some other pay2win ships in this game.

An extra console seems more powerful than what "gimmics" other Full Spec ships get in addition to their unique full spec ability (like Intel Gather Mechanic, or Pilot maneuvers)
- Intel gets improved passive stealth and better cloaking device than usual for a ship of its type
- Command gets hangar bays
- Pilot gets superior turn rate and superior weapon loadout for a ship of its class
- Temporal gets... Do they get anything beind their spec ability?
Maybe the Miracle Wokrer full specl ability is not so great to justify it?
But I smell power creep.

5 million fleet credits costs less than 500m EC to obtain, that's not an "exorbitant amount" at all.
Just as they "balanced" the escorts by giving them all an extra experimental weapons slot, I could see these 12th console slots making their way to all of the cruisers. I just wish these new Fed ships weren't so absolutely horrendous! Please tell me that these are just Halloween ugly skins...

Peeps got over the look of Intel ships in 2014 too. Otherwise just buy the ships for the traits. Two of them read pretty good.

Specialization was supposed to make up for not needing to create T7s.

The problem is that specialisation like the reputations are so numerous that any new ones don't add anything to the game anymore because they are so numerous it doesn't really add anything truly unique to the game. i think a revolution in development is needed before long or stagnation will become a problem and the one thing Cryptic isn't known for is stagnating for very long.
