The main reason they do not listen to feedback, isn't bad grammar. The main problem is, most feedback isn't constructive. It's starts off as feedback and then generally turns in to a rant, or "You should've done it this way."

    Simple Feedback Rules.

    1) Keep feedback as short and concise as possible.
    2) Make a suggestion or two about fixing it.
    3) Do not rant.
    4) Do not tell them how they should do it.
    5) Do not argue, or forum pvp.(hardest one)
    6) If it's a to long, didn't read post. They didn't read it.

    And the most important rules...

    7) DON'T PANIC!!
    8) Always bring a towel.

So this morning has finally broken my patience with this UI. I've persevered with it, battled and fought with it and now i'm quitting it.

I'm tired of long wait times to get things to start outside of a Red Alert.
Constantly having matches cancelled due to Player declines and the game forgetting I already hit accept and asking me again and again and not being able to leave match when caught in this loop without logging toon out.
Hitting accept and then being dropped from the queue.

I know this post is a complete waste of time because if the Management running this company cared about the quality of the product they release, then we wouldn't have had this travesty of a "improvement" forced upon us.

Many queues I used to run no longer fill so content in a way has been locked out to me.

Looks like its Dil mining, Dyson Battlezone, New Romulus and Romulan Patrols to pick up my daily dil.

I think some shore leave is in order so i may take a few days and soak up the sun on Risa until the new season drops next week.
Welcome to the Norm for STO.

Yea I've often wondered WHY if the Queue says there is 1 or possibly 3 players currently in the Queue why when I am in a team with one other player, why I as the team lead join a queue does it then sometimes often say there is still only 0 or 1 other player in that queue? Given there should be at least 2 people in a queue given that's how many are in my party.

You often see Queue matched or other odd messages as it seems team or queue group don't seem to have been implemented properly. In Neverwinter being in a team allows you to complete a shared mission but has nothing to do with Dungeons or what we call STF Queue's. They should allow you to join Queue groups separately from Team's one for missions the other for Queue's.

Still I think the larger issue is if people are forming teams based on who's in the current queue; then trying to match remaining players quickly and efficiently to fill it, or deciding when it should spawn an ALT instance to fill. Sadly it only shows us one instance of each queue it's trying to fill not the different pairings that are available and doesn't seem to quickly fill them.

The old UI seemed to use to be far more efficient at filling them and if it said 2 players in queue or 4 if you added just yourself to the queue it would then accurately increase to 3 or 5 and start more promptly.

The impression I get is that even with 'popular' queues there's simply too few playing for them to insta-ping. If it's popular you can expect to wait a couple of minutes, and if it's dead ... well quite simply forget about it.

Honestly these days I basically login, do trade\admiralty\convert dil and change toons.

    It's dead Jim :'(

After the PvE disaster of S13 and the upcomming fleet holding disaster of S14 I have trouble to even open news-blogs about new lock box stuff. No way and now no means to use it...

They kill off their title by all means they can.

For the same reason it often says there are 0 people in the queue even when you're in it yourself...it's broken to the core and doesn't work.

Usually it shows the correct amount of people in the queue after double clicking it. At least that works for me most of the time.

Very simple: if you only have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

In reality, this is a rather healthy thread, IMHO, voicing several legitimate concerns about the predominant vacant queues, aggrevated by a very poorly executed new UI, and a staggering unwillingness (on Cryptic's end) to fix if even only its most egregious faults with it.

I would love to recapture pre-reputations and pre-delta rising when the game was at its peak and have nothing to moan about. Those were great times, great runs and great crowd of people in the now defunct elitestf channel.

The game was at its peak about a year ago.

I can't even recall what it was like a year ago. Pre S13 but post DR, so after all the fail conditions were added then taken away from the queues?
    Cannot honestly remember.

Perhaps i'm having a bit of nostalgia from that period due to having active fleet mates who I could run missions with and the pre-made Elitestf runs where i was either rewarded the prototype tech drops from the Borg STF's or someone else from the team happen to be lucky. Or maybe it was the social aspect from that period that has triggered this sentiment and the statement I made.

I will agree the game was returning to a healthy condition before season 13 dropped. Maybe being in the DPS Channels and only seeing Space missions being called I didn't notice this as much, as the Borg ground runs aren't run for very often if at all in them.

That's predicated on the person doing the correcting knowing what they're talking about and being consistent with others.
I actually skipped past the childish arguments about the grammatical errors in the post if any, the gist of the point is quite clear, and let's not forget we aren't all native English speakers.

Usually people who are trying to learn a second language are happy for corrections I know I've always been.

  • lapprenticellapprenticel Member Posts: 254 Arc User
While the fewer for countable, less for singular and mass nouns rule may be generally correct, it's not absolute, and is derived from an 18th century preference.

In your third example I'd say one less mistake, a bit less ignorance - you're dealing with a singular element.
The plural of "player" is "players," it is a countable noun, so it takes the word "fewer" instead of "less."

Please edit the mistake out of your title.

I used Player as I am referring to myself rather than speaking about other Players. So the title of the thread is correct.

No it isn't. You also need to stop randomly capitalizing "player" since it isn't a proper noun.

Sorry but if I changed the title to Congratulations Cryptic you have 1 less players using the PvE UI and Queues then it is mistitled as the 1 would need to be removed. But seeing as I am referring to myself as the "1" and the "player" the title is as I mentioned is correct.

You are wrong. Countable nouns take "fewer" instead of "less." You can count players. One player, two players, three players etc.

    "Less fun, fewer players."

    "Fewer mistakes, less ignorance."

"One fewer mistake, a bit less ignorance."

    Ask your English teacher.

The game was at its peak about a year ago.

i found 2013 and 2014 the best years, Brandon was around, this game was something to really be proud of even i was hyped for the Romulan expac, went LTS and got the LoR starter pack, it seemed like STO was in a really good place for a bit in those years. Things actually worked well.

However STO has not really moved on since, but it has not gone backwards either and there are all these doom threads in different forms appearing recently, i'm not trying to be rude to the people who make them and i think they are just as scared of losing this game and seeing it fail, it's very relatable because i don't want to see this game go bad either but it would help a great deal if PW could give Kael a free hand by being a bit more open with the forum community and the social networking sites when he returns from his leave. Some reassurance could do wonders to calm the customers and reduce the overall stress.

Be nice to have a healthy community and a game going places.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

I think some positive news for once would go a long way really. Or at least so sort of attempt to open up a bit more with the community.
I accept it can look pretty bleak with some of us miserly old doom sayers round here moaning but sometimes people missing is not just something to ignore. People have numerous legitimate concerns that never seem to even be acknowledged let alone dealt with, it does get people riled up and others concerned about the health of the game.
Put it this way, if you’ve invested 7 odd years of grinding into the game and have friends and the like here you’d be worried if it just started to die off with dead queues and fleets going dark. I think people are right to be concerned. At the end of the day, if not for the players there is no game.

Me personally the best time for the game was probably the year leading up to S13. I made lots of new friends, improved my skills and learned a lot of new stuff. And the story was pretty good too. The DR damage was being whittled down to repair the game and I think most people were enjoying things. Post S13 the game feels considerably “deader” than ever before. Friends I made have left and others have become hostile as a result of builds being nerfed or having no means to play with TRIBBLE interface problems. To me it feels like it’s going downhill rapidly and the only thing being done is to try and blind us with new shiny toys so we won’t notice. Ships and space sets does not equal proper engaging content.

Add to this, the horrible story. I can't even play most of the episodes on my KDF characters. The Federation story and ending always make me feel insulted for every non-Starfleet player. Take for example, Beyond The Nexus. I played through this on one of my Starfleet characters. Even on them, I was face palming at the the end of it, "Let's take this super powerful being, that can control other peoples minds, and lock him away with other criminals and guards." This is like putting a shark in a seal tank, idiotic at best. Even my Starfleet characters believe it would be a better to just gun him down and remove the threat.

As you said, the lack of engaging content. Which we do lack. When it's all "go here and kill that", covered with a very thin veneer of "being the good guy." It's not engaging. It's just repetitive and boring. I haven't paid much attention to the storyline, since they switched over to this style of play in DR. It's a lesson all games should learn. Easy game play does not build a large community. Look at World of Warcraft, at one point they had 12 million players. They proceeded to switch over to the easy mode of online gaming, their numbers continue to dwindle by the day. From Cataclysm to Warlords of Draenor, they lost 6 million subscribers. Half their player base left, because the game became to easy. The same thing is happening here, the easier they make it, the more people that will leave.

As you said, the fact that seldom seem to acknowledge, much less address the concerns of the plays, i.e. the new queue ui. Shows they lack a sense of responsibly to the players. By continuing to ignore the players concerns, they can maintain plausible deniability. Then when things go south, they can act all surprised and say, "We didn't know."

As you also said, new ships, space sets, ground sets, specialization and fleet holdings do not make for engaging content. That's the carrot on a string trick of, "Go do this, shut up and leave us alone." Which generally works to placate most of the players for a while. Take for example, the new fleet holding. With the current setup for it, even the largest of fleet will have a hard time completing this. As the projected completion time that I've seen is 2 years. And it all revolves around mini-games at the fleet holding itself. Which people will get tired of doing in about a week or two after it's release. These are already concerns that have cropped up and we haven't heard anything about any changes that may, or may not, come about.

The game isn't rapidly going downhill. The downhill ride you're feeling right now, started back when they instituted the Reputations and LoR. I've begun cleaning out my friends list, which was built back in 2012 and 2013, of the ones I never see come online again. I use to sign on and see 20-30 friends online at a time. Now I sign on and I'm lucky to see 10 online. It's saddening, my friends list use to be about 200 other players. Now, it's slowly being cleaned out to about 10. The brakes are still working here, so the decent isn't rapid.

Meh, he's hardly that powerful. Your standard alien of the week. Classic TV plot, most of crew is affected by some weird alien whatchamacallit, the few immunes invent technobabble to counter it, day is saved, come back next week. Except, you know, the part where the almighty player character comes in to shoot people. And it didn't take 42 minutes.

The dude totally didn't live up to his "cosmic horror" visual effects. If anything, he was a kind of tragic villain. A lost child lashing out with his "powers" because he didn't know any better. All he really had to do was ask, and Starfleet would've given him a ride.
